I absolutely know I'm being unreasonable but...

On my news feed today was:

2 pregnancy announcements
3 engagements
Far too many 'oh I'm such a lucky girl look what my boyfriend/man/hubby bought me' and accompanying photos
And loads and loads of 'what an amazing Xmas with all our family and friends'

I'm sure I should think 'oh how lovely' but having spent Xmas at home with me and DC (no other family) and not having anyone to buy me flashy presents, I'm just a bit Envy I guess...

Well

GeneHuntsMistress · 26/12/2013 14:23

Then switch off Facebook...?

mrscumberbatch · 26/12/2013 14:23

Oh I don't know OP, I'm quite jealous that you get to have Xmas with your DCs on your own!

Horses for courses I suppose!
Wink

YouTheCat · 26/12/2013 14:23

Why do you need flashy presents to make you happy?

MamaBear17 · 26/12/2013 14:24

Sorry, silly phone! You can be as unreasonable as you like with your own private thoughts. As long as you don't say it publicly. I have eye rolled my way through most of the posts on my newsfeed too!

formerbabe · 26/12/2013 14:25

Vomit! I agree...

Ooohhh look what my hubby bought me (accompanying photo of diamonds)!

parakeet · 26/12/2013 14:25

I am boycotting FB until about 3 or 4 January, to avoid polluting my eyes with the "I'm so blessed" comments. C'mon, you knew what it would be like, so why look?

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 26/12/2013 14:25

I'm always pleased for my friends. If you aren't just defriend them.

drivingmisslazy · 26/12/2013 14:26

Then switch off Facebook...?

                          ^

This.

All the people I have on facebook are family and very close friends, and I would be happy for them.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 26/12/2013 14:26

Turn fb off or hide their status updates.

MaeveORave · 26/12/2013 14:26

Yeh shuddddup boasting !

People can either b enjoying life, or they can b busy posting photos on fb to let everybody know they r enjoying life! NOT both!

MaeveORave · 26/12/2013 14:27

Lol parakeet!

"Im so blessed"

"Im so nawshuss" :-p

Thumbnutstwitchingonanopenfire · 26/12/2013 14:27

Agree - if you're finding it all too irritating, then switch if off. It's ok, no one will know you've done it! Xmas Grin

VelvetSpoon · 26/12/2013 14:28

I can buy my own flashy presents tbh so it's not like I need anyone to buy me things, it's just not quite the same - I did get presents from the DC this year (first year ever!) which was a lovely surprise. So that's something :)

Facebook is not a good place to go if you're feeling bummed out.
Facebook shows the edited highlights of everybody's lives...apart from those who use it as a medium to complain instead.

If you're feeling too delicate for thos edited highlights, stay away. x

VelvetSpoon · 26/12/2013 14:33

I only went on there because I had a couple of notifications flashing on my phone. I will avoid it for the next few days!

Should add that seeing pics of kids riding bikes/playing with new toys don't annoy me at all...something about Xmas being for kids maybe?

MaeveORave · 26/12/2013 14:35

The evidence suggests single women are happier than married women.
One woman i know who posts boasty shite, she was telling me her husband wouldnt slow down driving 120km and she was asking him to slow down and he wouldnt. I said "that is so disrespectful to u" but she couldnt acknowledge that. Said "oh he jyst loves driving". God love her. She is one for the "i am blessed" statusw.

Zucker · 26/12/2013 14:35

I saw a status that read "having too much of a fab christmas to be on facebook"

erm okay then Confused

YouTheCat · 26/12/2013 14:35

Christmas is for everybody.

Celticlassie · 26/12/2013 14:36

The pregnancy and engagements are fair enough, as fbook is a nice way to share news like that, but I wouldn't be posting pics of presents - definitely smacks of showing off.

GodRestTEEMerryGenTEEmen · 26/12/2013 14:37

I'm going to say this for the 1m time.

Facebook is not required in life. If it pisses you off to see others enjoy their lives? Delete your Facebook and move on with your life.

FFS

MaeveORave · 26/12/2013 14:41

No.

I use it to communicate with people. I use it on my own terms.
Not going to told to leave it because random boasty eejits are making asses of themselves! It doesnt upset me. Im a little embarrassed on other people's behalves sometimes but im not leaving fb.

Fb like real life in some ways. Insecure people mean well and might have kind hearts but they can be needy/attention seeking/ boastful......

livinginawinterwonderland · 26/12/2013 14:43

Christmas is for everyone and Facebook is not obligatory!

mistermakersgloopyglue · 26/12/2013 14:46

Ah yes, the good old 'feeling blessed' emoticon thingy. Gah!

annieorangutan · 26/12/2013 14:48

you never know you might meet the love of your life in 2014!
