It's all in the title really. A woman just told me she had parked in one because she had a dog in her car. Aibu to think she is inconsiderate?

What about people who are awaiting a decision for a bluebage but need the extra space, would you begrudge and be infuriated the space even though no child in the car?

It doesn't actually need to be anywhere.

We never had them when I was a kid and I grew up in the US, land of the car since 1922.*

Park out in the back of the car park if you need more room.

*Estimated date I pulled out of my ass.

fluffyraggies · 23/11/2013 16:15

OP, i think the majority of folk do respect the P&C spaces on the whole. But it's not law. Remember there may be other reasons (sometimes temporary) for needing more space, than just getting a baby out of the car.

SilverApples · 23/11/2013 16:16

I'm not, Angels.
I'd be stunned and amazed and baffled if a P&C parking space thread didn't also cover parking spaces for the disabled, it's compulsory on MN, don'tchaknow.?
They must always be mentioned together.

theDudesmummy · 23/11/2013 16:16

I have a disabled child so am able to park in either kind of space. Which would people feel is the most considerate to park in if I have a choice? I suppose the P&C as there will then be an extra space left for a disabled person?

WooWooOwl · 23/11/2013 16:16

DH and I quite enjoyed it the last time another couple tutted loudly to each other about or lack of children when we returned to our car when it was in a P&C space.

It provided us with some mild amusement in an otherwise dull car park.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:18

I suppose if you are going to leave a dog in a car you need it to be near the entrance.

So you could argue that supermarkets should have dedicated "Driver and Pet Spaces"

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:19

Yes, theDude, it might be better to park in the P&C space - but if I were you I would park in whichever space makes it easier for you.

Catnap26 · 23/11/2013 16:20

YANBU.this really annoys me.im sorry but I have 2 dc 17 months and 5 months and I need the extra space to get them in and out of the car safely.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 23/11/2013 16:21

our local sainsbos has the P&T spaces at the back of the car park, with a walkway leading to the store.
funnily, in this situation, most people (with or without kids) decide that they're not so fussed about having an extra wide space after all.

WooWooOwl · 23/11/2013 16:21

Maybe we should also have wider spaces for people who have expensive cars. And spaces for people who have broken legs. And spaces for people who are tall or obese.

They could all be right at the back of the car park along with the parent and child spaces.

NigellaLaw5on · 23/11/2013 16:21

I park in the closest space i can find whether it's a normal space, p&c or disabled.
Most of the "disabled" people round my way are running around in grannys nissan quashqai and have nothing wrong with them anyway.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:21

You don't need it, Catnap. You like having it, but you don't actually need it.

Unlike people with a blue badge who actually need it. There is a very big difference.

TEEARDIS · 23/11/2013 16:22

Then park in the back away from everyone else, Catnap!

Having a child is not a disability or make you special. Most of the human race has children.

When I am Queen of the Universe, any day now, I'm sure, I will abolish all P&C spaces and replace them with disabled spaces.

And every store will have one space marked 'For Tee only. Anyone not Tee will be shot on sight.'

AIBU?

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:22

And Nigella, I'm presuming you are being sarcastic. Because otherwise your post would make you sound like a complete fuckwit.

Tiredmumno1 · 23/11/2013 16:22

Catnap just use the back of the car park, so much easier Smile

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:23
Tiredmumno1 · 23/11/2013 16:23

Novella, please tell me you are joking? Shock

TEEARDIS · 23/11/2013 16:23

See, MaryZ, I'm presuming she's a complete fuckwit.

I find that assumption is usually correct.

Tiredmumno1 · 23/11/2013 16:24

Hmm I meant Nigella

damn autocorrect

TEEARDIS · 23/11/2013 16:24

I'm following you MaryZ.

Is that not okay?

Tiredmumno1 · 23/11/2013 16:25

Are you being a stalker TEE? Grin

Jengnr · 23/11/2013 16:26

YANBU.

It's twatty to park in them when you've not got kids with you.

MaryZygon · 23/11/2013 16:26

Yes, that's fine Tee. Shall we go and cause havoc in aibu? Grin

I'm trying to avoid being deleted being polite to Nigella
