Excuse the language but, what the fucking fuck?

The boycott is ineffective because people don't chose to follow it
And no Amount of ghoulish language about baby killer changes that

My mum got me started on boycotting nestle when I was a teenager. Most big corporations have some dubious practice, but Nestle are truly dreadful in so many ways.

My DS has chosen to boycott as well - 3rd generation! We are very proud.

If a 7 year old can see what they are doing is not right, I don't know how adults can ignore it.

Armadale

The fact that hundreds if not thousands of women are put through that every year just so some powdered milk can be sold is just incredible to me.
Very well said.

Did you sit about for ages in a postmodern right on way thinking how to describe nestle

No scottish, in fact it came to me in a mere half a moment of thinking what the company stands for.

the govt need clout of a multimillion £ conglomerate

And you think this is a good thing? That they are so huge they are needed and we are 'at their mercy'? ..for want of a better saying.

I use nestle products,I'm aware of their track record

You must be so proud.

I'm not wholly defined by my shopping.eating shreddies is brand preference not source of pride

I can understand someone buying nestle because they can't be bothered not to, but admitting all the same that in an ideal world they wouldn't do that. But to do it shamelessly and without guilt, knowing what the impact of nestle marketing is - and to suggest those who object are bleeding heart students - THAT is beyond me. Though I guess lots of people live their lives not giving a toss about others, or companies like nestle wouldn't do what they do. Or is it rather that those mothers watching their babies die of diarrhoea and dehydration are poor and non-white, so hey they probably don't care anyway. It's capitalism don't you know, you commie bastards Hmm

This thread is littered with ghoulish accusatory language,v much reminiscent of uni politics
And anyone who doesn't boycott is an imperialist fan of baby killing.
sometimes to make programme work you collaborate with nestle et al

You forget lalouche scottishmummy doesn't give a shiny shite about much at all, least of all what anyone thinks.

If you are not aware of how evil nestle are then doing some research. They literally are a baby killing machine.

Im very surprised at all the people questioning the appropriateness of that term. It is not a breast v bottle issue either, it's their business ideology which is the problem. Not the fact they make formula, the way they exploit and deprive countries in the developing world.

scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 18:52

I simply pointing out to you the obvious.boycott has failed.abysmally
Ergo the masses must support baby killing if one applies hyperbole on thread

Or be unaware Scottish?

So excuse some people trying to raise the issue do consumers can make an informed choice.

Lamb i don't think anyone saying that its a good thing that the govt need nestle and their ill to do these things, its just a fact. Big businesses do whatever they want and there is nothing that the dept health or the nhs can do about that in afraid.

I dint think anyone is disputing that Nestlé are 'bad' in alot of ways, but the fact remains that they still produce and sell alot of stuff in the UK and because of that, they need to be a part of such things.

people make what I consider to be shit choices all the time and they probably consider mine equally wrong.

but that's freedom. it is not a perfect system but its just much better than the alternative.

I wholeheartedly support anyone right to agitate and get active, basis of liberal democracy
Inherent in that is also that not all individuals support all campaigns

I try and not buy Nestle ...it is quite easy. I buy own label stuff....
Even my 6 yo knows Nestle are baby murders...
NHS partnering up with them is disgusting...
I once heard a lady (in her 60s?) in the hairdressers talking about her DIL not buying Nestle and not really understanding it...
I think not enough people are aware -and more people would boycott if they knew...I tell as many people as I can
I remember years ago my sister telling me to ask the cashier if an aerosol was CFC free - that not many of them would know what you were talking about and might find out more about it and stop using them
Also always refusing a plastic carrier bag...
(My DM would say this was unfair on the cashier - and I can kind of see her point ....but still...)
We now have CFC free aerosols and reusable carrier bags are common...maybe we need a similar strategy for Nestle...spread the word

SM - you are correct but not boycotts fail www.ethicalconsumer.org/boycotts/successfulboycotts.aspx

I don't minding giving up a company's products to have a chance of changing its behaviour. I would rather try and it not work than not bother. its not a big sacrifice.

Fuck me. 'Breastfeeding Gestapo.' Fuck me.

A woman watching her baby dying because her milk's dried up because this was marketed to her by people who knew that would happen but didn't give a shiny shit because she was black and poor.

Women diluting formula by twice the amount because they can't afford more but it's considered 'middle class' to use formula instead of breast milk.

'Breastfeeding Gestapo.'

Fuck me.

Thanks for this thread, I knew brands like SMA came under fire a while ago and there were other ethical issues with Nestlé but didn't realise the scale, of this and their business reach. I will attempt to boycott all related products from now.

Report

Thank you for reminding me about this.

I will be boycotting their products from now on and telling my teenage DDs to do the same.
