God, am I the only one?

Mine's OK. She's fairly harmless. I've had a couple of barbed comments in the past, but in fact we rub along quite nicely.

LynetteScavo · 04/12/2013 18:27

Mine is OK. So is FIL's wife.

I just wish they wanted to see the DC more often than Christmas and birthdays, oh and Easter.

MIL lives 2 miles away.

AdoraBell · 04/12/2013 18:29

NU at all, if you Get on Well together that's great.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/12/2013 18:29

No, I like mine too.

But if you don't like them you post on here about it. Which is why it seems everyone hates theirs.

YeahButWhatIf · 04/12/2013 18:29

There's just so much MIL hate on here. If it wasn't for them you wouldn't have DH. Ah...I see it now...

My first was great and my second ..... Well growing used to each other.

mrstigs · 04/12/2013 18:30

Mines alright too. Looks after my oldest dd all day and older kids after school two days a week for free so i can work. Is friendly and helpful and all that.
Now MY mum otoh, is a vicious cold hearted bitch... but my MIL is just fine. Smile

msrisotto · 04/12/2013 18:30

Mine's lovely :)

Four4me · 04/12/2013 18:30

Mine is awful, she collects dd and ds3 from here takes them to swimming lessons, washes their kit, feeds them, brings them home every week. Babysits when we ask, no emotional blackmail involved. Is looking after all four dc while we go to a weekend wedding in a lovely hotel!
Wink Do you think I should get dh to tell her to sort herself out!!

MardyBra · 04/12/2013 18:31

She is as nutty as a box of frogs though.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 04/12/2013 18:34

My mil is awesome she looks after the kids, is really thoughtful and got me a radley bag for Christmas.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/12/2013 18:36

I love my MIL.

The other day she said to me 'I couldn't ask for a nicer DIL, you're a lovely girl' and gave me a big hug.

It is strange that these hated women produce the man you want to spend your life with! If her genes missed out a generation they are quite likely to turn up in your children, you seem to be taking a huge risk! I look like my father's mother and I am like her in character, so it is just as well my mother liked her.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 04/12/2013 18:37

I still love my exMIL, and exFIL, like them more than i like the ex.

LookingThroughTheFog · 04/12/2013 18:39

I love mine!

RosesOnTheWane · 04/12/2013 18:40

Mine is marvellous. I love her too.

greenfolder · 04/12/2013 18:41

I count my blessings twice when I think of my dmil. She was lovely-adored me and the dc. She ascribed equal pride to one of her dc getting a phd to a grandchild getting her 5m swimming badge. Both pil were eccentric but in a largely endearing way. And they liked my parents. Tbh though I didn't appreciate them til I found out how dreadful other mils can be on mumsnet

VikingLady · 04/12/2013 18:46

Who is going to start a thread about someone they have no issues with? (Apart from this thread!)

So you won't get an accurate reflection of how most people feel on any forum. Likewise Behaviour is full of people having problems with their kids' behaviour, rather than threads talking about how average they are.

VikingLady · 04/12/2013 18:47

Oh, and my MIL is a grade A bitch. EA. but DH likes his MIL!

Lj8893 · 04/12/2013 18:51

I get on great with mine (well I'm not married yet but as good as) in fact I was friends with her before I got together with her son!

WaitingForMe · 04/12/2013 18:51

I'd like to like my MIL. The fact I supported DH through therapy to deal with her treatment of him makes it somewhat challenging.

Given I have three boys I'm taking lessons from DM who is adored by SIL.

rabbitlady · 04/12/2013 18:51

erm... my son in law likes me, I think. he overheard me telling his wife to be nice to him ...

trikken · 04/12/2013 18:54

I like mine. Shes lovely.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/12/2013 18:56

I love my MIL - she is a truly lovely person - witty, intelligent and kind, and she has taken my side when she's felt dh needed a bollocking.

She had very major surgery for cancer, nearly 2 years ago, but it has spread to her lungs, and chemo hasn't done more than halt its growth. Just thinking about it is breaking my heart.

perfectstorm · 04/12/2013 19:04

It's lovely to read these. I hope I'm a good MIL when the time comes.
