To ask what you spend your disposable income on?

Hi MN Smile

After taxes, bills, rent/mortgage , food basically everything - with the money that is left over how do you treat yourselves and what do you generally spend it on?

Personally: fresh flowers, 'luxury' bath products /creams and huge gorgeous candles. And a once weekly massage (I have a semi-physical job)

My best friend : monthly mini break (lucky cow), different ethnic restaurants and rare books.

What about you all?

The girl's ballet lessons. There's not a penny left over after that - in fact even that is a struggle Sad

Would love to be able to go for meals or buy nice stuff - even non-value food would be nice.

Hassled · 20/12/2013 20:01

Disposable income :o :o

Although - we do eat out way too often. I love eating out. And I spend too much on miracle face cream in the ridiculous hope it has the power to turn back time.

Brittabot · 20/12/2013 20:02

Wine. Hic!

musicposy · 20/12/2013 20:03

girls'

sorry pedants!

TheGinLushMinion · 20/12/2013 20:04

Gin, obviously Xmas Grin

usualsuspect · 20/12/2013 20:05

Vodka and fags.

loveolives · 20/12/2013 20:06

We both go out a lot socially so that's a fair chunk. I also like to dress us all in nice good quality clothes.

BikeRunSki · 20/12/2013 20:06

Childcare, parking for work!
Swimming lessons for the dc, and that really is it.

Fairylea · 20/12/2013 20:06

Utter crap. Usually from tesco thrown in with the weekly shop - books I never read, scented candles that dh says smell awful so I hardly use them, make up, luxury bath stuff and so on.

I fritter away my spending money. I wish I could save it up and buy something nice.

Dh saves all of his (we have an equal amount) and spends his on one big item every few months

noisytoys · 20/12/2013 20:07

School dinners (the DCs prefer them but I see them as a luxury because packed lunches are cheaper)

Debt overpayments

Shoes Grin

Employing a cleaner.

londonrach · 20/12/2013 20:08

Disposable income...whats that...i hear it out there but thought it was like a dodo egg. If ever i had 'disposable income' id buy one of those ipad things...i hear they are good. At moment i pay food, bills and rent and hope i cover them....

elvisola · 20/12/2013 20:10

My cleaner
Clothes for the children, I'm always popping into Next for a browse and usually end up buying something
Kids ballet, street dance and swimming lessons
Books
Wine

Elsiequadrille · 20/12/2013 20:11

Ballet, gymnastics and other classes (approx 65 hrs PM of gymnastics alone between the DC!) we count as bills.

Theatre tickets, nice make up, clothes. That sort of thing

InTheSpirit · 20/12/2013 20:11

makeup- , Lush Bath Bombs, L'Occitane products and a day out somewhere nice. Although with it being Xmas, it has gone on presents, wrapping paper, christmas cards, tape and... (My present to myself) Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallet because I had to have needed it Grin

tumbletumble · 20/12/2013 20:13

I spend a lot on books. I go out for a nice coffee every now and then.

We also try to save as much as we can

Totally random stuff! Earrings (no more than £15), clothes, kindle books, iTunes movie rentals, chocolate and smoked salmon, eating out ( mainly Sunday brunch), charity donations, fabric and wool, make-up.

BenNJerry · 20/12/2013 20:13

Books, make up, clothes for DS. Coffee shops are my main thing though, coffee at home never tastes the same. I go to a coffee shop about 3 times a week.

Oh, and I get acrylics done once a month... £40 a time. Blush

gordyslovesheep · 20/12/2013 20:14

horses and Gin

Newrowsees · 20/12/2013 20:14

A cleaner
Kindle books
Clothes (but only temporarily - I recently had to replace my wardrobe)
Home improvements - sooo much needs fixing but we have to do a little at a time as we can afford it.
The rest goes into savings.

FudgefaceMcZ · 20/12/2013 20:16

Kids activities. Pretentious 'craft' beer.

PumpkinPositive · 20/12/2013 20:16

I am trying to save £3 a day towards my non existent retirement fund.

The rest I spend on vodka, shoes and my babies parrots.

FudgefaceMcZ · 20/12/2013 20:16

I'm lying, it all goes on Buckfast.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 20/12/2013 20:17

Not much.

I buy clothes occasionally but don't have much opportunity to go shopping.

Takeaways.

DH buys kindle books.

Wine.
