It is probably present pile envy but I am finding it a bit vulgar. Plus it is making our small pile look crap.

Misspixietrix · 25/12/2013 11:03

It is if you're photos aren't set to private but keep telling yourself that. And no not envious at all. My DCs had plenty of presents. I just didn't feel the need to have to post them all over facebook. Completely understand the poster who said she wanted to because DH was away though.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 25/12/2013 11:03

I am loving seeing all the pics of children over Facebook, m in work so it nice to see people enjoying themselves.

AmandaCooper · 25/12/2013 11:04

DS has a mountain of presents. I've been diligently scouring the charity shops for months and I've spent a total of £25.

BearsBeetsBattlestarGalactica · 25/12/2013 11:05

After about the 6th one that appeared on my newsfeed I decided to get in on it.

So I posted a pic of my tree with nothing under it and wrote;

'Santa's been!

The evil bastard stole all of the presents'

AndiMac · 25/12/2013 11:05

I prefer a picture with the family or just kids in front of said pile of presents and tree, as that's nicer than just a random tree with presents.

Having said this, I did post something a quote from DS who said, "It's a FEAST of presents under the tree!" I didn't mean it to sound like a brag, more just a funny and sweet way for a 4yo to describe it. But maybe it came across wrong to some people. But I can't control how someone else will feel about a statement. Just as the others who post a photo can't control how you'll feel about seeing their present pile. So, YAB a bit U.

tabulahrasa · 25/12/2013 11:07

I don't mind seeing photos of children opening their presents, that's nice.

I will admit to being a bit ShockHmm when someone on my facebook posted a pile of presents for their dog and it's more than my DC are getting, rofl.

SweetTeaVodka · 25/12/2013 11:10

I did a "Santa's been" photo post last night. If the others on my newsfeed are anything to go by, our pile is by far the smallest, not that it makes any difference to anyone else. I posted it to shafe the joy I am taking in my child's first Christmas abd being able to do these things now. I know that her grandparents and other relatives appreciated sharing in my excitement. I also know it won't have interested a number of people on my Facebook but I expect them just to scroll by, as I do to their posts about things I'm uninterested in (I.e. football).

BrianTheMole · 25/12/2013 11:10

I think its nice to see the pictures of my friends and family's children opening up their presents. Esp the ones who live miles away and I don't get to see often. Not sure why its boastful, especially as my dc have presents too. Bizarre what people read in to things. Confused

grumpyoldbat · 25/12/2013 11:13

It's kind of nice to see how proper people celebrate Christmas.

I do struggle a bit with envy and even more so with the immense guilt. I am aware though that I'm a shit excuse for a parent and a human being so it's not as if it's a surprise to me that everyone else is better than me.

Sp :( I'm just going to collect dd1.

IamInvisible · 25/12/2013 11:13

Good luck to the burglars here too. They'd have to get past a bloke with a machine gun stood at the gate first!

Glitterfeet · 25/12/2013 11:19

I haven't posted one but have no problem with it. Most of the ones of presents on my newsfeed haven been preceded by posts about drinking wine and the hell of wrapping. The picture of them under the tree is more a phew we're done. Most of the present piles are in the normal range, except one person who has 4 children.

MrsChristmasBungle · 25/12/2013 11:20

I like to see all the Christmassy photos of smiling kids with presents on Facebook. I don't understand what on earth is annoying about it.

Tiredemma · 25/12/2013 11:22

YANBU.

most of it looks like cheap shit anyway

usualsuspect · 25/12/2013 11:24

Merry Christmas to you miserable fuckers too.

notanotherusername1 · 25/12/2013 11:24

Why is anyone looking or caring?

Must be my age. Have zero interest in what others are doing/have bought.

Why is anyone feeling annoyed or envious on Christmas Day? Just enjoy your own day.

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 25/12/2013 11:25

I'm going to mums now. I have some presents there and my son is back at 4ish, maybe 5 if his dad pisses about. very likely

Off to go see 3/6 siblings too

Llareggub · 25/12/2013 11:25

Mine posed with nerf guns. That'll scare any prospective visitors away hopefully.

I am using mumsnet and Facebook because I am on my own with two insanely hyper children. I need the occasional contact with the adult world.

CoffeeTea103 · 25/12/2013 11:25

Don't be miserable.

MuttonCadet · 25/12/2013 11:26

I like to see photos of my friends children opening presents. I even like the ones with just the huge pile of presents imagining the kids faces when they come down on Christmas morning.
No reason to be grumpy about it. Hmm

MidniteScribbler · 25/12/2013 11:27

I'm so glad that the people who are facebook friends with me don't seem to obsess over what other people are posting and just enjoy seeing what others are doing. Our christmas is small compared to others, but I enjoyed taking a photo of the roast lunch I spent a couple of hours cooking, and my DS enjoying playing with his toys. If someone wants to be critical of those photos then they can fuck right off my friend list.

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 25/12/2013 11:28

Tired So what if its 'cheap shit'. Its not your cheap shit so what's the issue?

All this envy and nastiness about other people and their gifts. Its one day out of the year.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 25/12/2013 11:28

It doesn't bother me at all but I do find it a bit puzzling to see wrapped boxes. A couple of people on my FB have styled the photos really nicely though. I love seeing what people get more than the boxes tbh.

bebbeau · 25/12/2013 11:30

yanbu its show offy and materialistic IMO

a friend of mine put a pic of a huge pile along with gucci and chanel carrier bags in shot for good measure......this haul of presents was for her DD. Her dd is 6 months old

she works at asda and lives on my estate

Tiredemma · 25/12/2013 11:30
