NC (not for this) but I'm long-standing MNer (Pom bear, naice ham...)

This might ruin the whole concept of AIBU but sometimes people pop up with opinions that I am shocked by, not because of what they are but just because they are so marginal. (SPs Cliff Richard obsession, for example?)

So, whilst encouraging you all to go forth and spread your weird and wonderful thoughts all over AIBU and elsewhere, what really unpopular opinions do you hold?

I have a couple of corkers, first one is that Kanye West however much of a knob he is actually is a genius.

Facebook is wank.

Religion is nonsense.

I like that we have a royal family.

Soditall · 21/11/2013 08:37

I can not stand going to the cinema(over priced,to bloody loud, noisy people and disgusting food)I still go sometimes for the sake of my DD and my DH is the only one who knows how much I hate it!

Hate hate hate with a vengeance sodding Pantomimes they bore me to tears but again I go for the DC and DH knows how much I hate it.

That anyone who is anti disabled(barging into my wheelchair and acting like I don't exist, making horrible comments about children with disability's,targeting the disabled)should all be locked up and they should throw away the key.And I thought that before I had two children who are asd and before I became disabled!

That anti social behavior(throwing rubbish on the ground, leaving dog mess on the floor, getting drunk in children's play areas, vandalising, screaming and swearing at children and belting them, all night party's,fireworks going of all night, people taking and smoking drugs in public, fighting ect)should all be dealt with a lot more severely!

Life should mean life, you take someone's life that's it your inside for the rest of yours!

People should start being vetted before they can have children.I know that will be one that loads will disagree with, but I don't care! I've worked with children and had to help pick up the pieces for the kids who were born into families where all the parents did was abuse and neglect them!

There should be serious jail terms for anyone who harms a child and for anyone that rapes someone! If they're ever deemed fit to be released back into society(which I don't agree with)they should be watched for the rest of they're lives.

Animal cruelty should be dealt with far more seriously than it is,they should be put into prison for years not weeks or months, they should get a hefty fine and never be allowed to own or come into contact with animals ever again.

Scientists should no longer be using animals to experiment on it is barbaric and not necessary. They can grow limbs, skin and even flesh now so leave the poor innocent creatures alone.

I think posters that bang on about spreadsheets and shitlists, or worse, bingo and goats, have a very misplaced sense of self importance and I'm highly likely to judge them as being thick and/or self serving.

this

We go on term time holidays.

carovioletfizz · 21/11/2013 08:45

Some of the unkindest, most selfish people I have met have been Christians who professed to be good people who went to church weekly and prayed daily and lots of other voluntary lovely stuff they never tired of telling you about, but were just generally horrible people.

Soditall · 21/11/2013 08:46

Forgot one and most probably nearly everyone will hate this one!

I don't get the buzz about dishwashers!
We don't have one and honestly even if we won the lottery and lived in a mansion I wouldn't want one!
There's 7 of us and it takes me all of 10 minutes to wash up after dinner the rest of the day it takes less than that and we cook from scratch so use quite a few pans ect.

They're so expensive, they can break down, they use your electricity, they have to be cleaned out themselves so just another machine to clean, the stuff to use inside them costs so much more than washing-up-liquid and they take so long to wash anything up.

I have friends who have serious arguments about whose turn it is to load unload the dishwasher. And God forbid it should break down they get really worked up over it!

rwepi · 21/11/2013 08:47

Thats definitely true carov but also the very lovliest people i know

Soditall · 21/11/2013 08:50

carovioletfizz I'm a Christian but i don't go to church because of people like that!

But I do try to always be a good person and I always treat people the way I'd like to be treated.I do do lots to help other people but apart from my husband and sometimes my children no one else knows about it!

I pray every day but not because I want to get into Heaven or because I'm scared of going to Hell.I pray everyday just because I like to talk to God everyday. And seriously if he hears me he's most probably laughing his head off(I don't pray like anyone else)I talk to him like he's my best mate.

SassySpice · 21/11/2013 08:51

I enjoy smoking.

I sneer at ladies with Kath Kidston bags.

killpeppa · 21/11/2013 08:56

sassy.
I enjoy it too.

I dont own a bag, but I do have cath kidson wallpaper-sorryWink

missmash · 21/11/2013 08:57

So sodital, I feel exactly the same, seems an awful lot of trouble for the same results as doing it yourself. My mum is always complaining about her dishwasher and how it doesn't get everything clean, she rinses everything first and doesn't trust it with her cutlery so washes that by hand!
I feel the same about microwaves, my MIL thinks I'm crazy cos I don't want one and can't believe I keep turning down her offer of buying us one!

VerySmallSqueak · 21/11/2013 09:00

I think ferrets smell lovely.

GobbySadcase · 21/11/2013 09:02

You try having other posters constantly insisting your family is inferior and not good enough to have a life rather than an existence and not having a shitlist. Cos guess what it's always the same 2-3 people whatever their current nc is,

And if you don't like the fact I have a shitlist then you're probably on it.

monicalewinski · 21/11/2013 09:09

Sassy & Killpeppa, I enjoy smoking too.

(I also have beautifully white teeth and and even though I'm 38 and have been smoking since I was 15, people still think I'm early 30s)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 21/11/2013 09:20

Have got to p4, will be interesting to see how this one pans out .... kind of an all our AIBU's on one thread. Hmmm, I predict a bun fight Grin

So, Bill "I don't think Shakespeare is all that"
Yes, I think was probably quite entertaining in his day but people should read and watch more contemporary plays which they (I) understand better and have more to say to them, and aren't set in the middle ages (or thereabouts)

HoratiaDrelincourt · 21/11/2013 09:20

Mrs Brown's Boys is utter, utter shit.

Paternity leave is a fucking waste of time after the first couple of days unless mother has had a section.

Keeping other people happy is more important than being happy yourself.

Olives are nasty. Shellfish are wet insects. If you drink milk you should eat veal.

Babies are boring.

killpeppa · 21/11/2013 09:26

mrs browns boys is HILARIOUS.
I think some people dont get 'irish humour’ Grin

HoratiaDrelincourt · 21/11/2013 09:33

"Mrs Brown" is horrifically unprofessional and revoltingly self absorbed. It's nothing to do with Irishness.

boschy · 21/11/2013 09:38

I dont think there is anything particularly wrong with paying a tradesman/cleaner/sole trader or small business in cash, even if they are not going to declare all/any of it. I would far prefer the corporate giants to be pursued so that they paid proper levels of tax - much more lucrative for the country as a whole.

imofftolisdoonvarna · 21/11/2013 09:41

Agree mrs Brown's boys is total shite and nothing to do with 'Irish humour'. However my (Irish) parents think its the most hilarious thing on telly Hmm

Bookaholic · 21/11/2013 09:46

Bacon is vile, horrible, nasty stuff and pollutes anything it touches.

I can't remember who it was but I really want to thank the poster who mentioned Sebastien Chabal earlier in the thread!

I still love 1980s heavy metal, and the look that went with it (may be related to my second point here)

imofftolisdoonvarna · 21/11/2013 09:46

Father ted on the other hand - that was pure Irish catholic genius! Although my dad says that Dermot Morgan's untimely death was a result of making his living from blasphemy....

cloggal · 21/11/2013 09:48

Shock lisdoonvarna really?
(I say this as someone with plenty of Irish catholic family!)

cloggal · 21/11/2013 09:49

I meant what your dad said, not your views on Mrs Brown! :)
