I'm truly shocked and horrified by this! Nestlé are evil and the nhs should not be affiliated with them in any way Angry

I am the least politically turned on person I know, really can't be bothered with any of it...the ONLY thing politically I do is boycott Nestle, as they turn my stomach.

It is not hard, I don't buy a Maybelline mascara, I buy a number 7 one- I don't buy Butchers dog food, I buy Pedigree. Simple, tiny choices...

I lost one baby v late in the pregnancy, and it virtually destroyed me. I can not imagine how unbelievably terrible losing one after birth must be-I wouldn't want any woman to go through that.

The fact that hundreds if not thousands of women are put through that every year just so some powdered milk can be sold is just incredible to me.

It's not 'inflammatory language' - it's a perfectly accurate description of what this company does. But perhaps the babies of developing nations don't count in the eyes of some posters. Sad

I'll admit I used the language in the title I did to get more attention to the thread.

It Is an accurate description of Nestlé however. In the past and in the present, and by the looks of it, the future too.

YANBU. BohemianGirl, your comment displays your ignorance of the issues here.

I knew Nestle were bad but this is dreadful. This link is helpful if you want to avoid them. I'm going to have to change some of my shopping habits...

YANBU, ridiculous of the NHS to partner up with them. Just goes to show that big coporations can get away with anything.

Yes, because that's exactly what I meant when I objected to the inflammatory language Hmm

Nestlé is one of the grim companies in the world, utterly vile, anyone having anything to do with them should be ashamed and educate themselves.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 16:30

I agree it's totally grim, I just really don't understand why they are using nestle.. who in their right mind thought "That's a good idea" ?

Baffles me.

Eh? Confused

Nestle sell crap food.

I don't totally boycott Nestle as I have too much going on in my life to remember if a product in made my Nestle, or check it out during a shopping trip, but seriously - Chaange 4 Life had time and engergy to consider this partnership.

I'm Shock and have lost all respect for change4life.

Nestle have also been found to be using children on their cocoa farms in Africa.

Astounded that Nestle are continuing to do this (re. the formula milk) after all the years of strong protest and boycotting. The campaign seems to have been disappointingly ineffectual.

The sad truth is though, that the Government NEED the big players at the table to make anything like c4l work, they hold so many of the cards that if the big boys aren't involved, then it just wont.

These partnerships are not just about c4l though, there is a bigger 'responsibility deal' that is going on in the background which encompasses more than health messaging and Nestle and the other baddies such as Tesco etc HAVE to be a part of it to make an impact.

LambinsideaDuckinsideaTrout · 08/12/2013 17:15

They shouldn't be allowed to get so 'big' that they are 'needed' on board in this way.

That's what I was thinking. Obviously the negative publicity isn't damaging them at all.

The negative publicity hasn't the budget to make an impact against the massive budget of their brainwashing advertising. Too much control of too sizeable a portion of the market.

Did you sit about for ages in a postmodern right on way thinking how to describe nestle
We live 1st world capitalist economy, the govt need clout of a multimillion £ conglomerate
I use nestle products,I'm aware of their track record

ScottishMummy: the point is that collectively those who care, can make a difference with no adverse affect to ourselves.

You obviously don't care.

shouldnt be allowed to get so big?who'll enforce this antifree trade-the state?
Thankfully State control of business and it's legitimate expansion is not on govt agenda
I chose to exercise my preferences as consumer,as do you.the govt/nhs need this partnership

Report
scottishmummy · 08/12/2013 18:24

Obviously don't care.oh spare me the student union sentiments.its lame
I'm an informed consumer,I buy what I want, and others can chose to boycott
The bigger picture is by associating with nestle the programme happens

Report
paxtecum · 08/12/2013 18:30

Well, there you go.
The boycott is ineffective not only because some consumers don't know about it, but more importantly some people just don't care about babies dying needlessly in the third world, so some rich people can become richer.
