Selling some things on fleabay so far for a pair of shoes I've had the following questions.

Will these fit me?

I know it says UK only postage but will you post to me in Canada and if so can you amend your listing accordingly.

What size is a 39

How much do they sparkle in low light

Confused WTF is wrong with people???

How low is your light? A torch, held at arm's length? Moonlight? The soft glow of romantic candlelight? A cinema during the showing?

Yes. You may need to trim your toes to achieve this, but it can definitely be done.

If you can move Canada far enough East that it is actually touching Cornwall, the Royal Mail post man will be able to deliver there. Otherwise, fuck off.

More than a black cat (as long as its eyes are closed) but less than a disco ball.

Ha, yes! This dress is a size 16, if you are a size 16 it will fit you but still I always get "Armpit to armpit measurements please?". Always get the cheeky twats asking to buy it now for some ridiculously low price. Even had people win an item and ask for another I was selling chucking in for an extra couple of quid when it was well worth at least five times that and they knew it.

The postage question is reasonable. I sometimes ask sellers other countries if they will consider posting their item to the UK. I don't mind if they say no but think it's worth asking. If they've put in the text on the listing that they will only post to their own country, fine, I don't ask, but often people just don't want to mess around putting all the different postage rates on but will consider it if they know have someone interested.

I'd ignore the rest.

I hate the 'please can you measure it in 97 different places please'. No I cannot, I packaged it when I listed it. And, I don't have that much time. I've listed the size, look up the brand's sizing if you're that bothered.

'How far up my legs will these boots come' - how the hell am I supposed to know how long your legs are?

'I know you say you don't do collection but can I collect them?' - erm no, I don't do collections (not because I'm trying to rip you off with postage, I just don't want you knowing where I live).

'I know you say you only post to the UK but please post it to America' - no, if you read my listing, you would see I only ship to the UK because I don't live near a post office and instead live near a UK only courier.

'What's your buy it now?' - I don't have one, if I did I would have listed one in the first place

It isn't just the questions, its parcels going missing too even though I've sent them tracked. The first missing parcel I had I just let go as I hadn't sent it tracked when I said I would (long story, and I'm fairly convinced it wasn't lost). The stories people tell me until I helpfully inform them that I have the signature of the person who signed for them so they can track their parcel down, only for them to say the next day 'oh Doris up the road took it in, silly me' - funny that as it wasn't Doris who signed for it...

Sorry about the rant, I got carried away. I really must stop using ebay!

I sold an XBOX a while ago. One of the special edition red and black (Gears Of War?) ones. We acquired it through DP's job but didn't need it.

Was retailing for about £270. I stuck it on ebay for £200 Buy It Now and local pick up. Thought it would be easier and it would be about £20 to post anyway.

I had numerous messages saying;

"I'll give you £170 and collect it now."

"Will you take £160?"

"What's the lowest you'll take?"

Hmm

Er, £200? Was a bargain at that price and would be against ebay rules to sell it under. Also, once you've clicked 'Buy It Now' I can't amend it anyway.

Ended up putting it up to £240 inclusive of the postage. Went within the hour.

I also sold some naice Dr. Marten shoes. I put ship to UK only because I really couldn't be arsed fecking around with furrin postges - too complicated for my little brain.

Someone sent a message asking if I'd post to Germany. I go to all of the trouble finding out the postage etc (which was actually quite reasonable - maybe £20).

I messaged back telling her this and got the following response:

"Can I ask again, please? Usually when I buy stuff from the UK it's cheaper than that."

Hmm

Expensive shoes? Sent recorded? And bear in mind how heavy Dr. Martens are?

I messaged back explaining that the shoes were heavy and postage had gone up but to be honest this had already become more hassle than I wanted and was sticking to UK only postage.

I don't sell much on ebay now!

Teacher they can get your address anyway once they have bought from you. Happened to me as a buyer, I encountered a psycho seller , and he could get our address and vice versa

Yup, I've had the 'Will you do a buy it now price of £50', but this was from the guy who went on to pay £400 for the item! (A sofa) Just daft, don't know why he bothered (esp as I out in the listing that the auction would run its course and I would not sell on Buy It Now.

Also had a bloke email me asking if I minded him bidding on my ladies sz 10 skirt suit, as it was for him and he didn't want to offend... Confused Hmm

I very rarely sell on eBay, only a couple of items a year, but always get the stupid questions. I just reply very very briefly, usually stating the part of the original listing that says the same thing...

Whose 16? Brands vary so much that it's a fairly reasonable question.
And I regularly politely ask sellers if they'll post to me in France. The vast majority say yes.

hyen the reason people ask for armpit to armpit measurements is because not all clothes are standard size 16. The easiest way is to go e measurements.
And if its a dress, some ladies are size 16 on the bottom but 14 on the top. I don't think measurement questions are unreasonable at all.
