to think if you wanted coffee with a friend, McDonalds would not be the obvious place to go?

I mean - it's not even served in a mug.

Just seen the advert and I was surprised to see McDonalds were trying to market themselves as a place to go for a coffee.

I would rather not go, lol.

Yanbu

LaGuardia · 18/11/2013 21:32

I understand it is cheap and not full of bf women.

Dinnaeknowshitfromclay · 18/11/2013 21:32

McTea. I luss McTea! It's McTea for me. Soz :/

ilovesooty · 18/11/2013 21:33

If you go to McDonald's in Malta it is served in a mug, the coffee is lovely and you can get great cake too. It should be like that here.

LuciusMalfoyisSmokingHot · 18/11/2013 21:34

Bleurgh, McD coffee taste like crap.

Shallishanti · 18/11/2013 21:34

I would not go under any circumstances (short of starving and no other food/drink available)

DramaAlpaca · 18/11/2013 21:36

I go in there occasionally to get a takeaway coffee as I think their cappucino is really nice & better than you get in a lot of coffee shops. But I don't think I'd want to sit in there with a friend for a coffee & a natter.

hyenafunk · 18/11/2013 21:36

Yanbu. Made me giggle when I saw the advert earlier, particularly the guy asking the girl out. Now that's a way to pull.

WeShouldOpenABar · 18/11/2013 21:36

If it's a mccafe they are proper coffees served in mugs and a nice choice of cake and toasties, don't knock it till you've tried it

Twoandtwohalves · 18/11/2013 21:38

In my town, it's about the only place to go. I have my coffee mornings in the next town along (I'm on the edge of Town 1, 10mins further to walk to Town 2). Was surprised to see several similar meets (babies and toddlers in tow) in a drive thru when we stopped for breakfast at the start of our holiday journey recently I know, we are so sophisticated.

ilovesooty · 18/11/2013 21:38

Do they have McCafes in England? That's what I visited in Malta. Squashy sofas and everything.

DrivingToDistraction · 18/11/2013 21:38

Eh, the coffee's OK, a third of the price of costa etc and in some towns it's McD's (which have been mostly made over and tend to be at least clean) or some greasy spoon serving Nescafé! You could do worse.

lunar1 · 18/11/2013 21:38

DH is a real coffee snob and loves mcD's coffee.

BlingBang · 18/11/2013 21:39

What we need is mcCafes. love them - kids can have their crap and you can have a nice coffee, cake or panini next door.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 18/11/2013 21:44

I haven't been in a McDonald's in 10 years.

However, DP (coffee snob) was discussing coffee with a coffee snob colleague of his the other day who said that the coffee is actually pretty damn good.

Don't know if it comes in an actual cup or not though. I still probably wouldn't go though.

Trills · 18/11/2013 21:46

I can see that they are trying to say "our coffee is better" and that's good news, but the atmosphere isn't going to change that quickly!

OrlandoWoolf · 18/11/2013 21:47

Last time I had a coffee in McDonalds, it came from a press a button machine. In a polystyrene cup.

I hate coffee from those machines. I think we might have a McCafe here - but we also have a wide range of other coffee shops. Seems the in thing is to replace a shut down shop with a coffee shop.

I like macdonald coffee Confused but I would never go to a macdonald so for coffee.

SaucyJack · 18/11/2013 21:49

If you just want somewhere cheap to sit and have a natter, there are far worse places.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 18/11/2013 21:49

We always go in there during term time......I refuse to pay almost a fiver for a bloody latte.

josephinebruce · 18/11/2013 21:50

Well, whilst the no bf women would be a distinct advantage - will prefer Costa, or Cafe Nero....or the lovely independent one 5 minutes away from where I work which has the most amazing coffee......

Mandy2003 · 18/11/2013 21:50

Have a Biscuit to go with it!

usualsuspect · 18/11/2013 21:50

McDonald's coffee is good.

And not extortionately priced like Costa and the like.

Plus you can scoff a big Mac with your coffee.

PissesGlitter · 18/11/2013 21:51

I love a McDonalds latte
