Knitting your own Birkenstocks?!
Katie Hopkins again.. Doesn't she ever go away? The debate about Attachment Parenting didn't seem to even go anywhere or be resolved.
Anyone else see it?
AIBU to think Katie Hopkins needs less airtime?

Well for every silly cow ^selling her soul via print and visual media, there are ten thousand silly cows watching, reading, buying and criticising it.

If we watch these shows and comment upon them then we are morally no better.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 23:11

My empathy goes to anyone really who has suffered horrific tragedy be they rich or poor, well known to me or someone who is in the media.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:11

I find it perfectly possible (and not hard) to have empathy and sympathy for all kinds of people. I don't find a sliding scale of these qualities easy nor appropriate to maintain. Sympathy multi-tasking.

As said before. The shittiest Western life is often a life of material ease, psychological and functional comfort compared to those led by many in poorer parts of the World.

That argument doesn't hold with me. sorry.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 23:12

x post Mignonette, you said it so much more eloquently. Grin

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:14

Does anybody else find it even more unpalatable that Thrush may not actually mean what she says and is just playing a role?

The strength of her convictions for me was just about the only quality possessed by Thrush that could redeem her.

If she is just spouting this guff for money w/ no conviction behind it then that makes her the vilest kind of media tart. Ugh ugh ugh.

HaroldTheGoat · 12/11/2013 23:14

She is only talking about the way she looks after her children, its hardly selling your soul!

She has a bit of an article in which she discussed her type of outlook on being a mother. It just so happens that its the polar opposite of the resident couch gob's spoutings.

I thought she took care to mention that she wasn't telling people what they should be doing at the beginning, although she seemed to go a bit of course during the cot part.

thebody · 12/11/2013 23:15

Jesus if I brought anything written by Katie or peaches there's no help. you know you need to give up. Grin

actually I am old enough to remember a documentary on the Geldofs where Paula was telling us all how to bath and bottle feed her then first baby, Fifi.

does anyone else?

I agree with Mignonette. I met Paula Yates a few times , and her intense love for Peaches and her other daughters was clear. Peaches has had a heck of a lot to deal with, and it is to her credit that she is really trying to be a good parent ,and making a loving family at an age when many of us are pretty irresponsible.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:16

I do. Regardless of whether you bought into the advice, Paula Yates was a fine writer. She wrote columns for many magazines/papers

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:19

I am a Republican and I find the people who afford the Royals the least privacy are those who claim to be their most ardent subjects. I have absolute sympathy for William and Harry. They lost their Mother after years of unhinged behaviour by both parents and the obsessed public and media.

I have sympathy for anybody who endures a hard childhood w/ loss and pain.

thebody · 12/11/2013 23:28

yes I do take your points but perhaps I would say sympathy at her loss.

empathy seems to me to be far more akin to what you understand from your own experience.

I can sympathise with someone loosing a parent when young but can empathise with someone who has a permanently disabled child. one I didn't experience and the other I have.

who knows.

anyway I wish her well and she's more Iikable than Katie but who isn't.

MmeLindor · 12/11/2013 23:38

That kind of reasoning defeats me.

I don't have a limited amount of empathy, and can feel for the girl that Peaches was, while admiring what she has made of herself.

At the same time, I can feel for those who are, for whatever reasons, going through a difficult period in their lives. I can even feel sorrow and anger for the lives of women and girls in other countries, who live lives of poverty and suffering.

Empathy isn't a cake to be sliced up and divided, and if you give away too much, you have none left.

Not going to argue with Retro anymore, since she has confessed her admiration for KT. I can't understand how anyone can feel anything other than utter repulsion after reading those hate-filled tweets. She joked about scattering tacks under the wheels of Tani Grey-Thompson's wheelchair last week.

Monty27 · 12/11/2013 23:44

Omg, dsis had just explained to me who KH is. I had no idea.

Anyway, my take on the whole thing is FUCKING BAD TV!!!

thebody · 12/11/2013 23:48

well your reasoning doesn't 'defeat me' I understand your points but respectfully suggest you allow others to disagree with you.

yes peaches lost her mother and that's rough but she's rich, she's pretty and she's got a happy family.

many many don't. as I said I wish her well.

thebody · 12/11/2013 23:53

the tweet about wonderful Tani Grey is fucking disgusting.

can't believe anyone would say this, disgraceful.

HaroldTheGoat · 12/11/2013 23:55

I found an article with a selection of her foul tweets.

She also said something about a ginger child putting her off her lunch.

Monty27 · 13/11/2013 00:02

Thebody with all due respect, do you think being rich and pretty makes you happy inside? Shock

You could be rich and pretty and as happy as a crab in desert surely?

Wuldric · 13/11/2013 00:05

Neither came out of this well, tbh. Peaches was inarticulate and well, we all love a young un, but a bit feeble. Katie Hopkins was her usual unloveable self. Not a great debate.

Balaboosta · 13/11/2013 00:06

They're both talking bollocks. Peaches is nice and Katie isn't. And that was crap tv.

thebody · 13/11/2013 00:15

Monty with all due respect i DID NOT say being just rich and pretty makes you happy!!!!

I said she had a Happy family and 2 lovely children.Thats real happiness. read the full post and don't jump down my throat! Grin

.

M0naLisa · 13/11/2013 00:26

Didnt she call her the suns rent a gob lol

Monty27 · 13/11/2013 00:54

body

I may have misinterpreted what you said 'yes peaches lost her mother and that's rough but she's rich, she's pretty and she's got a happy family'

It was the 'but' that got me. And how do you know she's got a happy family? (with all due respect).

I'm not fighting with you, I don't fight, just putting my point across. That's all.

I feel sorry for the Geldof dcs I really do. There can't be much worse than your dm od-ing, not much at all. But I wish Peaches hadn't lowered herself to take that silly cow (KH) on on national tv? Surely she's worth more than that?

I'm a dm and would have been cringing at Peaches, as no doubt Bob is.

Oh what do I know? Lol :)

scottishmummy · 13/11/2013 06:48

Kate Hopkins is used by TM to provoke, incite outrage and goad the masses
She's like two headed circus act, come look, come scream, feel the fear
This morning if the faux his dare she say that, but they love it for ratings and publicity

HaroldTheGoat · 13/11/2013 07:47

I wouldn't have cringed at her at all, she didn't embarrass herself in the slightest.

It's not like they were hitting each other with chairs on Jeremy Kyle..
