It is probably present pile envy but I am finding it a bit vulgar. Plus it is making our small pile look crap.

It makes me smile.

I remember coming dowstairs when I was little and narly exploding with excitment at Present Mountian.

They weren't expensive, and they were for all three of us. My mum was just really good at bargin hunting all year round so when they were wrapped it really did look like Christmas Toy Factory Elf had moved operstions to our house.

When I see other people's piles of pressie under the tree I get a momentsry "total recall" of my child self and our pile. Happy days long gone by, so sweet nostalgia for me.

DS's pile was tiny but quite expensive, he's 13, so we are past the buy it cheap, pile it high stage of him wanting lots of stuff to open of reletively low value. I have posted a picture of him grinning from ear to ear with his Best Prest Ever on his head. It's just shareing my child's joy and I reckon the pressie pile pics will be mostly in the same vein.

Fanjo - ds1 never used to open presents. We'd still be wading through them unopened in the new year. Or I'd open them & he'd drop them & walk off.

Then suddenly last year (aged 13) he was interested. I'd only wrapped one for him!

This year he's delighted with presents & wandered up to me with wrapping paper in hand to ask whether there were any more! I would never have predicted he'd 'get' or understand presents ever. Hang on in there xx

Oh & my dog has learned to open presents. I intend to video him (he is very gentle)

Surely Facebook is for your FRIENDS? If you don't like these people enough to think "how nice to see them enjoying themselves", you can always unfriend them.

Merry Christmas all!

You get a good idea of who would have joined the Puritans from some of the postings on here

FB use is the mark of the vacuous, why would I be envious of that?

I posted pictures so that all the family we don't get to see who sent presents could see my DCs opening them. Yes they had a massive pile, but if anyone on my friends lilts feels like deleting me because of it ho hum.

I spent about £150 between my two and there are loads of presents because I got bargains. Agree with the posters who say FB isn't compulsory.

Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Hm yes I find it a bit sickening, there'll definitely be a facebook cull in the new year :)

Xmas Grin

...and who would be in the stocks of getting their ears cropped.

My son recently did a project on the Puritians , he was outraged at the idea that Christmas (and football) got cancelled,

He found a brill Puritan/Restoration Wife Swap video. Think actually it isn't a bad fit for this thread....

My step MIL has cancer, she's unable to visit. She's asked all children to post and tag her in photos, she's not techy but her daughter has set her up a Facebook.

Anyone getting their knickers in a twist over my photos can fuck off. They're for her, and my MIL and Mum who aren't here today either.

Merry Fucking Christmas

I don't spend lots on the dc at xmas but they end up with quite a lot if presents from family & friends. I put pictures on Facebook because none of our families are with us at all over xmas (too far away, with other family or not well enough) so it's the only way they get to see it.

Funny how my actual friends are nothing but delighted to share in our Christmas joy.

What a miserable lot y'all are.

Thanks saintly. She isn't 100% with chest infection so hoping she will show interest when better.

She has been enjoying the festive season.

Pictures of wrapped presents - fine and Christmassy. They could be for the whole family so you don't know how many people got, you cant see what they are so no idea how expensive and the picture is usually of the tree as well.

Pictures of unwrapped presents with comments like 'I've been such a lucky girl!' are boastful and vulgar.

My Christmas pictures and video (shock horror) have gone up on Facebook!

Some people have bigger piles, some people have more expensive presents that aren't just second hand socks wrapped individually but I am happy! The kids are happy and I actually got a pretty decent Christmas present from DH this year too!

Merry Christmas

I've never seen people post photos of piles of presents on facebook. Why? Seems odd to me Confused

Facebook is just show offy though. There are some very vulgar show offs all the year round.

I hate it sometimes. Deactivated my account as I just cannot be doing with it at the moment. I'm a big user normally. But seriously contemplating giving it up for New Year!

Me too, Beer.

I've been posting pictures of our Christmas from the moment the tree was decorated on 1st December until this morning when I put up a picture of the beginnings of bread sauce.

Oh and some of my son playing with his new toys.

Funny how all my friends are doing the same we're all liking and commenting.
