To ask what you spend your disposable income on?

Hi MN Smile

After taxes, bills, rent/mortgage , food basically everything - with the money that is left over how do you treat yourselves and what do you generally spend it on?

Personally: fresh flowers, 'luxury' bath products /creams and huge gorgeous candles. And a once weekly massage (I have a semi-physical job)

My best friend : monthly mini break (lucky cow), different ethnic restaurants and rare books.

What about you all?

Family days out, meals out with dp, drinks with friends, lunch with friends I guess mostly in going out somewhere.

givemeaclue · 20/12/2013 20:18

Holidays, days out, weekep away

LaFataTurchina · 20/12/2013 20:18

Mainly spent on food/socialising more than 'stuff' - places like nandos or wagamamas with DP or with friends, the occassional starbucks/costa coffee etc.

I like shopping but can't really afford to buy new clothes unless I need them so I make do with buying new vest tops/tights/gloves etc. from primark/H&M.

yourcruisedirector · 20/12/2013 20:19

My hockey team. And occasional meals out or cinema trips out. Actually, to say we are pretty well paid, we have very little disposable income. We over pay the mortgage and we're now in a house that needs a lot of work. We're in an expensive area though!

Beautiful wool to make into clothes for us all.

Boring stuff like plastering walls at the moment Sad. Have a do-up but very skint so it's slowly-slowly.

Stuff on my hobby - keeping hens. Can't resist things like incubators, hatching eggs, henhouses etc. Grin

Stuff for dcs, they become so much more expensive as they get older!

RhondaJean · 20/12/2013 20:33

The kids mostly. I can spend vast amount of money on other people but find it almost impossible to spend on me, unless it's books, wine, candles or Clinique products.

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/12/2013 20:40

Clothes
Shoes
Make up
Coffee shops
Books for my kindle
Glossy magazines
Wine
Hairdresser
Facials and manicures
Eating out

Obviously not all at the same time. I don't have that much disposable income!

BsshBossh · 20/12/2013 20:45

Nice non-essential food like artisan bread or cheese
Books
Clothes (hate clothes shopping so do this a couple times a year only)
Magazines (though over the years family have gifted me subscriptions so not many these days)
Gym membership
Hair cut/colour
Quality wool for knitting
Theatre/cinema (alone and for family)
Eating out
DD's activities/clothes/books/toys
Family holidays/days out

DH spends his disposable income on:
Quality (eg Monmouth) coffee beans
Wine
Cookbooks
Clothes
Toiletries
Going out alone or as family
Holidays
Books
Over-paying mortgage
DD's savings

NearTheWindmill · 20/12/2013 20:57

Beyond the house and DC:

Occasional supper out, Costa with dd most weekends, make-up, perfume, hairdresser, bubble bath.

ENormaSnob · 20/12/2013 21:04

Wine and sweets

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/12/2013 21:09

Nice wine, our cleaner, lovely clothes, face potions, holidays, meals out, books, Christmas!

leftkidney · 20/12/2013 21:09

The odd meal out and takeaway, occasional cheap days out and some years we have a foreign holiday. The vast majority goes into savings to try to pay the mortgage off ASAP.
