NC (not for this) but I'm long-standing MNer (Pom bear, naice ham...)

This might ruin the whole concept of AIBU but sometimes people pop up with opinions that I am shocked by, not because of what they are but just because they are so marginal. (SPs Cliff Richard obsession, for example?)

So, whilst encouraging you all to go forth and spread your weird and wonderful thoughts all over AIBU and elsewhere, what really unpopular opinions do you hold?

I have a couple of corkers, first one is that Kanye West however much of a knob he is actually is a genius.

Rucksack families are annoying, especially if they are also sporting those fugly walking sandals, cropped trousers and pacamacs.
Not everyone who says the got pregnant on the pill is telling the truth.

Grennie · 21/11/2013 12:26

I love wind farms too. I wish I could see one from my house. I don't understand people who campaign against them on the grounds of them being ugly. They are beautiful.

youretoastmildred · 21/11/2013 12:27

Oh sorry I missed a load of stuff and didn't realise the dogs one had been done. Don't mind me.

Also, to the person who hates dining al fresco - YES. fucking unbearable. "Ooooooooooooooo a table outside!" everyone chirps. NO. I do NOT want to eat my lunch effectively in the road, at the tiniest table in the world, while it is still really too cold even with your jacket on, with backache because I am hunching forward and flinching from all the people striding past and kicking me, and the people at the tables either side are holding their cigarettes so far from their own companions, they are now in my armpits. Lit, smoking fags up in my face ruining my food, ash flicking in my face driven by the icy wind, and this is costing 8 times as much as the rest of my lunches put together this week and is supposed to be ENJOYABLE. (Either that or it is the one day in the year that it is really warm enough, but there is no shade and you get a headache and sunstroke) And I won't be able to hear any of you. Oh well who cares as you will be bleating on about the SIN of eating pudding or not anyway. Fuck off.

princessalbert · 21/11/2013 12:28

I think people who leave dog shit in the street, if caught, should have their dogs taken away and be banned from owning animals. In fact the dog shit problem is so bad there I live I think people should have to apply for a licence to own a dog and be fined ££££ and prosecuted if they are caught letting their mutts foul without cleaning it up. Filthy slovenly bastards.

This!!!

Grennie · 21/11/2013 12:28

I hate barbecues. Badly cooked food that takes ages to cook. Luckily my DP agrees with this.

KoalaFace · 21/11/2013 12:28

If schools taught Philip Larkin's "They Fuck You Up" to 16 year olds we'd have much more people who enjoyed poetry.

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.

notso · 21/11/2013 12:28

I don't either Grennie pylons are very ugly and no- one moans about those.

Littlebigcat · 21/11/2013 12:28

The internet is damaging society.

People should be limited to owning 2 houses (I would say one but realise there may be legitimate reasons for needing two) and forced to sell any others.
Pandora bracelets are overpriced and ugly.
Obsession with boy bands over a certain age is a bit strange.

There are many baby names where I think it's cute on a baby but will sound awful on a 20 YO.
I'm strangely afraid of any food trying to be something it's not ie vegan cheese, mock chicken, turkey bacon.
Refusing to eat food at other people's houses (without having mentioned any serious dislikes or allergies) just because you don't like them is incredibly rude.

funnyossity · 21/11/2013 12:29

Most people who follow fashion in the UK look terrible. However I did like the big rollers and full make-up women I saw in Liverpool recently.

princessalbert · 21/11/2013 12:30

I support the new 'no taking holidays in term-time rule'.

If you have kids, then you know what you are letting yourself in for. Years of expensive holidays mid summer - or none until they have grown up and left home.

Grennie · 21/11/2013 12:31

Yes. Pylons are so ugly. They would make much more sense to campaign against.

Anjou · 21/11/2013 12:32

I think contraception should be opt-OUT from the age of 13 and that you should have to obtain a licence (having passed a theoretical and practical exam) to have kids.

Lovely in theory, gross violation of human rights in practice unfortunately.

princessalbert · 21/11/2013 12:32

The thought of dogs or cats sleeping on the beds with humans grosses me out.

And letting your dog lick your lips. Ugh.

No animal lover here, does it show ? Grin

sherbetpips · 21/11/2013 12:32

Shops should be banned from selling that awful burgundy/red hair dye - it looks crap
Hairdressers should be fined if they put blonde streaks in dark brown hair - it looks crap and stripy and they know better
Hate the whole breastfeed or be damned attitude that has prevaled in recent years
Hate people that treat there animals like ickle children, its a dog get over it.

boschy · 21/11/2013 12:34

too many of these opinions are perfectly reasonable!

Grennie · 21/11/2013 12:35

I have plenty of "unreasonable" feminist ones. They are not light hearted though.

Anjou · 21/11/2013 12:35

I agree with banning burgundy hair dye, sherbetpips. Vile, vile, vile.

Daddypigsgusset · 21/11/2013 12:38

It's not that difficult to learn the difference between there, their and they're. Anyone who doesn't bother needs a slap tbh

Grennie · 21/11/2013 12:38

I quite like the idea a few countries have of having an official list of names. Children can only be named from this list.

notso · 21/11/2013 12:38

Eating seafood is like eating beetles and spiders.

Daddypigsgusset · 21/11/2013 12:39

Daddypigsgusset · 21/11/2013 12:39

And I need one for double posting! Haha

princessalbert · 21/11/2013 12:40

I don't believe that University is the be-all and end-all.

Despite DS being likely to get A and A* at A Level - I am not pushing him towards going to Uni straight away. I hope that he will take a couple of years out, to have fun, learn about life in general and explore his options before getting lumbered with a massive debt.

ohtanmybum · 21/11/2013 12:40

Daniel O'Donnell - what's the attraction?
Christmas in November (or at at any time not Christmas) hotel breaks - totally bonkers.

princessalbert · 21/11/2013 12:42

Chocolate bars can not be just eaten from the bar, without a cup of coffee or tea.

It makes me really Confused as to how other people can just take a bite from a Mars bar without a warm drink.

Weird...
