£300 a week for 7:30AM-5PM 5 times a week sometimes it may be a bit more. Then give her some money so she can treat herself. She will stay in our house and she get the chance to go to college/university. We will provide her with food, water a shower and internet. She will be treated like a member of the family and will be able to access the family car.

Childminders are paid at least £5 per child per hour.

Mine isn't.

She's paid around £4.20 for ds2 (3) and £3.50 for ds1.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/02/2014 00:01

and the possibility of becoming her friend don't forget.

Chippednailvarnish · 08/02/2014 00:02

I could be wrong but I'm guessing your not in London.

LifeIsForTheLiving · 08/02/2014 00:02

AND that includes 2 meals for ds2 and 1 meal for ds1.

Chippednailvarnish · 08/02/2014 00:03

and free water

LifeIsForTheLiving · 08/02/2014 00:03

No, not in London...I have no idea what cm's going rate is in London but it's certainly not the case for everywhere.

Bornin1984 · 08/02/2014 00:03

Op, to be honest your offering au pair rates!

Have u been told that 350 is the going rate for what you expect of this person, or is it what you want to pay her?

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/02/2014 00:03

my CMer gets £5 per child per hour. im not anywhere near london or a big city.

Bornin1984 · 08/02/2014 00:04

I'm in the north west and looking at
Childminder for a day from 0700 until 1800 is 30 a day

SpagBolgs · 08/02/2014 00:04

There is no need to mock me if I post her daily routine your realize it not silly as it seems.

OP posts:
Chippednailvarnish · 08/02/2014 00:05

I'm on the outskirts of London and they range from £5 to £7.50

LifeIsForTheLiving · 08/02/2014 00:05

ELEVEN hour days Bornin?

How do they ever cope!

Chippednailvarnish · 08/02/2014 00:06

FFS just pay her a decent wage and stop fucking procrastinating.

And I shall now follow Bogey as I also think that the OP is talking BS (I hope).

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/02/2014 00:06

go on OP post her daily routine with 5 dcs, 2 pre schoolers and two different school runs twice a day.

PatriciaHolm · 08/02/2014 00:06

Right well that's £7.70 an hour for the two pre-schoolers, so £385 a week just for them. Then another 3 kids for, what, 15 hours a week? so £10.50 x 15 = £157.5. Total £ 542. Plus the equivalent of a CM retainer for those school kids for the school hours, as the nanny will be the one picking them up/caring for them if they are sick, so say another 40 hours *£5 an hour = £200. So total around £750 a week. Take £150 off for live-in, now we get £600 a week!

Bornin1984 · 08/02/2014 00:07

Op while I appreciate it was your choice to have 5 dc and your own reasons for going back to work and entrusting somebody to look after your dc, you need
To give them te respect and the appreciation and the salary of what you are asking them to do! You are asking them to look after 5 children 5 days a week, on a pittance!! Would u do this job for the same salary? I note a few times I have asked your location so we can compare and you decline to answer,
So that makes me thnk you know u are being unreasonable

Chippednailvarnish · 08/02/2014 00:07

Patrica stop pulling me back... you forgot the free water.

Bornin1984 · 08/02/2014 00:09

Life! There no need to be arsey with me, I was merely stating how much it is on the location of where I am! Seeing as different areas of the uk have different cost of living! Perhaps the op is paying the going rate who knows!

Wantsunshine · 08/02/2014 00:13

Op are you American? Just wondering due to your spelling?

Sharaluck · 08/02/2014 00:15

Yes that is a good point. Will she be expected to care for the older children at home when they are sick? Or will you take time off for this?

I personally think caring for 5 children is a lot of work and quite unusual for a nanny, even if 3 are at school for 6 hours a day. They are still at home for 4 hours and a school run twice a day with 5 children is also a lot of work. Will she also be doing homework with the older dc?

I think you are under estimating how much the workload of 5 children will be (since they are your own children and you have raised them since birth and are used to them etc).

She may be fine with the situation at present but I wouldn't expect her staying for long.

SpagBolgs · 08/02/2014 00:16

7:00AM she will wake up this gives her time to change and whatever she needs to do.
7:30- Wake up the DC
7:30-45- DC brush teeth and hair and put their uniform on
7:45-8:00-DC eat breakfast
8:00- DC get into the car and school run
8:40- Back home and has to look after 2 LO
8:40-4:00- Give the LO their feed and their nap through most of the day so in a way this is her freetime.
4:00- Pick DC from school and send them to clubs if they have any that day
4:30- DC back her make sure the DC do homework
5:00- I arrive home DC finish hw and Nanny gets to have her own time
