not to want to pay for night at a hotel

My youngest dd aged 12 asked me if I could take her and 2 friends to stay at a 4 * hotel somewhere as they had not stayed at one before, paying for it themselves, as a treat.

I will be driving them there and back, looking after them etc. I was asked to go rather than the other mums as am thought to be a fun mum. However, I am busy, work w/es but I was honoured to be asked.

Would you say the cost should be split fourways? Or AIBU to have wanted the cost split three ways (excluding me as driver/'baby'sitter) for the room?!

They were all in a king size bed. The other was a sofa bed and I would have been in it!

Ah thanks TheNorthWitch - I may be biased but I think she's pretty great :o the art obsession is actually due to school - summer term in yr1 they had a topic on artists which was done brilliantly.

I didn't realise that teaching kids about culture & travel was such a rotten thing to do.

Indeed!

I hardly ever shake my head in bafflement at MN threads but some of the responses here have got me Confused. I am generally very anti-growing-up-too-fast, I hate the idea of pamper parties and children having too much screen time, teenage-rated video games, gadgets, Facebook, makeup, grown up clothes etc but a hotel stay doesn't enter my radar.

Culture and travel??? This is a thread about one night in a local Novatel - hardly culture and travel Grin

We were referring to an earlier poster who was concerned that this night in a hotel may lead to further outrageous requests for trips, possibly even Paris!

frugalfuzzpig · 10/02/2014 10:58

The quote in question was about the idea that they may want to go to Paris at 14, sirchenjin, I don't think it was particularly referring to the Novotel :o

SirChenjin · 10/02/2014 12:02
