Knitting your own Birkenstocks?!
Katie Hopkins again.. Doesn't she ever go away? The debate about Attachment Parenting didn't seem to even go anywhere or be resolved.
Anyone else see it?
AIBU to think Katie Hopkins needs less airtime?

I think KH is awful too, but I don't agree that Peaches Geldof "won" or "socked it to her". She talked over her right from the start and the cot death thing was pretty ill judged IMO - didn't she say something like "it's called cot death for a reason, not co sleeping death"?

Neither are actually experts are they?

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:15

Earless AP attracts vitriol because the mothers doing it feel the need to preach re how wonderful it is and how damaging other methods are.

This time the advocate decided to do it on national TV. And no she didn't support other choices she likened them to using your baby as an alarm clock, increasing the risk of SIDS and raising cortisol.

Not doing AP is not CC or caring dangerously high levels of cortisol.People who use CC do it 3 nights max normally, then your baby sleeps and is far too busy doing that to cry.My 3 turned into the happiest, contended babies post CC pre CC they were the crankiness, stressed babies on the planet with a stressed miserable mother to boot.

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:16

Causing

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:19

Oh and the NHS site says baby should be in his own bed in your room to be safest and to avoid co- sleeping.

So do a bit more research next time Peaches.

OrlandoWoolf · 12/11/2013 18:20

This was the wrong person to debate AP with. Katie just winds too many people up and she is unable to debate. It's pantomime, not a proper debate.

I'm not sure either of them came across particularly well, the only thing that was apparent was that neither of them were experts in their field - Peaches in AP nor Katie in parenting as a whole! Hmm

I commend Peaches for her approach, she was at least passionate about it and it works for her family but she was quite immature in her approach to the interview, talking over Katie, and this was a shame. Katie on the other hand was just vile.......as usual!

OrlandoWoolf · 12/11/2013 18:27

Peaches called Katie a Rent a gob and that was her raison d'etre. Then said she's always putting women down.

Regardless of your views on AP and the rest of the debate - that was so worth it to see.

Along with Katie's sneering and gurning.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 12/11/2013 18:28

I still firmly believe that KH looks like one of those troll toys with the sticky-uppy hair. Brilliant, really, as she trolls for a living! Grin

IamInvisible · 12/11/2013 18:30

I don't think it is cruel to mention, I did not berate her, that she didn't strap her baby into his pushchair.

I agree with you Retropear.

I can tell you my DC have not been damaged by DH and I doing CC for 3 nights when they were 10/11 months old.

NewtRipley · 12/11/2013 18:31

Agree Orlando

It was weird how close KH sat. That in itself would make me incredibly uncomfortable

Earless why do we continuously need to hear about your(and other AP parent's choices)? Just why?

There is no need to share not from you,not from Peaches or any of the other "knit your own Birkenstocks" parents.

Like any of us give a shit what a z lister who as never had to live in the real world as to being a parent does.

Sick of these so called celebrities who become mothers and then make themselves self styled experts on parenting whilst continuously feeling the need to share their pearls of wisdom.

Tailtwister · 12/11/2013 18:37

I'd love to see KH head to head with Mayim Bialik. I bet she would give motor mouth a run for her money!

That said, well done to PG. I don't think I would have been able to stand up to such domineering tactics at such a young age, or bring up 2 young children either for that matter. She impressed me with her presence (and yes, she looks amazing too!) and she should be proud of herself.

Oldraver · 12/11/2013 18:39

Oh she must of been busy...Katie Twatkins was spouting her stuff about breastfeeding on Radio 2 today

MmeLindor · 12/11/2013 18:39

I don't agree with everything Peaches said (and to be fair, she didn't say she is an expert on AP, just that she loosely follows this parenting philosophy).

Just looked at their Twitter feeds. This morning KH 'Looking forward to getting some parenting advice from Peaches later on' and attached a pic of Peaches' baby toppling out of the pram when it fell into a pothole in the pavement.

I am actually surprised KH got out of that one without a fist to the face. That was a really cruel thing to do.

Thatisall · 12/11/2013 18:40

I just wish PG hadn't interrupted KH. It's the only criticism anyone can really make. I get why she did though. She did because she was faced with a troll who usually interrupts and shouts over people and because KH horrendous face pulling and the fact that she practically sat in PG's knee was surely interrupting what she had to say.

I bet KH is living this btw.
I bet she's sat at home looking like a witch, reading this lot, cackling "say my name bitches, say my name"

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:40

ThatGrin

MmeLindor · 12/11/2013 18:42

IamInvisible
I just looked for the story. She drove the pram over a pothole, and the buggy tipped. Her son was strapped in.

It is called an accident.

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:43

Re said self styled experts tis funny how they normally shut up when baby hits 2.Wink

Noticed that a lot in RL and in celebsville.

IamInvisible · 12/11/2013 18:43

The difference is earless is those of us who didn't/don't do AP are IME less vocal about how other methods are damaging to babies.

I don't give a flying fig if you want to co-sleep until your kids are 25, but I didn't. My DC are very happy, well adjusted young adults. I didn't need to 'wear' them to do this, they were BF, they are loved, they were soothed when they cried. They come first all the time. I wanted them to self soothe and so did CC for 3 nights. It didn't damage them. Bearing in mind DS1 never had a tantrum, I should imagine his cortisol levels have been raised a lot less than the average child!

Heartbrokenmum73 · 12/11/2013 18:43

Just looked at their Twitter feeds. This morning KH 'Looking forward to getting some parenting advice from Peaches later on' and attached a pic of Peaches' baby toppling out of the pram when it fell into a pothole in the pavement.

That, right there, is fucking disgusting behaviour on KH's part and shows what a vile character she is Angry

Retropear · 12/11/2013 18:44

Wasn't there some controversy because the baby wasn't strapped in and she picked up her phone first.
