The judgey vastness and superior attitudes of people who think they're so fucking amazing for managing without a P/C space wilds me up - especially when they imply that if you decide to use one if you have children you're obviously an incapable thicko who can't organise parent their children. Nope, Im not any of this things...Im just not a martyr and am nite willing to increase chances of an accident to my child or someone else's vehicle if there's a space free. I really don't understand the hysteria over these spaces: use em if you have need to, but realise their use is not an entitlement and is not covered by law don't if you don't want to and stop bloody judging others who do

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 24/11/2013 14:05

You've said that four times now.

froubylou · 24/11/2013 14:06

I have only ever seen on mn the theory that p & c spaces are anything but a little bit of easier for parents with young dc.

I know they are not a necessity. They are just nice to have. They don't hurt anyone else, there ate only ever a small % of them compared to normal bays and usually about a fifth of amount of disabled bays.

They are there usually nearer the store to help people get young dc safely from car to store. I will also appreciate them being nearer when I am lugging a carseat with a newborn in post c section to the store to get a trolley.

And it makes it easier/possible to get young dc and carseats in and out without damaging other peoples cars.

There are others that benefit from the wider spaces too and they should use them. I'm 36 weeks pg and a van parked so close to my door the other week I had to climb over the passenger side. Wish I had used the wider space now.

But entitled wankers who use them just to be wanky or because they can't park the 4 x 4 in a normal space or because they legally can won't stop doing it because of threads like this.

I just hope they never have need of a little bit more room and there is nothing free because wanky wankers are parked there.

Are pregnant women allowed to use them? I'm really struggling to walk, push trolleys, carry things - will be getting crutches next week as it seems to be SPD Sad - and I mean I definitely have a child under 5 with me...

thepig · 24/11/2013 14:45

Yanbu.

Doesn't matter what anyone thinks of them, the carpark belongs to the supermarket and THEY have allotted the spaces for parents with children.

Presumably none of you park in staff spaces in carparks?

When YOU own your own carpark you can do what you want with it. Until that point jog on.

I'm always happy to teach people a practical lesson if they can't grasp the point of these spaces and walk off into the supermarket tutting. Wink

Anyone can use them, based on need to not have to walk far, or needing to be by the door, or a wider space.

SPD causes temporary mobility problems, so you can also use the Disabled parking bays, if you really need to, as anyone temporarily disabled can (as the use if these are not covered by law, as such, anyway).

OvO · 24/11/2013 14:51

I park in P&C spaces when I have no children with me.

I have a blue badge but sometimes park in the P&C spaces even when there's disabled spaces available.

I do it as a big FUCK YOU to the asshole parents that use the disabled loos (not ones with the baby change unit in them) because they NEED them, and anyway there's never any disabled people waiting and wah wah wah.

I like to pass on the annoyance. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 24/11/2013 14:54

OMG OvO don't mention the accessible loos. Shock

waltermittymissus · 24/11/2013 15:07

OvO that just makes you sound like a twat tbh.

moomin of course you should park in them, I personally think you should park in disabled parking bays in your situation!

Birdsgottafly · 24/11/2013 15:17

Wonders were the C&P toilets are that I could take my dog in with me Hmm.

Sparklingbrook · 24/11/2013 15:19

Parent and Child loos-now there's a thought.......

candycoatedwaterdrops · 24/11/2013 15:25

thepig If you questioned me for using a P&C space, I would seriously consider shoving my crutch up your arse. Grin

My local pharmacy (it's huge) has the P&C places so much closer than the BB ones which I've mentioned to them but they don't own the car park, so can only shrug. I feel no guilt about using them, especially if I'm particularly unwell.

Sirzy · 24/11/2013 15:29

Kiddicare store have parent and child loos - one little and one large toilet in each cubicle!

saintlyjimjams · 24/11/2013 15:31

Our local sainsbury's has p&c loos. Nappy change, mini sinks etc. I like them. keeps parents with toddlers out of the disabled loo meaning my son can actually access it when needed
