...was a lot like THIS?

OP posts:
Mintyy · 08/02/2014 19:14

Oh God! awful awful awful awful. And I hate the mil bashing on Mumsnet and have said so, loudly, for absolute bloody years.

But I had to watch that through my fingers, cringetastic.

Op, you seem to be throwing a hissy fit that people aren't agreeing with you!

HandsOffMyGazBaz · 08/02/2014 19:16

Hooda is this a video of you or someone you know? You seen disproportionately upset about people's comments.

Mishmashfamily · 08/02/2014 19:19

molly if your like my ex mil , they will love you !

TaraLott · 08/02/2014 19:19

Good job we aren't all the same then innit, I would love to go to a wedding and see this.
And lots of people have agreed with the OP. Smile

persimmon · 08/02/2014 19:19

If it was a father-daughter dance, I bet we'd all think it was hilarious and adorable. I like it - the MIL seems cool!

Mishmashfamily · 08/02/2014 19:25

tara you don't need to worry about me, I won't be on my own in a pew, I'll be surrounded by my daughters and family. Helping behind the scenes, helping them to get ready ect ... I won't be doing any lime light hogging.

It's will be my daughters and new husbands day Smile

TaraLott · 08/02/2014 19:28

Like I said, each to their own, I wouldn't turn my nose up at anyone else's choices though.
P'raps your DD will want to dance with her Dad! Grin

Quackster · 08/02/2014 19:32

OMAGAWD THAT MiL IS STEALING THAT BRIDES HUBBY, ON HER DAY TOO!

srsly.

CuttingOutTheCrap · 08/02/2014 19:34

Love it! I'd have loved DMil to have done this. I bet she'd have done it too, but for the fact that DH would only just agree to a dance with me, let alone anyone else! Grin

TheSumofUs · 08/02/2014 19:35

I thought it was lovely

It's not "the brides day" - that drives me mad - it's about two people committing to each other and everyone else witnessing, celebrating and supporting that amazing pledge

If my MIL did that at my wedding I think it was awesome - a real celebration - her showing her support for our marriage

And it shows she has a sense of humor - good for her!

cory · 08/02/2014 19:37

The more I see of Mumsnet, the more I realise I got this whole wedding lark completely wrong. As I remember it I spent the whole day thinking how wonderful it was that I was going to get to spend the rest of my life with this wonderful person.

When I should have been thinking:

is my MIL going to upstage me?

are the bridesmaids going to upstage me?

are all the wedding guests colour coordinated to set me off in the best possible light?

is there a risk that during the course of the day my path might cross that of another bride, thus reminding me that I am not the only person in the world on my speshul day?

are there any cute children that might upstage me?

LiegeAndLief · 08/02/2014 19:42

Was I the only one hoping she was going to rip that skirt off Bucks Fizz style?

TaraLott · 08/02/2014 19:45

I DID Liege!

Cory, you innocent fool you! Grin

CarolineKnappShappey · 08/02/2014 22:57

I watched it through my fingers too.

It's just strikes me as a bit exhibitionist. Sure dance with your Mum, but don't perform.
