Should schools/LEAs allow parents to take children out of school for a holiday (once per year, say) during term time?

There's been plenty of debate already, so let's just have a little show of hands so we can count up...

yes IF attendance is above 95%, it clashes with no exams, it's less than 10 days

Tbh I think this is such a piece of nonsense. I'm surprised there aren't more legal challenges to this type of PISH. I'd like to see someone take a test case as a breach of their right to family life as they cannot holiday at another time.

yes if you have high attendance and your above average in your work a week won't hurt you (im really not sure why everyone needs two weeks?) and if it doesnt clash with anything else

saying that my daughter loves school and would probably not want to leave for a holiday because "thats what the six weeks are for" and yes she did say that and she is 13...........and strange

My DC's learnt more about Egypt in a fortnight by going compared to what they would learn in a whole term.

I only ever take them out the last 2 weeks before the summer holidays tho.

Yes as long as it's not with exam times and attendance is good.

But tbh the worst offenders for term time holidays in our school are the ones whose attendance is generally really poor to start with.
