Bought a thermometer yesterday.

It's a peppa pig thermometer.......the only one's the shop had

On the front of the packet it says 'see inside for instructions'

Took it to customer services who said 'it goes in the mouth or armpit

Open it and the inside instructions state it's a rectal thermometer!

I purchased this as everyone is a bit unwell and I don't have a thermometer. Most of us have been fevery so seemed like a good idea at the time

But everyone in the house is over 16, and a bit adverse to sticking it up there bums

I feel cheated

I'm sorry but that is hilarious!!!

Jinglebells99 · 09/01/2014 22:01

Why did you buy a peppa pig one when you are all over 16?! I understand your frustration tho :)

BlackDaisies · 09/01/2014 22:02

That's the best laugh I've had all week Grin

Beavie · 09/01/2014 22:03

Crikey. Imagining hoards of toddlers traumatised after being anally probed by peppa.

heypixie · 09/01/2014 22:03

It was the only one the shop had apparently.

MoreSkyThanWeNeed · 09/01/2014 22:05

I would not borrow a thermometer from the customer services folk - they are putting rectal thermometers in their mouths. Yum.

Poor you. And poor Peppa come to think of it.

Surely a giggle at this will make you feel better!

galwaygirl · 09/01/2014 22:06

Haha, I'm not in the UK and after I had DC2 they though I was really weird in the hospital for refusing to have my temp taken rectally.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 09/01/2014 22:06

why, just why would peppa pig be on an rectal thermometer.

scrap that why would any body actually have a rectal thermometer, why there is less probing ones.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 09/01/2014 22:09

Will no-one think of the peppa!

Yes- why would anyone use a rectal thermometer? There is no need at all for it.

Spockster · 09/01/2014 22:11

Assuming it is not second hand, it really doesn't matter which orifice you stick it in.

FrillyMilly · 09/01/2014 22:14

That is hilarious!

Seriously though I have a thermometer that can be used orally, under armpit or rectally. I don't however use it rectally. Can you not just put it under your armpit and see what happens? I didn't realise there where special rectal ones.

RoseRedder · 09/01/2014 22:14

The packet reads

Peppa Pig Digital Thermometer

Calms kid in an instant

Printed with a friendly picture of Peppa Pig to help relax and make temperature readings easier to take.
Includes a flexible tip

Peppa Pig - with flexible tip for oral, rectal or underarm use

You must have skipped a few words! Just remember which orifice you choose.

FannyFifer · 09/01/2014 22:20

But how would the Peppa Pig picture calm a child, they can't see it if it's shoved up their arse.

Wouldn't like to see the size of the Daddy Pig thermometer though!

This thread is ace!

'Calms kid in an instant' GrinGrinGrin

RoseRedder · 09/01/2014 22:21

that's the one EdithWeston

The inside instructions are rectal say nothing about oral or underarm?

Can I put it in my mouth then?

breatheslowly · 09/01/2014 22:22

Surely a thermometer can measure temperature wherever it is put (not the ear ones though). The reference ranges might be a bit different depending on where you put it.

NigellasDealer · 09/01/2014 22:23

Grin lolollololol

KateSpade · 09/01/2014 22:30

Im confused as to why there is still a demand for them?

I have a thermometer that doesn't need to touch any part of the body whatsoever! They are the future!

RoseRedder · 09/01/2014 22:37

I've taken my temperature and I'm 35.2

Is that normal?

OP posts:
NigellasDealer · 09/01/2014 22:38

Q. what is the difference between an oral and an anal thermometer?
A. the taste

BOFalicious · 09/01/2014 22:40

Kate, are you confusing that with a barometer? Grin

RoseRedder · 09/01/2014 22:40

34.4 orally?

Am I dead?

OP posts:
magimedi · 09/01/2014 22:41

Just take a moment to think of the poor pig, will you.

OP - your temp sounds sub normal to me - normal is 37C
