AIBU?

Cliff Richard - should he give it up?

Just been watching him on This Morning (whilst pretending to work from home and surfing Mumsnet).

AIBU to think he should call it quits? His face is full of plastic and his movements are stiff. He's certainly never been a Mick Jagger but Mick still has the energy and fire of a 30 year old, despite looking so haggard (and we all know why THAT is).

So Cliff, what are you doing? You were very pretty when you were young. But now I think it's time to put on the slippers.

??

Urgh, yes, Bono, the cunt, can fuck right off too!

Hold your horses on dear Elton, he's still a legend.

Sp, can I just warn you now that one of my Christmas names is HoneydragonAteCliffRichard.

You still have to love me if I use it.

I will still love you but I wouldn't be able to look you in the eye anymore.

I'm having a Cliffmas name

I may adapt it. I can't remember why I ate him now Confused

Because you heard you are what you eat and you wanted to be immortal and photogenic

yabu, he should carry on for as long as it makes him happy. I saw him in an interview a few years ago, very nice man. Not into his music but can't understand the hate towards him.

yabu

why should anyone retire from doing something they love. He is still selling music and people still pay to go and see him. He has never been cool but he has many fans

I want to see Madonna still touring at 75 too

Love Cliff's gospel "why should the Devil have all da good" music.

I wish we'd all been ready ...

Small Corners is a wonderful under-rated album. So is 'Silver'.

Cliff is a legend in his own (leather) underpants. And his wine from his vineyard in Portugal is reasonably gluggable as well > hic < Wine

To this day I cant understand what was wrong with Cliff singing at Wimbledon, he was having fun and so was the crowd. It was the least offensive thing ever. Singing in the Rain....

Well, I guess its each to his own ....

I saw Cliff in a coffee shop a couple of weeks ago. Some fans were talking to him and he seemed very nice.

Gentle Readers,

Can I ask those of you who are old enough to cast your minds back to the Eurovision Song Contest of 1973. Cliff was representing the UK (again) with a fairly awful song - Power to all our Friends.

However, it was not a classic year and students (in my case) and families countrywide were gathered in front of the flickering screen thinking we were in with a chance.

It was all going very well, despite the dodgy jester outfit, and hopes were high. Then 41 seconds in he did that thing with his legs. Howls of disbelief filled the air as he blew it. Such was the hysteria in our communal TV room that we were sprawled on the floor in a state of hysteria for ages. We'd recover a bit then someone would stand up and do an impression and we were once more lost to hysteria. My friend Chloe laughed herself into an asthma attack.

It's my belief that he should just have retired quietly at that point and never assaulted my ears again.

Those fortunate enough never to have seen it may not want to click on this link. It's an image you will never be able to erase. I know, because I never have forgotten it.

41 seconds in - brace yourselves -

I hope Chloe isn't on Mumsnet. If she is, sorry, Chlo.

Those legs!!

Even the horror doesn't detract from my wish I had been a student in the 70's, though! Amazing! Envy

I do believe Justin Fletcher's (mr tumble) father wrote Power to all our friends.

Just a useless fact I thought I'd throw in there.

I hope he didn't do the choreography as well colley But, thinking of Mr T, maybe he did ......

The wine tasted fine,
Power to the vine.

Can't argue with that!

Right - Elton John should give up he can't sing any more

Paul Mcartney (and I say this sadly 'cos i used to fancy the pants off him ) can't sing any more and should give up.

The Who are a joke esp. fascist Roger Daltrey (my sis will hate me for that).

Cliff Richard should stop pretending he's 32 and give others a chance

Madonna (see above) Grin

Cliffy should not be seen in public with a decomposing marsupial clinging to the top of his napper. Just saying.....

I saw The New Who with Ringo Starr's son on drums (Zak Starkey?) about 5 years ago and they were still mind-blowingly good, which is a lot more than can be said for almost all their contemporaries.

Cliff is not cool, or sexy, or even normal. But he is not horrible either, and as far as I can tell has never done anything bad to anybody, so we should let him warble still under his dead marsupial hairpiece.

Well he hasn't 'come out' to help anyone else has he? He lives in a bubble IMO.
