Are your children the most beautiful little people you have ever seen?

Do you think your children are the most beautiful things in the world. I mean genuinely?

I have only ever known one person say their child is not cute. I have heard oh he has big ears or a big head etc

Reason I am asking because more than one person I know said before they got pregnant that if their child is ugly they would know, they wouldnt just say they are good looking for the sake of it etc etc.

They have their child and guess what they say the child is beautiful. They KNOW their child is and they would definately say if they wasn't. But the said children are not beautiful...

So question what is it that makes people think their kids are gawjusss even if they are clearly not?

SN: I am ready to be slated but this is a genuine question and relates to people pre pregnancy who slag of children for not being stereotypical cute.

Absolutely yes, to me my children are the most beautiful children I've ever seen. In saying that I don't think I've ever seen a child who wasn't beautiful in some way but obviously my own children have the edge! Wink

Creamycoolerwithcream · 16/12/2013 13:20

My DC are definitely the most gorgeous looking children (also super gifted) but I end to keep these thoughts to myself as everyone else seems to act as if they are normal average kids.

SirChenjin · 16/12/2013 13:20

I remember looking in awe at DS1 in his cot in hospital - I couldn't believe how beautiful he was, and felt real sympathy for the other mums on the ward having such ugly or average looking babies Blush. With DCs 2 and and 3 I was a little less crazy Grin

I think my DCs are good looking children, but they are not stunning, drop dead gorgeous - how many children are? They are fab kids though - very proud of them all Smile

marmaladeandguitars · 16/12/2013 13:22

I think all kids are beautiful.

Mind you, I think most grown people have something beautiful about them as well.

Though (going to put my PFB neck on the line here) I do think my DD is going to be a real, classic beauty when she grows up. I'm average looking, but there are some very good looking people on both sides, and she seems to be getting the best parts of everyone- things that last, like bone structure, and lovely eyes.

Snatchoo · 16/12/2013 13:22

I am constantly stunned at how beautiful my boys are. They really are so good looking Xmas Grin

When they were newborns, they were obviously beautiful but objectively I can now say they were a bit like very angry old men Xmas Grin

Tapiocapearl · 16/12/2013 13:24

I always remember my friend and I putting our babies next to each other on a matt 12 years ago. Her baby was massive (top percentile) with chubby features, totally bald, very pale skinned, strawberry blond eye lashes and blue eyes. Mine was very hairy headed, tiny thing with dark olive skin (greek), a button nose and dark slate coloured eyes. Even to this day she swears mine was ugly and hers was perfection. Obviously she was totally wrong as my DS was stunning and hers was a Winston Churchill lookalike.

Dollslikeyouandme · 16/12/2013 13:26

It really makes me laugh when people say that they know their kids are good looking, because other people have told them.

I always tell people their kids are gorgeous when they bore me with their photos, because its polite.

Really though, who cares? Ds probably isn't the most classically good looking boy there is, to me he's the most beautiful boy in the world and an absolute star. Because I'm his mum.

Most small children are cute, but really so long as they're healthy who the hell cares?

libertychick · 16/12/2013 13:26

My DD is gorgeous - I know this because I took her to her playgroup Christmas party today and she was the best looking child there - fact.

I feel terribly sorry for others who have less beautiful children Xmas Grin. It's probably for the best that they don't realise.

Creamycoolerwithcream · 16/12/2013 13:26

I remember doing the photo thing when my DC and their cousins were all babies. I thought the others all looked really pale and plain and mine were just so gawj.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 16/12/2013 13:28

Mine aren't.
Ds2 in particular is really quite plain when he stops smiling, but luckily he is always smiling and laughing and being lovely so it doesn't matter Smile

DownstairsMixUp · 16/12/2013 13:29

I've seen peoples kids who I think are equally as cute/beautiful as my DS but naturally my DS is stunning. Grin He does have massive blue eyes and a cute button nose, he is like a little angel to me. Don't know where he gets his looks from either as his dad wasn't good looking and I'm bordering average!

Cityofgold · 16/12/2013 13:42

My DD is genuinely pretty, but then so was I as a wee one and as my mother always told me, pretty baby ugly adult...(thanks Mum). So I don't really pay heed to her looks, she is going to change. What have observed is that she is seemingly not that bright. Still time to catch up I suppose but I'd rather have a bright child than a gawjuss one. But you love them anyway.

Bumblequeen · 16/12/2013 13:47

My dd was a cute baby. I could see it and so could others.

As a child she is cuter on some days more than others, depending on how well she is turned out -clothing, hairstyle.

I see plenty of children who are cute/pretty/handsome. I find it strange that some people only see their dc as cute/pretty/handsome.

polythenespam · 16/12/2013 13:48

I don't go round telling people that DD is beautiful, but I do genuinely think that she is an extremely pretty little girl. Yes, I think she is prettier than all the other toddler girls I know.

Nobody has ever said to the contrary, but then they wouldn't have. I have wondered before whether DD is really as lovely as I think her to be...obviously it's nature's way for us to find our offspring appealing and want to protect & nurture them

hooochycoo · 16/12/2013 13:50

My dd looked like Mo Mowlam as a baby. She totally did.DS was a bonny baby, but DD was not. She's a cute wee girl though.

redexpat · 16/12/2013 13:54

When DS first came out I thought I'd given birth to Voldemort. He IS the most beautiful boy - there are some others in the village who are also pretty cute, I'm not blind to their cuteness, but he's def near the top of the league.

I remember being very cross because no matter how many pictures I toook of him when he was really little, they never did him justice. He was always cuter in real life.

Neitheronethingortheother · 16/12/2013 13:54

When I look at dd I honestly think she is the most beautiful creation in the world. I am a bit more objective when looking at my ds's. However, the amount of people who have come up to tell me that dd is the image of me is about 100. I dont consider myself beautiful or even pretty so something somewhere is skewed.

bibliomania · 16/12/2013 13:55

I remember looking in awe at DS1 in his cot in hospital - I couldn't believe how beautiful he was, and felt real sympathy for the other mums on the ward having such ugly or average looking babies

Ha, I did this too. I thought dd was an amazing beautiful baby, but subsequent re-visiting of her baby photos reveals a Neandethal brow and a nose that needed to be grown into.

I still think she is unusually beautiful, although in certain lights she has a bit of a moustache thing going on.

Pandsbear · 16/12/2013 13:57

I was amazed at my DTDs when they were born - they were the strangest looking babies - one looked like an elf, the other like Queen Victoria. I was not amused - where were the cute delightful babies I was expecting??

So no I did not have the cutest babies in the world. Nor did I think so even at the time. They are bloody lovely now though Grin.

I agree that all young(ish) children are super cute actually -all the Reception kids still have all their lovely baby features before they start growing into their own faces/gangly legs/sticky out ears/noses etc.

Whistleblower0 · 16/12/2013 13:58

Oh dear, some vom posts on here Blush

bluecheeseforbreakfast · 16/12/2013 13:58

My ds isn't the most beautiful child I have ever seen ( I don't think he is ugly, he's adorable just not more beautiful that the other babies/children we know)

He is the funniest, cleverest most advanced 1 year old we know, these traits are more important to me.

Fleta · 16/12/2013 14:00

I remain astonished to this day how I produced such a beautiful little girl. OH is a looker of course, and DD looks like me but a better version of me Grin

WhereIsMyHat · 16/12/2013 14:03

I think mine are lovely, they're very wholesome (chubby little faces) looking.

I can appreciate other peoples cute kids, there was one particular family of three boys at my eldest's swimming lessons. The mother was beautiful as we're her three boys, I never got a look at the dad though?

I went and looked back on Facebook pictures upon reading his thread and had loads of 'ohmygod, look how cute he is' moments!

WhereIsMyHat · 16/12/2013 14:06

Forgot to say, I didn't think any of mine were cute until, they lost the newborn squashed, strange look.

GooseyLoosey · 16/12/2013 14:09

No - the dcs are OK looking, but for some reason I think ds looks podgy and dd looks like a ferret. However, I have had total strangers come up to me and comment on how beautiful dd is - I just don't see it.
