Everyone seems so young on here these days.

Maybe it's time I shuffled off to Gransnet.

Yes there were: shit smellies, slippers, and 'chocs'.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 09/12/2013 23:24

Or a less than complimentary comment by a woman of a certain age about their PFB will have been made by an "old bag."

usualsuspect · 09/12/2013 23:24

I can't be that old then,I don't own a pair of slippers.

OP posts:
thebody · 09/12/2013 23:28

don't you fucking dare go.

I am 49 and love the idea of middle aged net.

come on you can't miss the parent and child spaces threads and not want to post a 'you lot don't know how pampered you are while weeping at the free child places at nursery'

we had playground in our day run by local older ladies and no bloody Ofsted in church halls.

Go Fergie bows, bat wing sleeves, babysham and David Essex.

Notsurehowthathappened · 09/12/2013 23:28

Oooooooooh youv'e made by day!!

Have been silently worrying for months that I must be the oldest person here and yet my DD is only mid thirties and of course I was a child bride.

That doesn't stop me worrying about online dating, diets etc and I love this site. Am just careful not to give advice that should have gone out with the Ark

thebody · 09/12/2013 23:29

play group not ground, see silly old bag fingers!! Grin

reelingaroundthechristmastree · 09/12/2013 23:29

Hey usual , GET OVER IT.

Grannies are the new groovy gels!

I've asked for slippers for Christmas too. Grin

reelingaroundthechristmastree · 09/12/2013 23:30

GroovyGrannies.Net

LineRunner · 09/12/2013 23:30

I just ate a Cadbury's Twirl.

BoJolly · 09/12/2013 23:31

But we have all the wisdom!

How about Yodanet???

thebody · 09/12/2013 23:35

don't worry about advice going out with the ark, funnily enough it comes back round in the drough.

usualsuspect · 09/12/2013 23:36

See I do want to post that stuff.

And all the young 'uns go,'well things have changed since the olden daysGrin

OP posts:
helzapoppin2 · 09/12/2013 23:37

Ok, make way, I'm coming out! DS1 is 30, the menopause is a faint memory, but still hoping the best is yet to come!
Yodanet is an appealing idea!

RustyBear · 09/12/2013 23:38

I'm not actually a gran yet but I actually did join Gransnet- in fact I was one of the first (they had to tempt us with a free book) I do get the emails, but I think I've only posted once (and I haven't read the book either)

SconeRhymesWithGone · 09/12/2013 23:40

I have young grandchildren so I do sometimes read threads about childrearing issues, but I would never try to give advice. When the little ones are with me, I just let them do whatever they want. Works for me.

Nanny0gg · 09/12/2013 23:45

TalcAndTurnips

Nowhere near as good as Rag, Tag and Bobtail...

Nanny0gg · 09/12/2013 23:46

David Essex

usualsuspect · 09/12/2013 23:47

That's my method of looking after my grandkids too, I do stick my oar in- offer my advice though.
DD does that smile and nod thing at me

OP posts:
thebody · 09/12/2013 23:49

Scone bloody love that approach with your grandchildren.

usual yes, you have to force yourself to not post

' it's ok, it really really won't matter a shiny shite if your dd has one sweet at a party or worse some formula milk or 2 minutes of ceebeebies these are your easy days parenting ever'

but we were all there once.

Theonlyoneiknow · 09/12/2013 23:52

Noooo, you were lovely and stuck up for me on a baby names thread when my DS's name was getting such a horrific slating it made me cry.

Stay now (breaks into east 17)

BackforGood · 09/12/2013 23:52

I'd like to join middleagedMN.
Don't have any grandchildren, but I do have a shopping trolley. Does that qualify me ?

LineRunner · 09/12/2013 23:55

Is it a tartan one?

steppemum · 09/12/2013 23:56

I thought I was one of the older, but I am a bright young thing on this thread. (46)
dcs still quite young though - I started late. Just facing secondary stuff now.

I long for the days with no pre-teen issues, it is all so wearing. I want to skip forward past the teens now, and then enjoy them as adults and get some grandkids that I can hand back.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 09/12/2013 23:57

Well, my local ones are my son's. He does the smile and nod thing, too. DIL, well, that's a story for another day. Wink

BackforGood · 10/12/2013 00:01

No, LineRunner, I'm afraid not, just a nice swirly pattern.

I haven't got one yet, but do often think a chain to hang my specs on would be very useful too......
and I love a "nice cup of tea"....
