This has got to be the most annoying childrens programme ever, ever, ever made...aside from Justins house and possibly Gigglebiz..

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 17/01/2014 00:19

How can you hate Balamory? I love it for the comedy genius of "Miss Hooley's furry muff" episode alone Grin. How the hell she managed to keep a straight face whilst asking PC Plum if he'd like to "warm your hands in my furry muff" is beyond me Grin.

My CBeebies/Nick Jr. hate list is as follows; (I've stopped short of laminating it)

Olive The Ostrich
Me Too
My Story
Nina And The Neurons (go engineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeering elsewhere please)
Katie Morag (new programme, can't go 20 seconds without saying "Katie Morag" - so much so that you lose sense of what the words actually mean) and;
The new CBeebies programme about a girl called Melody

I love Peppa Pig though!

psynl · 17/01/2014 01:56

I used imagine that Balmory was an experiment being run by a dr evil type gp, who medicated the town wholesale with valium and other mindbending drugs.
It was the only feasible explanation I could come up with that explains the constant happiness and ocd colour coding of houses/clothes and make up. passed the time I suppose

Why the fuck has postman pat got a helicopter?

SamHamwidge · 17/01/2014 02:14

Is one of the grannies in Katie morag (the well dressed one) the woman who used to play Rab C Nesbitt's friends wife (the one with the tall red hair)
It's bugging me!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 17/01/2014 03:05

psynl I love your evaluation of Balamory, cheered me right up! I think it's the realisation that after 6 long years DC2 is on the way so our CBeebies days are not over!!
I will have to endure Ben 10, Monsuno etc as well as Teletubbies, Iggle Sodding Piggle and Balamory all over again (wouldn't change it for the world though - silly grin)

JupiterGentlefly · 17/01/2014 03:17

I feel quite sad having read this that we are way past this stage. Tikkabilla I hated. Story makers was fab though especially blue cow!

Kat3L · 17/01/2014 05:22

psynl thank v much for the links, I'll be checking them out later!

FlyAwayToMalibu · 17/01/2014 07:07

"We can plaaaay, day after day, where the fuuuun that never ends!"

Surely smug topsy and Tim has to be a contender?

EugenesAxe · 17/01/2014 08:15

Oh no I love half of these things. Kerwhizz, Nina, Sarah & Duck , Gigglebiz, Octonauts for example.

I hate Balamory along with shit loads of others that I just find dull, dull, dull. I'm afraid I have an irrational hatred of Miss Hoolie's colossal gravestone teeth.

Postman Pat I have often remarked is a fucking imbecile and I agree with the poster that said about RM being understandably in trouble :D

It's the way he thinks it's OK to have a nosey at 'what it is today' that does my head in. "Oh no! I've taken out your parcel, had a play with it and now it's broken. But never mind, I've got Reg to fix it with a pig's trough and duck tape, so that's Mission Accomplished!"

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 17/01/2014 08:27

I used to love balamory!

The dses are too old nowSad

Used to love tikka billa too.

Backyardigans, I miss the most. I still have random bits of Backyardigans songs going round my head. The dses don't remember it at all!

JennyPiccolo · 17/01/2014 08:35

I saw PC Plum at gay pride in Glasgow in the summer. He's lost a tonne of weight.

Miss Hooley is married to Greg Hemphill off of Still Game and Chewin the Fat.

Spencer apparently drives a bus in Tayside now.

Heathcliff27 · 17/01/2014 08:48

I'd forgotten about carrie and david...

Sparklymommy · 17/01/2014 08:51

Aaaw, I loved Spencer! He was a sweetie. PC Plum's smile used to drive me crazy. Miss Hooley was pretty useless. Archie is making a name for himself in comedy.

Sarah Jane has admitted to major drug problems. Which isn't actually a surprise, but it is quite sad to think that a lot of children's tv stars struggle with drug addictions.

My personal bug bear is Justin or Mr Tumble fame. I am sure kids would love him as an uncle but he drives me absolutely potty! And reminds me of my brother for some bizarre reason!

StealthPolarBear · 17/01/2014 08:57

I loved tikkabila and carrie and dave and balamory. Susie sweet dead? :( (cant remember which was which but I assume she was the older lady?)
Hate me too. They all had su h depressing jobs other than the doctor and the guy who worked on the train.

BobaFetaCheese · 17/01/2014 08:58

I raise you Wonderpets. Big ol pile of singing duck shite.

I hate Justin, ds1, who is 2 has realised he and Tumble are the same person but not Grandad/Lord/Chef Tumble. Looking forward to that penny dropping.

I like Balamory.

Me Too is another pile o shite.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/01/2014 09:03

Oh god it's awful.

Seriously worry about a village where the local policeman can't even figure out he needs a hair cut on his own.

Wasn't the artist guy on it, the one with the port star daughter?

It's awful awful awful

As is me too
And anything with justin fletcher
Baby jake

In fact cbeebies is banned in my house due to excessive shite

Heathcliff27 · 17/01/2014 09:21

I am on my 3rd round of such shiteness but am smugly aware that the end is in sight now, with DS it was tellytubbies, thomas, barney and the like. DD1 was fifi, balamory, tweenies me too etc and with DD2 its peppa pig, mickey mouse, tweenies. We have progressed also to the Good Luck Charlie, Victorious. It used to be Drake and Josh that was never off.

Living in scotland I have also had 3 rounds of singing fucking kettle live shows.

lottiegarbanzo · 17/01/2014 09:26

Oh, I like Balamory. I always think Plum and Archie have quite a special friendship, so that's no surprise, JennyPiccolo!

We love Sarah and Duck. Toddler dd is obsessed. I like the art nouveau styling and the music.

Gigglebiz is clearly hideous, though I've never watched a full episode. I can understand that children like obvious humour and slapstick but why do they need an interpretation of the worst sort of 70s working men's club cross-dressing 'entertainers'? Why not chuck in a couple of mother-in-law jokes hmm?

Mr Tumble is ok though.

lottiegarbanzo · 17/01/2014 09:31

We went to Tobermory pre-dd but some time post the making of Balamory. The most interesting aspects were not especially child-friendly: a cute little local museum (in the church) with lots of rocks, chips on the seafront fending off seagulls and, the distillery.

peppinagiro · 17/01/2014 10:51

My favourite bit in Balamory is when the kids get off the bus, and the special note of weary resignation and despair with which Miss Hooley welcomes Ryan. Every time.

Hello Reagan!
There's Kyle!
In you come Connor!
Hello, Ryan. Angry

Makes me laugh everytime. DH and I like to imagine what the Ryan/Miss Hooley backstory is.

Gileswithachainsaw · 17/01/2014 10:57

:o

Maybe Ryan asked her why she never changes her clothes?

Or told her you can see her thong line?

chubbychipmonk · 17/01/2014 10:58

Eadie Mc Creadie! 'When I honk my horn, step inside'

She blatantly the village hussy! Grin

IdaClair · 17/01/2014 11:10

How has nobody mentioned Carrie and David's pop shop? Godawful cringey shite

pertempsnooo · 17/01/2014 11:11

Ugh tweenies with the insanely annoying voices! And I hate all the computer animated Thomas and suchlike. Rubbish. Even my kids hate it! Balamory is truly an insane place. My friend was told she looks like miss huley. She was thrilled..
Hmm

peppinagiro · 17/01/2014 11:21

Giles or maybe he exposed the drug habit which sees her going on such mad benders that the next morning she has no memory of the strange things she's stored in her own cupboard?
