I'm nearing a significant and have a bit of a bucket list.
This is one thing that I'm considering.
Sourcing it shouldn't be a problem.
I've tried softer drugs in my midtwenties, but am now just got a yearning to give it a go in a very controlled environment. But and a little bit concerned about the aftermath.
AIBU to be thinking like this?

isn't part of the pull to drugs is that it is illegal, it is something that you are not meant to do

if you can buy e's at your sweetshop will rebellious teenagers not look for something else society disapproves of

NigellasDealer · 21/01/2014 15:42

no they wouldn't be for sale in the sweetshop they would be in the pharmacy for over 18s, just like opium and cannabis were before 1914 (you see I have it all planned)

Thants · 21/01/2014 15:47

Freudian no I don't think so. A lot of my friends at uni switched from illegal drugs to mephadrone when it was legal because it was super cheap, easy to get hold of, less risky to take out to clubs and gave a good high.
Now that it's illegal they have switched back to illegal drugs which are less regulated and are cut with awful things. Banning it was moronic.

NigellasDealer · 21/01/2014 15:48

mephedrone was legal? yuk, horrible stuff from what i have heard

Millionprammiles · 21/01/2014 16:08

A teensy bit of overreacting from some posters possibly (ducks)? The OP isn’t saying she’s going to sell drugs to children or that they’re harmless. Yes some drugs are illegal and bad for you but lots of things that are legal are also bad for you.

Anyway two good reasons NOT to bother trying coke:

  • The exploitation/trafficking consequences of how coke is sourced, rightly raised by other posters;
  • Its likely to be a disappointment and a waste of money (and possibly give you diarrhoea, not nice).

If you really want to try something perhaps try a (currently) legal high as others have suggested. In small doses, safe environment and on the strict condition you don’t become an addict or a dealer.

Frostycake · 21/01/2014 16:17

I've always wanted to try it too but wouldn't have a clue about getting hold of it. I must have clean living friends too because they said the same. I might be too old now though Grin

DownstairsMixUp · 21/01/2014 16:22

I've done it but never paid for it. I don't agree it's all shit, you can get some and it's pretty pants but I've tried some good stuff, though it always used to mess with my sleeping. I'd feel desperately tired but my mind would just be going tick tick tick over and over and I'd not be able to. I'd never pay for it ever and I doubt I'd ever do it again. So if i were you, i wouldn't bother. Even E seems ok at the time, next day not so much and seeing photos is pretty cringe. Save your money for alcohol, tis much better :-)

AmberLeaf · 21/01/2014 16:22

aren't those legal highs dangerous?

im sure I've seen something about a teen dying after using a legal high.

AmberLeaf · 21/01/2014 16:26

re the statistics about alcohol/drugs and alcohol use being higher;

I accept that it is likely that more people drink, but I think it would be harder to get a true statistic about drug use because people would be reluctant to admit drug use due to its illegality and concerns about being judged.

Belize · 21/01/2014 17:09

I agree with Noddy that all the people I knew taking drugs in their 20's (including me) are no longer interested whatsoever. Wasn't coke but E's, speed, weed and mushrooms etc.

Also agree that just because you get really into it for a while doesn't necessarily mean to say you go on to destroy your life. For most people it is a self limiting phase thank god.

I really feel for the posters who have lost family and friends through drug related problems - must be absolutely awful to read people being so flippant about it on here Sad.

HelloBoys · 21/01/2014 17:12

I'd rather have tried drugs and had a few hedonistic years than be like a few of my friends with kids now who have wine o'clock and easily down a bottle or 2 a night.... judgmental moi?! Grin

the legal high for a few ex colleagues of mine was I think cava cava or something and red wine - something herbal. they said it gave them a buzz. i never tried it

HelloBoys · 21/01/2014 17:13

oh yes and I am not interested in drugs now at all. wouldn't touch, wouldn't bother.

I think sometimes of certain ones (Doves, Pink Callies (speedy Es) which were excellent and if they were the same as they were back in the old days I'd be tempted. but then I think I've hammered a lot of the brain cells to smithereens by now!

Belize · 21/01/2014 17:15

Rhubarb and Custard

HelloBoys · 21/01/2014 17:16

is that code Belize?!

HelloBoys · 21/01/2014 17:18

belize.... 90's girl eh?! Wink

Belize · 21/01/2014 17:25

Definitely a 90's raver Wink! Loved it Grin!

HelloBoys · 21/01/2014 17:27

LOL Belize that was my brother's era - there was Charley the cat and that song and Baby D etc...

I was more late 90's/2000 onwards mark.

My brother had whistles, acid house badges then changing colour t-shirts etc and raves in a field. I had clubs where guest list was key and more glam house music crowd! LOVED IT THOUGH! Grin

Belize · 21/01/2014 17:32

Mine was all illegal warehouses, beaches, forests, seafronts, fields, commons, airfields. Loads of travellers, old buses, week long parties, meeting in service stations, police cells (ahem) .

KatieScarlett2833 · 21/01/2014 17:33

I never got along with ecstasy, I just used to puke.
Coke was all hype, tried it and was completely underwhelmed.
Speed was better, except for the twitching and the hideous come down.
Was too scared to try acid, etc.
Never liked alcohol, the taste or the effect.
The best drug I ever had was diamorphine while in labour with DD. Liked it so much I know I could easily become addicted, so will avoid like the plague for ever.

McFox · 21/01/2014 17:34

Ah Belize, mine too (apart from the cells), what a fab time :)

mistermakersgloopyglue · 21/01/2014 17:50

Op, I thought you were just nostalgically looking back on your your and wishing you had done some then, not actually thinking about 'sourcing' some and trying it in a 'controlled environment'.

Sometimes I wish I had tried a few drugs when I was younger. However I would never do it now, mainly because I would fee like an absolute SADDO!

KatieScarlett2833 · 21/01/2014 17:54

Yes mister, apart from the ethics and consequences, there is nothing sadder than a middle aged person trollied on any substance in public.

ziggiestardust · 21/01/2014 18:04

Why on earth would you? Just why?

Have you got any idea how many people have suffered; been tortured and abused in horrible ways for your thrill?

I used to be in the Navy. We did an anti drugs patrol in the Caribbean. We caught a fella in a 'go fast' boat transporting cocaine, and we held him and another we caught in another boat. My friend was his handler, and she said he had told them that his family had been kidnapped and held to ransom for transporting the cocaine. He asked to be shot, because his wife and children would now be dead.

Some of the drug runners also traffic people as well, in the boats. The boats are semi open, and the people cover the bales. One of our patrols stopped them, and the runners threw the bales over board, as well as the people, whilst they got away. Many of the people were maimed before they were thrown overboard so that they would drown.

That is where your drugs come from. Do you understand that? Do you know that by buying said drug for your cheap thrill, that many people will have died, had their lives ruined, and been irreprably damaged?

So yes, you are being VERY unreasonable.

ziggiestardust · 21/01/2014 18:07

^^and those bodies were those of women and children. Innocent people. Just like you and your children, but they were born in the wrong country.

We found their bodies in the water for days after, and it was the most gut wrenching, soul crushing thing in the world.
