Something ive experinced quite a lot, nothing against that personally if thats what you like.

It seems so many men like that look and they cant fathom a woman who doesnt go in for it.

I hate shopping and bling, and dresses. I like books and quirky things, big, messy hair and eyeliner.

I know it cant be everyman, but it really feels like its the majority.

Do i need to get myself down jane norman?

I think a lot of men do like that look, perhaps not such as extreme. Often I read about how men say their partners used to make a big effort in their appearance and now they don't and it causes problems. I'm not not saying I agree with that, in fact the double standards of it drive me mad. But let's face it when a lot of us went out clubbing or pubbing when we were younger we used to enjoy getting dressed up and perhaps having a bit of a flirt...I can't have been the only one.

Whenever you read those quizzes in magazines they always go for the pretty natural girls, so nope

When I was a girl, Jackie had an interview with my idol David Cassidy saying that he liked girls with the natural, no make-up, jeans and t-shirt look.

I think time and the National Enquirer has told us that that was a big lie.

Magazines print whatever they think their readers want to read. And some men say what they think you want to hear whether it's 'I love the Boden look or the TOWIE one.'

Lj8893 I loved riding in Epping Forest. I was reasonably good at it. Didn't wear knickers under my jodphurs which went down well with men behind me and in the pub afterwards Grin

sebsmummy1 · 27/01/2014 17:37

My partner likes me wearing make up and likes me with my hair down, but I think it's because it only takes me 15 mins to put it on and I let my hair dry naturally.

If he was constantly waiting for me to get ready and then I had my face in a mirror every time we went out he'd probably be less enthusiastic.

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 17:41

limited Grin I bet you were very popular!!

Sparklysilversequins · 27/01/2014 17:42

I think men who say they like "the natural look", don't realise how much effort maintaining "the natural look" actually takes, ie a face full of make up but just not heavy and obvious with nice swingy (blow dried and straightened) hair.

AmberLeaf · 27/01/2014 17:48

Limited you minx you! Grin

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 17:50

Yy sparkly

I've always been told I've got the "girl next door" look and its lovely how natural I am. In reality I wear ALOT of make up, my nails are false, i use expensive hair products and I spend alot of time planning my outfits. Oh, and I get through alot of eyebrow pencil Wink

limitedperiodonly · 27/01/2014 17:56

Thanks amberleaf. You don't know how much it means to me to be referred to as a minx these days Grin

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 27/01/2014 18:04

Tbh I'm rather annoyed op. You are using a county to illustrate a dress. That's ridiculous. You are using derivative stereotypes to assert your own importance and tastes. Yours apparently being right. You are suggesting rather tasteless things via the use of these stereotypes.

Now, I'm sure you wouldn't use other stereotypes in your day to day life so quite why do you feel able and justified to use these? Desist and find another way to explain your opinions and I might take your opinion more seriously.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 27/01/2014 18:05

Derogative not derivative. Fecking phone.

Creamycoolerwithcream · 27/01/2014 18:08

I think The Made In Chelsea lot wear as much makeup as the young Towie women but because it's all nude and natural colours it isn't as obvious.

keepingthelidon · 27/01/2014 18:14

minnie - where have i said that?

ive just said that look is not me.

Ive not said anything bad about it.

You will forever be Limited the Minx in my mind Wink Grin

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 18:19

I don't think the OP has said anything derogatory about the look. Its other posters who have labeled it "tacky", "thick as bricks", "state of that" etc etc that I think have been offensive!!

bodygoingsouth · 27/01/2014 18:26

gosh so we are criticising how some women dress and whether it somehow equals them being thick and whether or not men like it!!! ffs!!!

Thisisaghostlyeuphemism · 27/01/2014 18:26

I was in towie land on Saturday. There were about 40 youths hanging around a shop where they were filming. i like to think my very presence raised the IQ in the area by er 500 percent.

I work at a place were all the girls are more MIC than TOWIE, however they are extremely uniform, leggings/shorts, spidery eyelashes, long preferably blonde hair, lots of make-up, slim. I think it is pretty conformist and there isn't as much variety as I remember when I was a teen/in my twenties.

I don't believe all this 'men prefer natural' though, I always wore heaps of make-up, tight clothing (when i had the bod for it) and was slim and it does attract lots of men and nice comments from women come to that. Perhaps not always the type you want though!

VinoTime · 27/01/2014 18:40

I think it's tacky looking - sorry.

I genuinely feel sorry for a lot of blokes. I'd freak the fuck out if I woke up the morning after and the person next to me was shedding hair all over my now black pillow, had eyelashes falling off and had turned my sheets orange!

I'll put on my full face for nights out - which includes a bit of eyeliner and lipstick on top of my normal foundation and mascara. My hair's lucky to get a brush, much less a wash for the morning school run though. I just can't bring myself to care at half 8 in the morning Blush

Thisisaghostlyeuphemism That's a bold claim. You might like to think it but can you prove it?

Lj8893 · 27/01/2014 18:43

vino I would hope most lady's remove thier eyelashes and make up before bed!! I know I do!

Creamycoolerwithcream · 27/01/2014 18:47

I'm naughty and leave my mascara on.
