Pegging

I think I have finally battered my OH into pegging me. I know we will need loads of lube but does anyone have any other advice? Must admit I'm nervous to find out what her choice of strap on is lol

Shit, I didn't realise I was meant to wash my pegs.

Can I derail the thread a bit and talk about washing lines? The first thing I did when we bought our house was get rid of the rotary one. I can't fucking stand them.

killpeppa · 16/11/2013 08:02

im looking for a new washing line actually.

to rotary or not to rotary?

namechangesforthehardstuff · 16/11/2013 08:03

Pegging MN guide:

You Will Need

A rotary washing line or similar

Pance (apparently)

Sturdy plastic pegs (not IKEA)

A strap on

Lube

Have I understood this correctly?

littlewhitebag · 16/11/2013 08:04

I love pegging. No one else in my house is allowed to do it. I have a system and my whirligig cannot be sullied by someone else's random pegging. I am obviously slovenly as I have never washed my pegs. Must go and get right onto it and get them all pristine before putting them away for winter.

I also have a pulley for indoor drying. I love my pulley very much.

thornrose · 16/11/2013 08:04

Retractable line, all the way for me.

JudyJudgypants · 16/11/2013 08:05

I wish I'd looked after my peg bag, its gone all saggy because I was careless, it must have had hundreds of pegs stuffed in it over the years,
I wasn't fussy.
Recently it got so bad all my pegs fell out whilst I was in the garden and as I was bent over trying to gather them up, my neighbor called over, and asked what I was doing?.
I said, "its me peg bag its bust open, its on its last legs" and she said she'd had the same problem and I needed to see a gynecologist about it. so what I want to know is, would a gynecologist put a draw string in? and since when did a gynecologists start doing small domestic sewing repairs? is because of the NHS cuts?

tumbletumble · 16/11/2013 08:07

My peg bag is home made by my MIL

She gave it to me for my xmas present one year Hmm

EauRouge · 16/11/2013 08:07

Definitely retractable. Then when you're not using it you can look out on your garden and enjoy the view without a massive, brightly-coloured mutant umbrella ruining it.

Norfolkbumpkin · 16/11/2013 08:11

I confess that I am a slattern as I do tend to leave the pegs on the line, but I think this is counteracted buy me always pegging up the socks in matching pairs. I feel all wrong if I don't.

Norfolkbumpkin · 16/11/2013 08:12

Damn autocorrect, by me I mean!

TheVermiciousKnid · 16/11/2013 08:12

We always leave pegs out. And they're wooden.

We do have a pulley. It's wonderful.

CadleCrap · 16/11/2013 08:12

I love my HUGE rotary drier - I have really crap pegs though Sad

TheVermiciousKnid · 16/11/2013 08:14

My mother once gave me a peg bag for Christmas. It made me cry, and not in a good way. :(

sparkle101 · 16/11/2013 08:19

Wooden pegs all the way I think. Wilko's are very good. This is from my very limited washing putting out experience as it is more dh's domain, I'm all about the tumble drier!

Soldierskittle · 16/11/2013 08:26

When I was a child [said in that voice] everyone had lines strung between two tall poles. The upper line, once full could be winched up to dizzying heights. I long for a washing line like that but I've no idea where you'd get one or how you'd make one :(

plum100 · 16/11/2013 08:31

I have both - rotary is great and holds loads but on this weather i use my retractable as the wind can really get to it and give it a good flapping!

Thants · 16/11/2013 08:37

I want to peg dp isn't to it Confused.
I can dream.
Lube, foreplay, start small!

EauRouge · 16/11/2013 08:40

Lube and foreplay? I really am doing my laundry all wrong.

IslaValargeone · 16/11/2013 08:43

Oh this is about laundry?
I thought it was about those little plastic pegs you clip on your cellophane bags for leftover food.
I do love a good housekeeping thread.

Flossiechops · 16/11/2013 08:44

Dmil bought me a lovely pink Cath Kidston peg bag but it's turned green with mould out in the garden all year long. I may ask Santa for a new one Smile

thornrose · 16/11/2013 08:46

"Give it a good flapping" Grin

BlackholesAndRevelations · 16/11/2013 08:52

Lol @ going to the gynaecologist!! Grin

And "pance" Grin

Ours is retractable but I currently can't retract it as dd broke it. Plastic pegs in matching colurs of course.

honeybeeridiculous · 16/11/2013 08:53

I'm very slovenly, leave pegs on the line all year, my DD moans as she finds spiders etc hiding in the crevices when she does her washing, this is the reason I don't use wooden pegs, they go rusty and soggy living on the line all year, loving this thread Grin

aGnotherGnu · 16/11/2013 08:55

The rotary line is better for clothes, but I would like a straight line for the sheets as well. I pull the rotary out and store in the shed when not in use.

My pegs are kept in a plastic basket which hangs on the line while in use.

And I peg trousers from the bottom otherwise the waistband doesn't dry properly IME.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 16/11/2013 08:56

Does anyone use a prop??
