To ask if you think that Knox is guilty?

I have no idea but it seems that her kissing her boyfriend at the time was seen as suspicious whereas I don't think that this is suspicious at all. DNA is...kissing one's lover.no. It's not even that inappropriate to kiss ones lover in the face of tragedy.
Didn't she do cartwheels though?

as I say, ali i've read a lot about this case. I know the only 'real' evidence is DNA on a knife handle and on a bra clasp - circumstantial evidence, which on its own is not generally enough to get someone convicted. I posted part of the prosecution's closing argument and afaik they didn't come up with anything more convincing than that Hmm. so what makes you so sure?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 31/01/2014 22:57

Yes, I think she is.

But that isn't the big issue in my opinion. We have seen recently the US demanding the extradition of a man from the UK for computer hacking (sorry, his name escapes me), however it has been widely reported that the US is incredibly unlikely to allow the extradition of Amanda Knox should Italy request it.

Why does the US think they can force extradition for their own purposes but not allow other countries to do the same to criminals who are US citizens?

If the US does refuse the extradition will European countries refuse to extradite European citizens to the US?

sussexmum38 · 31/01/2014 22:58

Yes without doubt.

SmellyFartado · 31/01/2014 22:58

I'm a big believer in 'the truth will out' but in this case, I don't think we'll ever truly know.

I've always thought Knox and Rafaela were guilty from what I have read of the case in the papers, whether they did it or didn't but just know more than they're letting on, who knows. Knox changing her story and cartwheels in the prison was it not long after being arrested don't seem like the actions of an innocent person

PinkandPoo · 31/01/2014 22:58

They're both innocent, or at very least there's enough reasonable doubt for an innocent verdict. There's no decent evidence, and no credible motive. Also the person who committed the murder has already be caught, his DNA was all over the crime scene and he has admitted it.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 31/01/2014 22:59

cartwheels? she was asked by 'lecherous' policemen to show them some yoga positions.

lottieandmia · 31/01/2014 23:00

Personally, after the reading I've done about it my feeling is she's innocent.

Gunznroses · 31/01/2014 23:01

I think she certainly knows A LOT more than she is letting on. Yes, its normal to kiss your lover, No it is not normal to kiss your lover outside the place where your flat mate was just found dead with her throat slashed and you are under suspicion for her murder neither do i get the motivation to do cartwheels and splits (what is she five?) at the policestation whilst waiting to be questionned for said murder!

MimiSunshine · 31/01/2014 23:01

The saddest thing in my opinion is that it's almost like Meredith never really existed or was horrifically murdered. She didn't die instantly, it was slow and she'd have known. Apologies if that's upsetting but it's almost like her murder is mentioned to justify the discussion of Amanda's guilt / not guilty but not really acknowledge as real.

I don't know if Amanda and her BF are guilty or not but what I'm not sure has ever been explained properly was why did she name another (100% innocent) person and claim she covered her ears while Meredith died.

However I'm inclined to think she was young, stupid and arrogant. Perhaps what other people would conclude as typical 'yank' arrogance (generalising). In that she never gave one thought to actually being accused (a nice American over achieving girl, no way) and worse found guilty and put in prison, and so revelled in the attention and made something up.
Her behaviour during the first trial and subsequent reaction to the first guilty verdict would suggest to me that she didn't accept that it was really happening to her and has since dammed her.

noblegiraffe · 31/01/2014 23:01

I don't understand how they could have been cleared, released from prison, and now they are supposed to go back to prison.

Could that sort of arsing around with people's lives happen in the UK?

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 31/01/2014 23:02

according to the police's version of events, she was doing cartwheels. she says it was yoga.

LeepyTime · 31/01/2014 23:02

I actually think they were so off their faces that they don't even know if they did it or not, so I don't think anyone will ever know what really happened.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 31/01/2014 23:03

I don't think she did it. And I do think that, even if she did, she is utterly convinced that she didnt. Dont know much about him though tbh

lottieandmia · 31/01/2014 23:03

It must be awful for Meredith Kercher's family not knowing what happened to her for sure though. Someone killed her and the question is who.

noblegiraffe · 31/01/2014 23:04

what I'm not sure has ever been explained properly was why did she name another (100% innocent) person and claim she covered her ears while Meredith died.

An awful lot of people confess to having committed a crime themselves when being interrogated despite being completely innocent. Pointing the finger at someone else if led in that direction by the police is probably not unusual at all.

starlady · 31/01/2014 23:05

What about the fact they bought all that bleach? And seriously, the fact that she was willing to sacrifice Patrick lumumba? As he has been quoted, that he the black guy didn't have any pressure from the police, as Amanda has said she was put under.

There is a lot Amanda and her ex isn't saying.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 31/01/2014 23:05

Mimi she names another person because she was put under extreme pressure by the police. stress can do crazy things to you. I've been in a situation where I was so stressed I convinced myself of something that wasn't true by 'remembering' it. hard to explain but she did have a perfectly believable explanation for it.

FreudiansSlipper · 31/01/2014 23:05

it was not a passionate kiss it was a comforting kiss

and what way are you meant to behave exactly, i am not sure. people can act very strangely and totally out of character when in shock

unless a woman is crying or a man is wanting to give someone a good beating their actions are questioned

i remember Sarah Payne's mother being accused of not being emotional enough, that was enough for many to believe that she was guilty Hmm

i am sure if Knox came across as a sweet less confident woman she would have a lot more people thinking she was innocent

SaucyJack · 31/01/2014 23:06

Someone killed her and the question is who.

Rudy Guede murdered Meredith Kercher. There was overwhelming forensic evidence to link him to her rape and murder- and he's also confessed. He was convicted and imprisoned years ago.

Along with Meredith- he's the other forgotten/ignored person in the case.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 31/01/2014 23:06

what drugs, other than cannabis, was she supposed to be on then?

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 23:07

For god's sake rain, she smoked a bit of pot. That is hardly likely to send you on a killing spree if you are other wise of good character. Kebab yes, murder no. I have another thread on this same subject.

There is no evidence that anyone other than Rudi Guell was involved. None. There is lot of shit in the papers. There is disputed DNA evidence. There is well dodgy motive put forward by the prosecution.

Alisvolatpropiis · 31/01/2014 23:08

Anne it's Gary McKinnon. Agree with what you say there re America and it's one way extradition treaties.

MimiSunshine · 31/01/2014 23:08

I get that, I too have felt guilty when something's gone wrong say at work even though I've known it definitely wasn't me, but to go into that much detail about cowering while the murder happened? Odd.

PortofinoRevisited · 31/01/2014 23:09

Rudi Guede - sorry - I was thinking ofBarceona - another thread....
