Am I right or wrong? About tea.

I was making dh a cup of tea this morning and apparently made a massive faux pas. I used a fork to stir it instead of a spoon as the spoons needed washing up awful slattern.

I can't see that it makes any bloody difference at all, but according to dh it makes a massive difference as the fork has gaps so doesn't stir the tea properly.

I have done this many a time before and he has never commented, but apparently he will have been able to tell and has thought it was just a weak tea.

I may have poured the tea in the sink and told him to make his own so i'm quite hoping I am not bu! I don't drink tea, only coffee so he says I wouldn't understand.

I, too, can't see what's wrong with using a fork - but then I don't drink tea either!

If I had to use a fork to make tea I would tip it upside down and use the handle.
Not because of gaps though but because I wouldn't want to break the teabag with the fork.

Easy way to tell who's BU - do a blind test. Make five cups of tea stirred with a spoon and one with a fork.

I make a damn fine cuppa and I'd have no problem using a fork, knife or other utensil if needed also awful slattern

I sometimes go one step further and stir it with the other end of the fork. My DH is a builder and sometimes he stirs his tea with his screw driver!

Your DH is forking barking :)

I bet he secretly has tried to eat soup with a fork or something odd like that and he gets a bit nervous when you use the forks just in case you detect his odd fork usage

If anyone was kind enough to make me a cup of tea I wouldn't care what they used to stir it with (perhaps draw the line at body parts).
He should have smiled and profusely thanked you!

YANBU. The end of a pencil or a screwdriver is also acceptable.

Precious - thank you ever so much for the offer. We have a strange phenomenon going on here. There are six of every other piece of cutlery, but only two teaspoons. No idea where they have shuffled off to!

I agree it was kind of you to make the tea and he should not complain! Only issue with fork is as mentioned it might split the bag.

I use pg tips pyramid bags and often just grab a corner with my fingers and dunk it a few times. Tbf I wouldn't do that for guests but tea is my drug of choice when trying to remain patient with whining kids.

Coffee scoop handle, fork, potato peeler, veg knife - tea tastes just the same.

I knew it! He has just gone to the shop, but when he comes back I will do the test. He is somewhat worryingly confident though!

No, totally blind test. Leave it for a few weeks, then start stirring every cup of tea that you make for him with a fork. Tell him three weeks later that he's been drinking fork-stirred tea for nearly a month, and why hasn't he complained yet?
