Nestle? Really?

Just had a look at the brands they own and am really shocked. Rachel's Dairy? San Pellegrino? Body Shop??

But should we not be angry at the shops selling Nestlé too?

If they didn't sell it, we wouldn't buy it.

scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:17

Nestlé products feature in nhs menu and literature as recommended products
Nhs and nestle have an existing association, this us further expansion of it

Workberk · 08/12/2013 19:19

Miaow - so you'd rather be a selfish, pointless twat than a tedious tosser? good to know.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 19:19

You insinuating that you needed to point out the obvious is what was patronising.

It's not uncomfortable to me, I didn't need it pointing out. Disappointing? It is that.

Enjoy your shreddies next time you have them. I hope every time you eat them you'll have a thought for those babies who died and continue to do so.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:21

As expected histrionic put downs,as I munch in an imperialist manner I'll not ponder

Loonytoonie · 08/12/2013 19:22

Wow MiaowTheCat, your contempt for people who care about this issue speaks volumes for the kind of person that you are.

Just Wow.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 19:23

Miaowthecat

It's sad that you find the needless death of thousands of babies amusing.

Oh, sorry, mildly amusing.

Lovely.

scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:23

You clearly dont understand the existing relationship between nhs and nestle
This isn't new malevolent business relationship it's an expansion of existing relationship

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 19:25

It must be refreshing to be able to ignore atrocities like that, I guess you find it easy to turn a blind eye.

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:27

Do you have a cut and paste menu of accusatory put downs
I,like millions,buy nestle

formerbabe · 08/12/2013 19:30

I don't consider myself 'breast feeding gestapo' or an 'internet breast feeding warrior'. I have no strong feelings about breast feeding and was happy to use formula for my children. I am, however, disgusted by what I have read about nestles practices. The two don't go hand in hand. I shall be checking what I buy more closely in future.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 19:32

Clearly I don't understand?

No, I just disagree.

There is always reason to try and oppose something you find morally wrong. Even if the odds stack against you. Even if it seems impossible.

OP posts:
Faverolles · 08/12/2013 19:34

YANBU.

The only thing the Breastfeeding Gestapo comment proves is that sadly there are still people out there ignorant enough to use it.
Clearly inflammatory and best ignored.

I have no idea what the NHS can have had going through their minds, but I suspect it comes down to £££££££.

Nestlé should be held accountable for their vile practices. No small company would get away with a tiny fraction of Nestlé's behaviour, so why should such a large company be allowed to pass unscathed.

midori1999 · 08/12/2013 19:34

Nestlé are disgusting and their association with c4l is ridiculous.

I too boycott Nestlé. Even if it doesn't make a difference, I don't want to give them my money. Sadly, we live in a selfish world where people on the whole don't give a shit about others. So much so that they can be aware of what Nestlé do but not be prepared to make minor changes to their shopping habits in order to avoid them. My gran apparently 'loves' all babies and children and gushes about it. She's aware of why I boycott Nestlé, but won't do so herself because she likes a l'oreal brand hairspray. Yes, babies dying V hairspray... It makes me sad and disappointed in her tbh.

OneUp · 08/12/2013 19:35

I agree with formerbabe. I didn't breastfeed my little girl, so I'm afraid you can't call me an 'internet breast feeding warror' or a 'breast feeding gestapo' but after today, I'm going to have a serious look at everything I'm buying and boycott nestle.

scottishmummy - I don't understand what kind of person can care so little about babies that they use a brand which kills them.

stickysausages · 08/12/2013 19:38

It's shocking, disgusting & honestly unbelievable

candycoatedwaterdrops · 08/12/2013 19:40

It's not that I think Nestle are acceptable, it's that people on here act so morally superior with regards to Nestle, that I wonder if they are 100% ethical in all their decisions.

scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:41

What's alternative?raise personal taxation to pay for project?find another partner,if so who

phantomnamechanger · 08/12/2013 19:45

I think this is shocking TBH, nestle processed foods are marketed at kids and many are high in sugar/salt and being passed off as a healthy breakfast food because they may also be wholegrain or multigrain and have added vitamins! the infant formula thing is another matter, deeply wrong IMO.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 19:48

Why don't you tell us what the alternative is scottishmummy?

How would you go about it differently?

Evening.

Many thanks to those who have been in touch about this thread.

We're aware that this is a sensitive issue, but we'd like to ask you to have a think about our lovely talk guidelines before you hit 'post'. Comment on the post, not the poster.

Cheers.

I didn't start animated wtf thread, onus is on you to lay out your alternative strategy

Queenofthedrivensnow · 08/12/2013 19:53

Yanbu. I was pretty pissed off with the coop selling collaborative products too :-(

scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 19:54

I have no objections to programme so I don't need to propose an alternative
