Something ive experinced quite a lot, nothing against that personally if thats what you like.

It seems so many men like that look and they cant fathom a woman who doesnt go in for it.

I hate shopping and bling, and dresses. I like books and quirky things, big, messy hair and eyeliner.

I know it cant be everyman, but it really feels like its the majority.

Do i need to get myself down jane norman?

gosh yes the big hair, makeup, high heels, of course she must be thick!!!

judgmental much.

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 19:15

Some of the cleverest women I know are extremely glam!!

Crowler · 27/01/2014 19:22

I work at a place were all the girls are more MIC than TOWIE

I don't watch MIC but I do think Millie McIntosh is adorable.

VoyageDeVerity · 27/01/2014 20:16

I think guys'll through their teethwhen they say they prefer girls with " no make up" that is such bollocks

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 20:31

I'm quite towie (no fake hair - I have big hair but not fake hair yet). I wear fake tan, false nails, big eyelashes, etc.

I like the way I look, I don't do it for men. I do find that a lot of men assume I'm a chavvy thicko. However I think that says more about them than me. Plenty of women in rl and on here have made adverse comments about my appearance, at best saying I don't look as clever as I am...

I don't care how people dress so long as they're fairly clean! I think making judgments based on that is rather sad.

nkf · 27/01/2014 20:34

Isn't it a sort of signalling? The TOWIE look is a look that says something about you. So does unbrushed hair and a parka. And people use these signals to find each other. If your look is academic then you won't get picked up in a bar in Epping Forest. But the full make up look will look out of place in lots of other environments.

bishbashboosh · 27/01/2014 20:40

Noooooooo

Young Women seem to like this look, ugh

I don't think men doShock

I hate it

I'm a woman

Latara · 27/01/2014 20:42

I like the TOWIE look - but I'm rubbish at fake tan, my hair won't go 'big', I can't apply false lashes and I can't have fake nails at work sadly.

But when I lost some of my hair in 2011 I went straight out and bought a wig that was like Amy Child's hair. People didn't know I was wearing a wig and thought I'd had extensions.
I found myself getting lots of attention from men which was great!
Now I'm growing my hair to get that look naturally I hope.

tracypenisbeaker · 27/01/2014 20:48

My oh likes the look. Nothing wrong with him. On the other hand, when i have no makeup or anything he still complements me. Im not overly fake or anything, but when i go out i like to make an effort (takes me days to prepare haha) and its nice that he appreciates the effort, instead of rolling his eyes at me :)

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 27/01/2014 20:49

lots of essex girls and boys dislike the Towie look. Saying that, I don't get out in town much anymore but occasionally drive past on a saturday night and I'm shocked at just how dressed up everybody is just to go out to a pub. Essex girls have always dressed up more than other areas (remember the white high heels of the 80's) but it does seem more common now.

However lots of my post 16 classes wouldn't be seen dressed up like Towie so there are still different groups.

Limitedperiodonly - I remember that shop (paris), but never went in there though as really wasn't my style. Do remember the lycra dresses they all wore to Hollywoods nightclub.

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/01/2014 21:12

I'm 25, have never and will never rock the TOWIE look.

Yabu.

keepingthelidon · 27/01/2014 21:22

i dont care, people can wear what they like. I make no judgement on people from their clothes.

Its just that ive had some very odd comments from men with regards to pushing this look, or being very interested in this kind of look and just wondered if other people found this to be the case.

perplexedpirate · 27/01/2014 21:28

Absolutely 100% not!
Fashion and style is as diverse as it's ever been, just the TOWIE style has been particularly visible recently (possibly a counterpoint to the also popular 'geek chic' look?).
There are still hipsters, Goths, emos, scene kids, rockers, pin-ups, nerds etc everywhere if you look.

bonvivant · 27/01/2014 21:30

Maybe to an uneducated man

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/01/2014 21:31

I've never met a man who suggested I get a fake tan. Get my clothes off asap yes, fake tan, no.

birdsnotbees · 27/01/2014 21:34

I've never met a man yet who likes that look - reckon it's who you mix with. Sure, there are tribes of girls where I live rocking that look, but honestly if I went out like that everyone would take the piss for, basically, eva. It's not a good look, not for me anyway.

VelvetSpoon · 27/01/2014 21:42

I think saying only an uneducated man would like it is rather like saying it's a look for uneducated women Hmm

Certainly doesn't apply to me - although admittedly I am too old and chubby for full on TOWIE, but I get quite close to it.

I actually find the more educated the man, the less inclined they are to make snap judgments or assumptions based on appearance...

Whathaveiforgottentoday · 27/01/2014 21:47

Never really met a man who has said he liked the towie look but then again, I'm not likely to meet them as don't go the sort of places where they hang out.

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 21:49

What the fuck has education and intelligence got to do with preference of style????

EmmaBemma · 27/01/2014 21:51

I can say with total certainty that my husband wouldn't even know what a Towie look was. He's def not into fake tan and hair extensions though.

MsAspreyDiamonds · 27/01/2014 22:00

I get on the train to London & 75% of the under 30's women emulate the towie look & unfortunate accent eventhough we are nowhere near Essex. Lots of big hair, big boobs, big eyelashes and pantomine makeup with ultra short skirts. I call it the vampire trampy look, it is so unappealing and has an ageing effect on the person.

TheSmallClanger · 27/01/2014 22:05

There is a sizeable group of men who claim to dislike this look, yet their actions say otherwise.

Op you are blaming a county for men's supposed taste. That doesn't strike you as beyond weird? Or for local parlance "two stops past dagenham" (barking).

Tbh I've found men can't give a f**k what the girl looks like so long as she looks game for a laugh. Now, depending on your game depends on your look. Find blokes that like your game.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 27/01/2014 22:19

LJ so so right. Dumbest women proclaim intelligent looks....
