Selling some things on fleabay so far for a pair of shoes I've had the following questions.

Will these fit me?

I know it says UK only postage but will you post to me in Canada and if so can you amend your listing accordingly.

What size is a 39

How much do they sparkle in low light

Confused WTF is wrong with people???

"How much do they sparkle in low light".

That's so funny I burst out laughing. What a bonehead.

WholeNutt · 30/11/2013 20:07

I couldn't help but answer,

Thank you for your question, as described they are bronze glitter, they sparkle quite a lot but less than a diamond. If you shine a torch on the while you're dancing it's a fabulous effect.

In low light they glisten quite beautifully. I know this as I dimmed the lights last night, popped them on and had vigorous sex with my husband on the dining room table while said shoes were wrapped around his neck.

Hope this helps!

Disclaimer..I did not have sex with said shoes on, I was in my onsie with a cuppa I am so freaking sexy

Haven't sold onther effort years due to thieving buyers.

I hate the 'please can you measure it in 97 different places please'

But from a buyer's point of view (and I buy a lot on eBay because I'm restocking my wardorbe) I really do wish sellers would put basic info in their adverts such as inside leg measurement of trousers (I have long legs so need to know) and shoulder to hem measurement of tunic tops and dresses (so I know whether they will be the right length for the purpose I want them for - if tunics are too long they are crap with leggings, and if dresses are too short I won't wear them. If they are inbetween lengths they are "wrong" for both purposes). I've made too many bad buys by assuming things from ads that weren't mentioned and I now want certain info. I've missed out on a few items recently because when I've asked the sellers how long a dress or top is they have ignored my question. Their item has then sold for less that it could've because I've not bid...and when I want something I will bid high to get it so they are a bit daft to ignore me for the sake of basic info IMO. I really gets on my tits Angry
All I want are clear photos (front, back and close up of detail), what the material is, and certain measurements, but so many sellers just don't bother. Such a shame.

Reading some of these it is now clear why I have received such glowing feedback for just paying the amount I bid and not making any fuss Confused

MillyRules · 30/11/2013 20:43

Livid totally agree with this.

There are hilarious,

I also sold a top last month to a lady down south, After a week and a few emails off me she still hadnt paid so i explained i was going away for a few days and if she paid during that time i would post immediately on my return. She did so i printed out the label through ebay, 5 minutes later she opened a dispute saying she hadnt recieved it. This went on for another week and i got suspicious of her so checked out her feedback she had left others, all negative, she seemed very high maintenance.

So I googled her name and address, Her name came up as something to do with the local council, then i found a road near to her home, and dropped her another email saying how sorry i was the parcel i had sent hadnt been recieved, luckily though i have a friend who lives near to you in (insert road), she had told me that if youve still not recieved it by few days time she would gladly go to the sorting office and drop it off for you to save you the hassle.

Very next morning case was closed. I know it was cheeky but she was just 1 of those people who would have left negative feedback over anything she could have found. She still hasnt left anything 3 weeks on. Smile

This dress is a size 16, if you are a size 16 it will fit you but still I always get "Armpit to armpit measurements please?"

[rant]Maybe that's because clothing sizes vary so much. I would say I'm a standard size 10, yet recently I've wasted money buying 2 size 10 dresses; one was so tight I could bearly get the zip up and the other (a stretchy bodycon style) was really baggy and looked crap. So please cut the buyers some slack and understand that in the absence of being able to try something on before buying we are commiting to buying in faith with no returns. We need to know we are minimising the risks of wasting our money. [/rant]

FWIW I've sold a few things on eBay and I make a point of adding as much detail as possible in the adverts - measurements, clear photos of all sides, etc, and I've never had the "stupid questions". Maybe because I've understood that the buyers can't pick the items up, look all round them, hold them up against themsleves then try them on. You know, like they bloody well would do in a shop! I'm gob smacked by the crap ads on eBay; blurred photos, photos taken in shadow, no info. I bet these are the sorts of sellers who can't understand why I'm asking such "stupid questions" LOL.

Knee length depends upon your height
Exactly Millie. I asked the measurement of a dress recently and the buyer said it came just above the knee! LOL. I politely pointed out that it depends on the height of the person as to how far their knees are from their shouldersHmm

optimusic · 30/11/2013 20:48

I loves ebay sometimes, purely for the idiotic questions asked.

Selling clothes, I always put the measurements on. Guaranteed some idiot will come along and ask, will this fit me? Sorry, I don't know what size you are.

Had another person asking my if I knew if Alice would like the item. (Made up name) I don't know the person sorry.

Can you reduce the postage, it's a bit steep? Sorry, that's what RM charges me to send recorded.. Person comes back with well there's your problem don't send recorded.

I know you are selling this DVD but do you have xx instead? If you have xx I will bid, but not really that keen on the DVD you have listed.

Or similar to the dvd one. Do you have the clothing item in a different colour, because that colour doesn't really suit me, but such and such colour does..

Plus of course the usual of can I post to outside UK, or demanding to come and collect, or offering silly money for a bin.

theimposter · 02/12/2013 00:31

I had some guy open a dispute as hadn't received his parcel. Luckily I sent by courier on work account and it turned out it had been refused/attempted 3 times as he lived in some weird block of flats where couriers couldn't get in to and he hadn't picked up the attempted delivery cards. Luckily got it sorted but why not get it delivered somewhere like work if you are not able to get deliveries at home?! Or email first before opening a dispute?!

GhostsInSnow · 02/12/2013 09:16

More likely because sellers can only leave positive feedback for buyers.

When I get daft questions I instantly add the asker to my blocked bidder list. Harsh? Possibly, but if they cant do something as simple as read the listing properly I don't have high hopes for them actually managing to complete the transaction.

LoonvanBoon · 02/12/2013 12:23

I also agree with Livid about including measurements etc. When I sell I always do this, & I do message sellers to get basic info. when it's not included in the listing. Good job, too, when you find out that a size 14 cashmere jumper apparently has a 32" chest measurement! I presume it shrunk in the wash.
