I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

Agrees with Amber; they are valid points and I don't like the 'silencing' tactics either. People can post about their experiences without censure or censorship, excepting MNHQ guidelines.

Everybody who takes drugs - with the exception of those who have them slipped into drinks or injected into them against their will - makes a CHOICE. So, enough of the breast-beating. OP will be responsible for their own life choices, not the mistakes and choices of others.

If talking of taking drugs disturbs you then you have the choice read, don't you. Thread title is pretty clear.

HollyBrrr · 21/01/2014 23:39

Wow, what a lot of people ignoring the horrendous consequences of funding an illegal drug trade because 'it makes me feel good!'.

goinggreyagain · 21/01/2014 23:41

This thread has upset me (not in a good place today) but I am so upset and angry at the lack of education regarding this stuff.. and no taking some party drug at a rave does not make you an expert. Anyone interested in the actual mechanics of what all this crap does to brain chemistry should take a look at the UCLA medical center information. There is also a good website that gives you data on what exactly is in so much of this crap
As for the well its not all bad outlook, let me ask you how many dead kids does it take for it to be a negative for you ?
The poster who said well as long as you don't intend to be an addict you will be fine...ffs. Do people really still think this way.
All this without even touching the global issues, you know things like the 9 women in Vietnam who were just sentenced to death for trafficking just so you can get your nice little high after a tough day.....

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/01/2014 23:42

and what Alifelivedforwards said, all of it.

Idespair · 21/01/2014 23:43

It's illegal.
And very stupid because it could have been cut with something nasty.
Why would you take such risks for a quick high?
I would not object to you taking it if a) it was legal and b) it was produced by a reputable company and came with guidelines.
Don't do it OP.

AmberLeaf · 21/01/2014 23:44

im sorry that this thread has upset you goinggrey. Thanks

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 23:44

no, the best thing about the mdma is the buzz, the euphoria - I have manic depression, I can do Staying Awake or living on very little sleep extremely well without chemical assistance!

it also makes me feel more connected to people, safer, happier, warmer and more loving - some drs think of it is a 'truth drug' but am not sure about that, it definitely opens me up a bit though

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:44

i too am surprised at how many people don't make a connection between drugs and mental health problems.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:45

yeah that's what i meant when i said something alone the lines of needing drugs to be content.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2014 23:45

I am sorry today isn't a good day, goinggrey

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 23:46

that was to vampyre asking if the best thing about MDMA was staying awake

this must be a very difficult thread for you goingrey, sorry if I have contributed to your pain

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/01/2014 23:46

HollyBrrr... Not ignoring no; it's acknowledged. There are plenty of bad choices that people make because they want to. Those choices have an impact on others, often adversely, and people still make those choices.

I don't see the point of delivering a lecture really; people are either already well aware or can source the information for themselves.

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 23:48

we use drugs to treat mental health problems and drugs (prescription and otherwise) can induce mental health problems too

I don't think that's a secret, something like 60% of people with my one (bipolar) will use substances like alcohol or drugs that were not prescribed for them - they go hand in hand

McFox · 21/01/2014 23:49

Holly, I think you'll find that no-one has been flag waving for criminality. Making drugs illegal has led to the global drugs trade and all the misery that brings, just as alcohol prohibition did/would now too. Lots of people have acknowledged this and the debate about the decriminalisation of drugs is bigger than this thread can take.

I suspect that it's people's honesty that it really bothering you. There's plenty of education out there, people understand the risks and do it anyway.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 21/01/2014 23:50

How depressing that people think someone anonymously saying they enjoyed drugs is worthy of congratulations. How very 15 of you Hmm

McFox · 21/01/2014 23:50

Sorry that this thread is upsetting you goinggrey.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:51

indeed silly. it takes balls you see...

GlitzAndGiggles · 21/01/2014 23:52

I've taken speed once at a party when I was 16 to see what all the hype was about. The high felt good at the time but the next day I felt rubbish. I was all clogged up and felt down. I wouldn't take it again. As someone has said drugs can be laced with anything. I've also been spiked with roofy on a night out and I think that's what put me off ever doing drugs again. The fear that you don't actually know what you're taking. Drug dealers are more worried about getting quick money than your life

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:52

although i reckon some of them jumped at the chance to share with us how impulsive and awesome they are Grin

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 23:54

people should be able to talk about this sort of thing really

AmberLeaf · 21/01/2014 23:54

drug dealers want a steady stream of income. typically from the same bunch of people who will keep coming back.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:55

i've done far more stupid things than i care to remember and the reason i wouldn't want to go into detail is embarrassment rather than lack of balls but i am certain, from experience, about the psychological issues link.

McFox · 21/01/2014 23:56

SillyBilly, I take it that was aimed at me? If you read my comments properly, that's not what was said. I received messages saying that it was refreshing to see someone speaking honestly and sensibly about taking recreational drugs. That's not congratulatory re taking drugs, but is about tone and stance. There's an awful lot of hysterical hand-wringing regarding this subject, and I don't feel like we need any more.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 21/01/2014 23:56

imagine if someone had said they enjoyed shoplifting because of the 'buzz' or speeding or something... ridiculous!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/01/2014 23:58

Well, I'm definitely not 15, nor impulsive or awesome. I don't drink, smoke, take drugs or go to bed later than 8pm ok, I'm lying about the last one.

People do what they do, whether others agree or not. It doesn't mean they require a big, fat, judgemental label applied to them as a person just because someone doesn't approve of their behaviour. Distinct and entirely separate.
