Am I right or wrong? About tea.

I was making dh a cup of tea this morning and apparently made a massive faux pas. I used a fork to stir it instead of a spoon as the spoons needed washing up awful slattern.

I can't see that it makes any bloody difference at all, but according to dh it makes a massive difference as the fork has gaps so doesn't stir the tea properly.

I have done this many a time before and he has never commented, but apparently he will have been able to tell and has thought it was just a weak tea.

I may have poured the tea in the sink and told him to make his own so i'm quite hoping I am not bu! I don't drink tea, only coffee so he says I wouldn't understand.

I caught my work colleague (and good friend) getting my tea bag out WITH HIS FINGERS - aaaarrrghhhh.

Mim78 · 14/01/2014 09:49

I agree it was kind of you to make the tea and he should not complain! Only issue with fork is as mentioned it might split the bag.

MrsOakenshield · 14/01/2014 09:50

what were you stirring - the milk in? Can't see how it makes a difference, but I don't have milk in tea.

Koothrapanties · 14/01/2014 09:51

Those of you who agree with him. What is your reason? By would it make it any different? The water is still moved through the tea, why won't it be just as good?

I didn't get to the milk part, it was down the sink by then! I was just stirring the teabag around.

YANBU.

Grin This did make me laugh - your poor traumatised DH!

I stir my tea with all sorts of utensils Grin

Rockchick1984 · 14/01/2014 09:52

No way will he be able to tell! My ex always swore he could tell if I'd used the same spoon (rinsed!!!) to make his tea as I used for my coffee!

Koothrapanties · 14/01/2014 09:54

Writer don't feel sorry for him, he's an ungrateful bugger!

ScarletLady02 · 14/01/2014 09:57

My Dad has "cereal bowls", "soup bowls", "mixing bowls etc

He swore blind he could tell if I'd used one of the bowls not for it's intended purpose. Especially if I made tuna mayonnaise in a cereal bowl...CARDINAL SIN!!! He could even tell if I washed the bowl thoroughly and put it back exactly where I got it from Grin

Koothrapanties · 14/01/2014 09:58

Right he's back. I shall report back

You turn the fork upside down, you don't use the tines.

boobyooby · 14/01/2014 10:00

I'd be inclined to make his tea using a fork only from now on :D

Latara · 14/01/2014 10:02

It makes no difference! glad u made him make his own tea :)

Koothrapanties · 14/01/2014 10:02

Sash - but why? What is the reasoning behind the fear of tines??

OP posts:
bubblebabeuk · 14/01/2014 10:03

Would stiring your tea with a fork be reasonable grounds for divorce then?

Beeyump · 14/01/2014 10:04

Grr, all these people who care so much about how their tea is made (i.e. my boyfriend). It does not matter! Fork or spoon, milk first or after, teabag in for 2 minutes or 3... I don't care! It's just a cup of tea!

And breathe.

ScarletLady02 · 14/01/2014 10:06

To be fair Beeyump there is a certain art to a good cuppa...I can't stand weak tea. I'm quite fussy about mine...which is why I generally make it myself and also why I married DH as he makes a good COT too Grin

LividofLondon · 14/01/2014 10:08

YANBU. I really can't see what difference it makes, but would be interested to hear the results of the blind trial Grin What does he say about those thin wooden stirrers you get in cafes, Kooth?

Koothrapanties · 14/01/2014 10:16

HE LOST! I made three cups of tea. Let the bag sit for 30 seconds, then stirred 15 times exactly. He couldn't tell the bloody difference and is now very apologetic for being an arse. I am victorious!

Livid apparently they are 'fucking useless'.

Binkyridesagain · 14/01/2014 10:20

I drink lots of tea I couldn't care less what utensil you use to stir it as long as its a decent cuppa.

My DH however is not normal and drinks funny teas, he has a variety of drinking pots, tea pots, infusers and special straws, use the wrong tea and pot he has a melt down. The only dink I will now make him is coffee.

Aliama · 14/01/2014 10:22

Ha ha, I suspected he would.

MerryMarigold · 14/01/2014 10:22

I agree about those wooden sticks. It's impossible to get the bag out of the cup!

you must be feeling so smug and deservedly. Oh, there's nothing better than a good bit of smugness.

phantomnamechanger · 14/01/2014 10:26

Wally! he owes you tea whenever you desire it for at least the next month!
