Just to catch you up discussion has just been about what you can do to get your meps attention, and now what the concerns for the market are and whether it will be able to be governed.

Some of the concerns these guys have brought up are things we've mentioned here - That most of us will know where to go to get around it but new users will only have access to shite basically.

Allergictoironing · 26/02/2014 21:56

Most applied across the EU, there is some discretion by Member States on increased restriction, and things like flavourings. But the main points listed by plenty are mandatory.

There's a certain length of time that Member States can take to implement the new regs (30 months I think); though they can bring them in earlier if they want, they MUST have it all in place by that time.

FlockOfTwats · 26/02/2014 22:27

So this is definitely going to happen.

I'm upset by this. Its unfair. Free reign for the tobacco industry but shut down the first effective aid to quitting ever?

Will we still be able to import? Sorry for the questions, OH is hogging the pc and my phone is crap for searching anything.

Allergictoironing · 26/02/2014 23:13

Imports have to comply with the new regs - the importers are liable to ensure this. This includes all the kit as well as juice, so if anyone invents a new type of mod it needs to be submitted to the EU for approval at least 6 months before they can import it. Any and all juice sold into Europe from anywhere in the world has to comply with the EU regs (rather like any cigarettes imported into the UK have to carry the relevant health warnings in English).

FlockOfTwats · 26/02/2014 23:18

For fuck sake.

I don't know what to do now.

I'm going to stock up on kit over the next few months and hope there will be decent stuff to import.

I only vape 6mg or even nicotine free so the 20 mg isn't a problem, and i buy a lit of 10ml so the 10ml bottle limit isn't a massive issue. Its mostly the actual batteries and tanks for me, but in gutted about the whole thing on behalf of everyone who it is an issue for because its unfair and based on nothing.

I don't understand the part about not describing taste. Surely you want to know what you're buying and what it tastes of?

Allergictoironing · 26/02/2014 23:24

I think the bit about taste was intended to refer only to cigarettes. But the whole directive is written so badly and vaguely that it could be interpreted either way.

And I have zero trust in any government that says "oh it's meant to only refer to this scenario, we'd never apply it to that scenario even if the wording allows it" - we found that one out with the anti-terrorism laws being applied to let local councils spy on anything they want to, or stop photographers taking pictures of public building.

Jux · 26/02/2014 23:29

Statistics say that we are the heaviest smokers in Europe, and have more deaths from smoking related diseases. I'm glad that our MEPs are showing some concern over those figures, and acting accordingly; also that they have paid attention to the many people who have been writing to them about it.

Incidentally, did you know that it used to be that if an MP got letters from 10 constituents on a particular subject they classed it as a 'flood'?

QueenStromba · 27/02/2014 11:01

That's VV and VW devices out then :(

I'll be buying a couple of the best itaste 134 type devices are when this comes in (the full sized ones are £70 on FT). Being able to change the actual batteries when they run out will be a plus. I'll also stock up on tanks.

Allergictoironing · 27/02/2014 11:13

I'm pretty sure there will be a few VV & VW devices that get approval under the 6 month rule - just not sure whether they will be the best ones or the best value for money, or what the variety will be like.

Worst case scenario is if the UK government decide to implement all the elements of the directive, then existing importers and manufacturers have 6 months to submit & get approval. Best case scenario is if the UK government takes the maximum allowable time to implement, giving the importers and manufacturers 3 years (30 + 6 months).

QueenStromba · 27/02/2014 11:35

3.f) electronic cigarettes deliver the nicotine doses at consistent levels under normal conditions of use;

VV/VW changes the amount of vapour and therefore the amount of nicotine.

KatieScarlett2833 · 27/02/2014 11:37

Glad I just ordered a new VV.

My goal for today is to Vape on Campus tour of Physics Dept. got to do something to relieve the bafflement

QueenStromba · 27/02/2014 11:40

Although it could be argued that VV/VW produces more consistent "nicotine doses" since they don't taper off when the battery is getting low.

How that particular line is interpreted could ban all ecigs or any subset that you care to ban really.

FlockOfTwats · 27/02/2014 16:33

queen Be aware that FT don't include batteries with the mod.

There are a few ways to get around that with vw mods i imagine. OH has been thinking lol.

I am definitely going to buy a couple more vws as and when.

Ive seen some cool fire twos for fourty quid so may grab one next month.

Currently my battery stock stands at a vamo v5, innokin itaste vv v3 (two of), itaste 134 and an ego c twist between OH and me.

Id like a coolfire 2 and an mvp2 so by my reckoning, we've got a good few years of use in them.

The itaste 134 mini will be in stock here soon too which is slightly cheaper than the full size.

I am also wanting to stick up on big tanks and attys for them.

My hair is going to suffer for a few months going without hair cuts to stock up but it will be worth it.

Ledare · 27/02/2014 16:42

I'm not as sophisticated as some of you but have finally given myself to buy another spinner / twist and a big bottle of this

Is it just me or does it not say how much you get for that price? Interesting given the legislation that all the gourmet flavours are 20 rather than 24 but they are so delicious I haven't noticed the lack of nicotine.

Ledare · 27/02/2014 16:43

Good idea about a vaping OFRS Smile

Allergictoironing · 27/02/2014 17:19

Ledare if you go to the general info about Griswald's on VapeEscape, they talk about 10ml pre-made samplers and the 30ml bottles that are made to order, so I'm guessing it will be 30ml?

I would look on them as 20mg rather than 18mg, as they talk about 20mg "medium" and do "high" at 30mg. The samplers are all at 20mg, you can choose the strength of the big bottles there.

Ledare · 27/02/2014 17:20

Ah I see - thanks Flowers

FlockOfTwats · 27/02/2014 17:33

On a brighter note my joosejuice order arrived. They seem to have new flavours so i've got some of their energy drink, cherry cola and cheesecake to try, along with the now usual 60ml of bubblegum :D

FlockOfTwats · 27/02/2014 17:34

Ledaire It does in the 'further info' tab. Its 30ml.

Ledare · 27/02/2014 18:29

I thought so but couldn't be sure. 10ml of JAC juice looks very different to 10 ml of Hangsen in the bottles due to dimensions.

Sounds like your new flavours will go very nicely with your bubblegum!

Jux · 27/02/2014 18:59

Here's a link to the EU voting record on the legislation, showing how all MEPs voted; scroll down to the filters and youncan get all UK MEPs andmhow each voted on this.

I am sad to say that 2 of mine didn't vote at all, one was a cowardly abstainer, but one of mine (rebel!) voted against. Clearly a good chap!

www.votewatch.eu/en/manufacture-presentation-and-sale-of-tobacco-and-related-products-draft-legislative-resolution-vote--2.html

I am considering whether to write to the two lazy ones castigating them for wasting my money on their wages, and the other for cowardice (didn't win the war that way doncha know. I seem to be channelling my Uncle, oh dear Blush).

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 27/02/2014 19:00

I'm definitely thinking of getting a couple of mods with removable batteries. As they said on the talk show flock watched () they're basically torches - the technology is so non-specific they won't be able to ban it. Flock, how are you getting on with your Vamo? they seem to be widely recommended as a basic, economical mod.

Other things in my vaper's OFRS:

  • Large capacity pyrex tanks with rebuildable coils (kanger protanks etc.) There seem to be new inventions about twice a week at the moment so I need to do a bit of research. Pyrex will last indefinitely, until it is dropped.
  • lots of replacement coils for the above. I intend to rebuild for as long as I can but eventually the little rubber gromets will go.
  • Kanthal wire for rebuilding coils (I can't actually see this disappearing, I'm sure it has lots of uses)
  • silica wick - as above (although cotton wool is supposed to be at least as good)
  • rebuildable dripping attys with metal caps. These should last a looong time and contain nothing that could reasonably be banned. I've had one for a while but I haven't quite got the hang of it yet. I have an incentive now.
  • high nic liquid. I only vape 18mg so I'm 'alright', I just want the option to DIY later on. I need to get a new freezer before I can get this though.
PlentyOfPubeGardens · 27/02/2014 19:10

Jux thanks for that link. That's the main TPD vote though I think. From your link I found this page which shows the voting breakdown for article 18.

I think it was a good suggestion in that chat show to make appointments and go and see MPs and MEPs and make human contact with them - remind them there are actual people whose lives are affected by the decisions they make.

FlockOfTwats · 27/02/2014 19:17

Plenty Surprisingly very well. If i'm honest, I was feeling left out when OH got his itaste 134 haha. And i saw it on sale for £45 with two generic ce4s so i asked for a fiver off if i didn't have the ce4s and he said yes.

No idea if they can be bought cheaper but here is where i got mine.

I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. I love the batteries, I'm going to buy some more. I don't stack them so i basically have two 900mah batteries to rotate. OH was surprised with it too. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out the controls and away i went! And ive had various tanks on it (Iclear 30, 30b, 16 and a mini protank) on it and they all work well with it.

I have seen some very nicely priced innokin stuff today, OH had some up earlier. My e-pack has coolfire 2 at 40 quid.

Not sure if the coolfire 2 uses removable batteries though.

Obviously the plus side is you only need one charger though so even though you buy that separately on mods like the vamo and the itaste its not a repeated expense, once you've got a charger and a couple of types of batteries you're only paying for a mod next time and the chargers fit various types of batteries (For example my charger charges OHs itastes battery aswell, and vice versa, even though my batteries dont fit into the itaste 134 because theyre too fat).
