Enticed by Mo and seeing it was a good source if protein, my dh went and bought lots of Quorn.

Interested to know what replaced the meat, I googled it only to find warnings about how unwell people have become after eating it!

Do not fancy it much now but realistically has anyone fallen ill after eating Quorn other than trumping loads from the protein?

It aggravates my IBS very badly so I avoid it

AwaywiththePixies27 · 06/12/2016 06:47

Yes I have. Sent the poor midwives into a tizz when I was pg with DS. Had to stay in for a while with complications and got given a Quorn meal for tea.

Spent the next morning throwing up something rotten and an upset tummy Blush . If I accidentally eat it now, it always turns my insides upside down gives me an upset tummy.

Does anyone know what Quorn is actually made of?

maybeshesawomble · 06/12/2016 07:05

Yes. I was violently ill after eating quite sausages. A few years later I tried again thinking it must have been a bug and therefore coincidental I'd had quorn and once again was sick. It is the only food I've ever reacted to. Even the thought of quorn sausages makes my stomach turn 😷

It gives me a blistered, painful mouth. Which is a shame because I really like it.

CaoNiMerrilyOnHigh · 06/12/2016 07:38

I eat a fair bit of Quorn, and once in a while it gives me major toxic wind!

ffshurryup2016 · 07/12/2016 18:14

YES! Was violently sick after the first time. Tried again just in case, same thing happened on occasion 2! Never again...

Fireandflames666 · 07/12/2016 18:20

I have had a reaction to Quorn every time i've eaten it. It made me very bloated, nauseous and gave me the trots :(.

Blossomdeary · 07/12/2016 18:21

Squits and bellyache - it is heaving with egg white, so if you are not good with eggs, then avoid quorn.

Elllicam · 07/12/2016 18:23

Never any issues here.

Alispeedywalker · 02/05/2017 18:12

I have eaten Quorn for a few months but for last week and this week I have suffered extremely stomach pains and cramps, I have been sick each time and suffered hives too.
I will not buy Quorn products anymore.

I misread your title at first; I thought you were asking if any of you had had an erection to Quorn... I mean, I like it, but not that much.

MrTrebus · 08/09/2017 08:07

Yes makes me ill and it's fucking rank anyway.

Hunkle · 08/09/2017 08:07

I can eat it. It states on the bag, that some people may have a reaction
I think

Sixgeese · 08/09/2017 08:08

The most awful wind, DH refused to share a room with me (let alone a bed!) the one time I tried it.

AccrualIntentions · 08/09/2017 08:09

Never had any problems with it, but I don't have any food intolerances so I'm probably not the sort of person who would. I'm not really a fan though.

cudeatahorse · 08/09/2017 08:11

Disgusting highly processed muck, that's marketed as being healthy.

Oliversmumsarmy · 08/09/2017 08:14

Only had heartburn with a couple of their products. I find the darker coloured Quorn products agree with me, but anything that says chicken style on i have a problem with.
However Slimming World ready meals left me in agony and farting with a stomach that was so bloated it felt like it was going to split open and have never had chinese food without spending the evening throwing up

cudeatahorse · 08/09/2017 08:22

oh yes, my daughter went through a phase,of eating quorn every other day and she was rushed to hospital with severe stomach pains (suspected appendicitis)
Turned out it was severe pain and cramps caused by extreme bloating.
As soon as she stopped eating Quorn, her stomach issues disappeared.
I think it's ok to eat quorn once a week (if you can stand the taste) but I wouldn't t advise eating it on a regular basis, and I wouldn't feed it to myy children on a regular basis. Give them fresh, healthy unprocessed food if possible, not something that was grown in a lab.
The only good thing about a quorn is that it's low fat- which will appeal to the people who have been brainwashed into thinking that fat is bad for you.

cudeatahorse · 08/09/2017 08:33

it's a dirty mould and I can't believe they try to market it as a healthy food. The allergic reactions are very well dcumented and all over the internet. The DCs aren't allowed it and I won't eat it seeing what it can do to people

That's the worrying thing, that so many vegetarians are feeding it to their children, not just once a week , but multiple times,a week. they get given it at school as well.
