Just seen the advert for her Christmas album. 'Oh come let us adore him' indeed. Rarrrr.

(feeling irritated.....)

I think that Susan Boyle single handedly did a whole lot for the attitude of people towards anyone "different".

The reaction of Simon Cowell et al when she walked on stage, older, overweight, moustache, that dress.....they laughed, rolled their eyes and thought "here we go, another nutter" spoke volumes.

Then their faces when she sang was a symphony in "Oh Shit".

She should keep doing what she is doing just to show the world that you can have learning issues and still be a huge success.

I should add that actually, I dont like her music, I have never been a fan of that style which is why I dont like Jane MacDonald either. But I bloody admire what she has done with her own life through her determination.

Having no talent isn't exactly unusual in the pop music world

Or being a cause of irritation. Harlem shake

What's up with One Direction, anyway?

Shakey1500 · 29/11/2013 21:31

I don't care for her voice that much. It's not unpleasant but equally, it's nothing special. I do think that she's a lovely, genuine person though. She got the "break" she deserved, earned a fortune and an army of fans along the way.

If people are still willing to buy her records then all power to her elbow. if her star is fading however, perhaps she should end on a high and spend her millions Grin

What's up with them?

Well their songs are crap & they make Take That sound like the Three Tenors.

Aside from that though, Harry Styles. This may be a sign of impending gimmer hood (although I am in his target shagging demographic apparently Hmm), but I am sick of seeing him in the papers, with his funny hair, funnier hat and tattoos that look like he's been attacked with a biro. This is particularly because he's been presented as some kind of 'ladies man'. Colin Farrell looks like a ladies man ought to look Blush. Harry Styles looks like a GCSE student in a Maggie Thatcher wig and a fuck ton of make up. Also, Harry Styles as a ladies man, frankly, makes me feel old and slightly nauseous.

It is just Harry Styles. I can fully appreciate how gorgeous Taylor Lautner is at 21 while recognising that I am far, far too old to think impure thoughts about him

I'm not a 'fan' but the clip of her BGT audition is really moving to me. The way she puts that song across - with such confidence in her voice - a confidence I expect was hard to come by for Susan in other areas of life. It makes me feel happy for her when by the end she has won everyone round, a standing ovation. You go, Susan!

SatinSandals · 29/11/2013 21:49

Good luck to her. Why would she give up when she makes money?

squoosh · 29/11/2013 22:49

Her music just isn't my thing at all but I too wish her luck. She spent the first 45 years of her life as the butt of people's jokes and is now adored by thousands and has fulfilled her dream.

The most interesting about her story for me is that she experienced instant global fame in a way that nobody before her did. Even for people like Madonna or Michael Jackson their fame was a gradually growing thing, but Susan literally became the most famous person in the world overnight. I can't imagine how brain swiveling that must have been.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/11/2013 23:06

I'm waiting for the cries of bully for the last lot of posters who dislike her music. Apparently that is not allowed
