Going off cheese - now that is weird Grin

RaspberryRuffle · 26/11/2013 21:24

The unreasonable people who say this 'I'm not a dessert person' and then EAT MY DESSERT should be shot very wary. The same goes for waiters who bring out a spoon for each person when only I have ordered a dessert. I don't help myself to their food (unless DH) so why oh why do they even think they are getting my dessert?

My DH however often says this 'I'm not a dessert person', if it's a set menu I happily volunteer to eat his dessert. I have occasionally skipped the starter and asked for a main and 2 desserts on a set menu, but normally happy to have each course. If I'm not too hungry, dessert always wins.

QuintessentialShadows · 26/11/2013 21:27

I am not a crisps person.

Mim78 · 26/11/2013 21:27

Hmm I'm not much of a pudding person myself. But I can understand annoyance with people saying it as though it is an achievement or makes them somehow clever.

But if pushed as to why you've said no thanks to pudding, I suppose it's a reasonable thing to say.

I think pudding is the correct word though Grin

Bogeyface · 26/11/2013 21:28

But those of us who dont like puddings are always at a disadvantage!

Whenever our crowd eat out we have 2 courses, they all want main and pudding and I want starter and main. I dont want to sit there with my starter on my own, so I do without. Then I dont get pudding as I dont like sweet things, so I invariably end up drinking pudding instead!

I am not a pudding person, I am a savoury person!

AtYourCervix · 26/11/2013 21:28

I'm not an offal person.

going off cheese is very weird. it is my favourite condiment. and I just don't fancy it any more Sad. Not even in a fish finger sandwich.

Grin LOL HaHa Wine

Talkinpeace · 26/11/2013 21:34

thing is I do not eat chocolate because it does not like me ....
and lots and lots of desserts / puddings / afters / sweet have chocolate in them
so I learned to be wary
and cheese / coffee / more wine fill the gap !

EmmaFreudsGivingMeJip · 26/11/2013 21:35

I am the definition of a dessert person. I see the main course as a formality to get through politely before getting to dessert.

And if it hasn't got chocolate or ice cream with it, it ain't dessert. Don't get me started on 'cheese' on the 'dessert' menu. Bullshit.

LoveAndDeath · 26/11/2013 21:37

Oh God, I am not a dessert person. And like you AYC, my friend thinks this makes me weird and strange.

It's not a skinny-girl thing.
a/ I am not skinny
b/ the sort of starters I like are things like deep-fried Brie, grilled goat's cheese etc. I love sour cream, regular cream, butter and cheese.

It's not even that I don't like sweet things. I love sweet things. But I just can't face into something sweet after a starter and a main. If there's a set menu, I do have a dessert but it's usually because I'm with people who judge me!

trixymalixy · 26/11/2013 21:38

I have been known to have starter, main course , starter if there's no cheese option. I'd much rather have savoury than sweet.

mrsminiverscharlady · 26/11/2013 21:39

I'm not a main course person. I'd rather just eat lots of starters to be honest - tapas is my favourite kind of meal.

The word 'pud' makes me feel murderous.

Bogeyface · 26/11/2013 21:40

Talking of "sweet" reminds me of holidays as a child. The hotel thought itself to be vair posh and the landlady would trot out after you finished your (no choice, no menu) dinner and trill "Would laik to see the sweet trolleah now?" amd would proudly trundle up with a load of dried up gateaux and some rancid looking fruit salad! My sister always had ice cream, which caused muttering as she had to go back to the kitchen for it!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/11/2013 21:41

I'm not a dessert/pudding person in the sense that I virtually never have one at home and only have one occasionally when I eat out, usually if it's included for example at a Christmas do.

That doesn't mean I don't like sweet things, I do like some of them but I just don't feel the urge to eat them very often and would rather use the calories for starters and savoury snacks. There are a lot of puddings that I don't like at all (anything containing alcohol or ginger for example).

So yes, YABU.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/11/2013 21:42

christ, do I know you?

i say this all the time Grin

def prefer starter then pudding so if a choice of 2 courses i will always refuse pudding and have starter

if a 3 course meal, obv i will make myself eat pudding

savoury rather then sweet

crisps rather then cock :)

Bogeyface · 26/11/2013 21:42

Cheese is not a condiment, and who the buggery fuck has a fish finger and cheese sandwich?!

Sausage and grated cheese sandwich however is the food of the gods!

intitgrand · 26/11/2013 21:42

A dessert is fruit based

is it? I don't think so

catellington · 26/11/2013 21:43

talkinpeace wanna share a box of chocolates? Wink

wigglesrock · 26/11/2013 21:44

I don't eat desserts Smile , I'd rather have 2 starters & a main. I'm not really a cake eater. I like actual sweets but I'd rather have savoury foods, then a Curly Wurly. I dislike icecream & cream - we wouldn't have desserts in the house - much to my husband's chagrin - he'd eat cake all day long.

AtYourCervix · 26/11/2013 21:47

cheese is a condiment when you add it to everytiing. like burger sauce.

a fishfinger and cheese sandwich is a taste sensation.

catellington · 26/11/2013 21:47

I hate the dessert moment I mean when you go to give your order...everyone has been mulling over the menu saying I might have his I might have that... Then when it comes down to it I ask for one and everyone else backs out at the last minute!! What is that??

Then everyone eats mine Angry

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 26/11/2013 21:48

:( Well I don't have much of a sweet tooth AND I have a weird allergy that I'm sure people think I made up.

And my allergy is fucking cheese so I can't even have the cheese board!

Sometimes I like dessert but if it's a choice between that and a starter I'd usually prefer the starter.

ForalltheSaints · 26/11/2013 21:48

I like puddings, or desserts. I like roast beef. Some people don't. Get over it.
