It is probably present pile envy but I am finding it a bit vulgar. Plus it is making our small pile look crap.

Hear, hear, MrsD

wetaugust · 25/12/2013 21:59

I can't imagine any of my friends being the slighest bit interested in seeing a mound of wrapped Christmas presents.

Capturing the moment a child see their presents or opens theor presents - Yes, I can see the value in doing that for rellies / posterity etc.

But posting a shot of yer big pile of bling is (to me) just gross.

Saintly Loved your dog. His name suits him Grin

There are so.many joy suckers on MN now I think I should stick to vulgar FB.

wetaugust · 25/12/2013 22:02

.... and we'll be having the same discussion on here at here about Easter Egg FB shots.

Some dopey bugger even posted a picture of everything he'd looted during the London riots. What a dickhead.

usualsuspect · 25/12/2013 22:02

Always someone to piss on your Christmas on MN.

Philoslothy · 25/12/2013 22:02

We had some bling in our pile , if you can't have a bit of bling at Christmas when can you?

usualsuspect · 25/12/2013 22:03

I love a bit of bling.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2013 22:03

Oh no. Not Easter Egg pictures?

No bling here. Sad Two boys.

JingleBrains · 25/12/2013 22:07

MrsD no need to get defensive or take it personally.....You know what I mean about consumerism getting worse, surely? I mean people who DO travel, buy stuff they don't need etc

BrianTheMole · 25/12/2013 22:08

Ooh, my ds loves a bit of bling :-) luckily I'm not posting his bling to your friends wetaugust. Although they'd be a bit confused, after all they don't know him. Thats why we all have individual fb friends with just the people we like. Well, some of do anyway.

Philoslothy · 25/12/2013 22:08

My children have blinged up one of my riding hats with jewels and sequins. My stepson has also bought me a Katie Price riding socks and a matching sequin horse t shirt .

JingleBrains · 25/12/2013 22:10

Sorry didn't mean to spoil anyone's Christmas cheer. I just wish we didn't need so many presents to be merry.

Maybe presents add to the general merriness rather than being the sole reason for it.

wetaugust · 25/12/2013 22:12

My friends don't use FB thank goodness.

To be fair I am a rabid consumer all year , I have destroyed society.

IamInvisible · 25/12/2013 22:13

My kids get precious little through the year. Both of them have birthdays in December, DS2's was yesterday.

We don't drink, we don't go out every weekend and buy them something like a cheap toy/top like some people we know do, we don't go to the cinema hardly ever, we go on one holiday a year. Infact compared to a lot of people we do fuck all.

Yes we do spoil our children at Christmas, I'll hold my hands up. We don't get into debt for it. But do you know what? They deserve it. I am disabled, they put up with a lot, they have to clean the house, do stuff for me, cook meals and have responsibilities that none of their friends have. DH has been away since Sept 18th, if it weren't for my kids and the way they have helped out, he would have had to give up his job. DS1 has been running me to hospital appointments in 3 counties, he has booked leave so he can help me when DS2 has surgery. If I show my appreciation to them by saving throughout the year and giving them a good Christmas that's my lookout.

We know not everyone else is in the same boat. They are most certainly not brats, when DS2 was helping with Christmas cards, he asked why I sent them and why I didn't spend the money on food for the foodbank instead. Because he said that to me I bought stuff for the foodbank. DS1 can't sleep at night because he is so angry about what David Cameron is doing to the poor, sick and vulnerable in this country. He bought a PS3 game to put in the box for the local children's hospice that his work was collecting for.

They are really, really good kids and we are incredibly proud of them.

MrsD I do understand. But I also happen to know most of my FB friends (family included) rather well. They don't give a monkey's about things I am passionate about. I just struggle with the amount of waste around me

usualsuspect · 25/12/2013 22:20

It's good for the economy.

JingleBrains · 25/12/2013 22:20

Oh dear I seem to be saying all the wrong things here.

I really didn't mean to rile anyone. Hey Ho.

Philoslothy · 25/12/2013 22:20

It always amazes me on Here how negative people are about their FB friends . They are people you have chosen to add and share things with
