to think it is totally reasonable for cat owners not to pick up poo

I mean how can they?

I have 2 cats and now 1 puppy. I watch my puppy when she is out and know where she is, I can see if she is pooing. If she disappears under a bush I check (with my sense of smell) and pick up if necessary. I carry poo bags everywhere.

However, my cats come and go as they please. When they were kittens I had a litter tray that they used, but as they started to go outside with a cat flap, they stopped using the litter tray.

My (ex) neighbour asked me to come and pick up after my cats, but as there are lots and lots of cats in the area, there was no knowing that it was my cats.

I am not a bad pet owner. But I think it is unreasonable to expect cat owners to have the same poo pick up responsibility as dog owners.

Yes. Of course I mean your cat. Hmm

Justforlaughs · 04/12/2013 11:05

Hester what are you doing on this thread? You need to be either
a) a disgruntled non-cat owner who has to clear up skip loads of cat shit every morning
b) an irresponsible, uncaring cat owner
to be eligible to post! Wink

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 11:05

Well that's what you said

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 11:06

Justforlaughs, I really don't know. I have been asking myself the same question. But thanks for bringing me back to reality.

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:08

laughing at this thread now. evil cats poo taking over the world, blinding children, killing birds. ruining nice suburban gardens!!!

as a previous poster said 'get out more'

oh yes and I stand by my previous comment, to teach children to abuse/chase/hit animals is child abuse. its teaching them to be cruel.

Songbirds include blackbirds, sparrows, starlings, blue tits, wrens, linnets, goldfinches. All of which I have seen killed by cats, particularly in the spring as nestlings. Not all cats are big hunters. Some are.

I am more bothered by the hunting than the poo.

Justforlaughs · 04/12/2013 11:08

gamerchick cats tend to avoid places were other cats live, so if you don;t have a cat they will target you. I have also been told - no idea whether it's true or not - that cats don't like eye contact so they will be attracted to someone who ignores them, whereas a dog will ignore someone who ignores them.

fucking hell,

just seen a cat lying in a mother and child parking space!!!

bastard!

Binkyridesagain · 04/12/2013 11:11

The Body was it displaying a blue badge?

Justforlaughs · 04/12/2013 11:11

Genuine question, if a dog needs to learn not to chase cats out of their garden, why should cats not be taught to leave birds alone. Both are instinct, but whereas there is a purpose to a dog defending his territory, killing birds for fun is just evil.

D0oinMeCleanin · 04/12/2013 11:14

TheBody, I bet it was waiting for the cash machine so it could take it's benefits out Grin

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:17

definatly she was up the duff and possibly an asylum seeker!

no blue badge either!!!

no dought ready to bottle feed the kittens and give them junk food, ordinary sparrows and not song birds!!

and they will all purposely shit on a flower bed or in the sandpit and blame the foxes.

seen her type before. brazen.

HesterShaw · 04/12/2013 11:19

killing birds for fun is just evil.

No it isn't because animals are not "evil". They are just animals, which act on instict. You might find their behaviour distasteful, but they are not criminal masterminds intent on decimating the wildlife population of the British Isles, strangely.

AutumnStarOfWonder · 04/12/2013 11:21

This is Broken Britain, thebody.

Binkyridesagain · 04/12/2013 11:21

My cat doesn't kill them for fun, he eats them.

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:21

justForLaughs yes I hear they are trying that in London zoo with the tigers.

experiment going well and tigers now on a vegetarian diet and cuddling up to the zebras.

it's heartwarming.

definatly going to try it with my cat.

Justforlaughs · 04/12/2013 11:22

So whats's so wrong with a dog chasing a cat - or even eating it?

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:23

Autumn I know. we need to get tough on crime and tough in the causes of crime.

sure heard that from someone once.

I blame the EU. bloody boarder controls are crap.

Justforlaughs · 04/12/2013 11:24

Even a lion, that has just eaten, will have no interest in "prey"

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:24

because dogs are bloody daft and cats are faster and can climb!!!

Sparklingbrook · 04/12/2013 11:27

I don't get the lion poo thing. Why would people want to put more poo into the garden to prevent other types of poo? Confused lion poo-ok, cat poo-not ok. Right.

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:28

let's have suburban lions then! excellent idea. they won't blind children with their poo or obviously eat them as long as regularly fed. brilliant solution.

so cats out and lions in.

AutumnStarOfWonder · 04/12/2013 11:29

Because cat poo is radioactive, Sparkling and we will ALL DIE. Have you learnt nothing in the endless three days this thread has been going on?

thebody · 04/12/2013 11:30

Sparkling is there some sort of diagnosis for one who is poo obsessed?
