To ask if you think that Knox is guilty?

I have no idea but it seems that her kissing her boyfriend at the time was seen as suspicious whereas I don't think that this is suspicious at all. DNA is...kissing one's lover.no. It's not even that inappropriate to kiss ones lover in the face of tragedy.
Didn't she do cartwheels though?

That's interesting Holey, she is difficult to really warm to.

TheEarlOfDoncaster1963 · 02/02/2014 10:50

I don't think she did it but i think she knows more than she's letting on. If you google "Amanda Knox microexpressions" there is a link to an interview. Psychopath? I don't know about that, but she does seem very cold. That does not make her a murderer. The 'cartwheels' thing is not true - she was doing yoga stretches and yes, she did do the splits (rather odd but maybe that's something that is normal for her to do if her hips or back got stiff - everyone is different) but that does not make her a murderer either. The Italian police made a complete hash job of the forensics and the investigation - and basically had made their minds up that it was AK because of her 'strange' behaviour.

Nerfmother · 02/02/2014 10:52

Hokey, I agree: I said earlier I felt that would explain her inability to come across well.

I don't think she or RS are guilty. For me, the evidence against them just doesn't stack up. There was undeniable forensic evidence in the bedroom to place Rudi Guede as the rapist and murderer of Meredith. Surely if AK/RS had been there, in a sex game/murder capacity, there would have been similar amounts of forensic evidence for them too?

I think Rudi Guede most probably acted alone and the real travesty here is that he got a lesser sentence because he implicated others.

FreudiansSlipper · 02/02/2014 11:06

once again not acting like one should, being a little different and the press manipulation how can anyone get a fair trial

Christopher Jefferies (Joanne Yates landlord), Colin Stagg, Barry George i am sure there are many others

Monetbyhimself · 02/02/2014 11:07

Dark Sangria I think that's my gut feeling as well. I think AK and RS were invilved. I don't think it was pre planned and I think now that as RS faces the possibility of a very long prison term, whilst AK remains free as years of legal wrangling over extradition take place, he may very well tell the truth.
Is AK in a relationship at present? I wouldn't be surprised if she is pregnant very soon. A young pregnant woman or new mother being extradited is much more of an issue.

Merediths family are so dignified. I hope this nightmare is finally over for them soon.

LemongrassGinger · 02/02/2014 11:10

IF she was involved, it was a drug-fuelled accident, and she's served six years of her life to it. four in prison and two more with this hanging over her, and she's far from 'free' yet. So, my take is that even if she was guilty in some way, she's served more of a sentence than manslaughter with good behaviour. But I think that if she'd been guilty she would have gone back to America, rather than sticking around to help the polizia for 50 days before they arrested her.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/02/2014 11:24

I find it hard to describe the injuries Meredith received as resulting from a "drug-fuelled accident".

BumPotato · 02/02/2014 11:25

Is the another trial planned? I'm going by previous posts re the Italian legal system ands there being 3 trials. At this stage are the Italians even asking for extradition?

mercibucket · 02/02/2014 11:27

i agree, theSnowqueen, with the comparison with joanne yeates

'odd' landlord. find and convict real murderer but continue to invent a series of bizarre reasons why he might still have done it because he is 'odd'

BumPotato · 02/02/2014 11:27

If the drug they were taking was marijuana, as suggested, the drug-fuelled murder scenario seems even more unlikely to me.

Nancy66 · 02/02/2014 11:28

BumPotato - I think another course has to uphold this verdict and then if, as expected, they do then the Italians can request extradition.

BumPotato · 02/02/2014 11:30

Thanks Nancy.

janey68 · 02/02/2014 11:45

I'm loathe to post on here because I hate these pointless speculative prurient threads which serve only to encourage amateur sleuths.

However I am shocked that anyone with even the most basic knowledge of the known facts could claim this was a 'drug fuelled accident' . You only need to read about the victims injuries to know there is no way this could have been accidental. The poor girl had her throat cut fgs. Whether it was pre planned is a different matter, whether AK was involved is a different matter but 'accident'? The mere suggestion is offensive

lottieandmia · 02/02/2014 12:23

I agree Janey. It was an horrifically brutal murder.

CalamityKate · 02/02/2014 12:57

That itv doc was so interesting!

It confirmed what I've always thought though; if AK was guilty she'd be FAR less likely to act so inappropriately than if she was/is innocent.

Out of interest - not that I think its relevant to whether she's innocent or not - but the supposed cartwheel; some sources say its a myth but I've seen interviews where she's asked about it and she doesn't deny it. Surely you would, if it were a myth?

sashh · 02/02/2014 12:58

But the reason she is in the US in the first place is because the Italian justice system released her. The system seems completely bizarre to me, does this bouncing in and out of prison for the same crime happen a lot in Italy?

No. The judge has been criticised for releasing them, the appeal isn't unusual, under UK and US law it probably would not have been allowed, in Italy you can appeal over virtually anything.

Hk, my understanding is that AK "blamed" PL after she'd been interviewed for hours on end with no sleep and in Italian, after the police had suggested his name to her.

But the records/evidence and various people who were in the room, including her interpreter, say that she named him within an hour.

For example, they claim the police found a pair of bloody boots next to Meredith Kercher's head and shoved them under the bed. The bloodstain created by the boots when they were moved then became part of the "evidence" of a staged burglary.

But no one has said the burglary or staged burglary involved anything in Meredith's room.

To those who think AK is guilty can I just ask what evidence persuades you to lean that way?

The evidence presented in court.

Bloody bare foot prints, DNA, both mixed in the flat and Meredith's on the knife at Solecittos flat. Someone upthread mentioned the DNA on Jonbenet Ransy's pants. There has to be some contact for the DNA to move from a person to something. Meredith had to have been in contact with the knife, she had never been to the flat, Solecitto had never cooked at the girls' flat so how did the DNA get on the knife, and the knife get in to the drawer?

Timetoask · 02/02/2014 13:08

MarvellousMechanicalMouseOrgan My comment was not with regards to the wether the drugs were legal or not, more in answer to those people who say that drugs (such as marihuana) don't do much to your brain and its worse than alcohol. My point is that it dumbs people.
Obviously this thread is not about that subject so will leave it there.

Kitsey · 02/02/2014 13:15

It's difficult as so much information out there is very pro- guilt or very pro-innocence. But I understand it is pretty clear from M's injuries and various other forensics that Guede could not have acted alone? Although it's impossible to know what actually happened or even if the information online is true or made up.

MarvellousMechanicalMouseOrgan · 02/02/2014 13:38

Oh Time, I get you now. Smile

trixymalixy · 02/02/2014 13:38

Were there no drugs tests? They can test hair years after for drugs can't they?

lottieandmia · 02/02/2014 13:45

Some sources say that Knox's DNA was mixed with Meredith's blood and some say not. What is the truth of that?

stickysausages · 02/02/2014 13:48

I thought part of their alibi was pot smoking together.... but her letter in the daily fail today states she was drug tested when arrested, and results were negative

lottieandmia · 02/02/2014 13:48

Wrt the knife - perhaps I am odd but I often borrow kitchen utensils from my mum, especially if she has a better knife and I need it for something specific. Nothing is clear but it does not really show guilt does it? If a knife is at someone's house the DNA of everyone living there could get on it.
