Knitting your own Birkenstocks?!
Katie Hopkins again.. Doesn't she ever go away? The debate about Attachment Parenting didn't seem to even go anywhere or be resolved.
Anyone else see it?
AIBU to think Katie Hopkins needs less airtime?

I laughed all the way through it - and I think Peaches looks like a young Katie Hopkins.

Peaches did spout some crap to be fair, but did hold her own (was a bit creepy how close Katie was sitting to her though).

On another note, I don't understand why people have said the term 'emotionally retarded' is offensive - in that context the word retarded makes sense, how else would you put it? (genuine question).

Retropear · 12/11/2013 14:13

Well Bund I showed my babies I love them by teaching them to self sooth and thus sleep properly.Wink

bundaberg · 12/11/2013 14:15

and that's your prerogative.

you saying that doesn't mean that AP'ers don't

Wink
Retropear · 12/11/2013 14:15

Emotionally, mentally or physically it's not a nice word imvho.

monicalewinski · 12/11/2013 14:21

Ok Retro thanks. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid (and didn't when Peaches said it) in that phrasing, but it would have jumped out at me if used in the usual derogatory way.

Why do we all feel so bad about saying she looked lovely I wonder?

BigBadWolefPlum · 12/11/2013 14:28

maybe emotionally stunted monica I work in Mental Health and every day there is a new word we can't use!

dappledawn · 12/11/2013 14:33

Hi Peaches! Grin -(if you are indeed a MNetter and are reading this) - you did great! I used to teach you (long long ago, when you were an extremely cool teenager) and I'm delighted to see how articulate and sensible you have turned out! You sho' knocked spots off that KH woman, and I'm sure you are a brilliant Mum too.

Ilovexmastime · 12/11/2013 14:34

Just watched it and my goodness, didn't KH make a herself look bad? For a start, it was obvious that she was trying to intimidate PG by sitting so close and leaning into her, then there were the faces she was pulling! Not to mention the vile stuff that was coming out of her mouth...

I have no real opinions on AP, it's just another way of bringing up your baby and my opinion is that you should do what is right for you and your family, but I would like to give PG a round of applause. She's gone right up in my estimation!

runes · 12/11/2013 14:46

Brilliant Grin Grin Well done Peaches!! Never thought I'd say that. She really showed big Hatie up, which in fairness wouldn't be hard to do.

hardboiledpossum · 12/11/2013 14:58

retropear there have been a number if recent studies that show an increase in cortisol not only when controlled crying is being carried out but in the weeks after too. links on the isis/durham sleep study.

mrspremise · 12/11/2013 15:18

Hopkins needs to lower her eyebrows when other people are talking or pretty soon she'll be able to wear her pubes as a moustache low blow Grin

Mumbrage · 12/11/2013 15:20

boring, apart from the bit where peaches said "as you said already on twitter" or words to that effect, making kh look very rehearsed.

can't believe pg got so riled up though. she must know the score.

MulberryHag · 12/11/2013 15:44

PG could be a MNter?!

OP posts:
MulberryHag · 12/11/2013 15:47

Definitely think KH doesn't believe half the crAP she spouts.
It all seems to be for negative publicity and not because she genuinely believes in any of the sides she takes in arguments.

She reminds me a bit of a smug and condescending Sally Bercow...
Hmm

OP posts:
hyenafunk · 12/11/2013 15:54

Ugh KH again...

I hate being one judging based on what others have said when I haven't actually watched it but tbh I'm so sick of the amount of airtime this silly attention seeking witch gets that I cba watching another of her performances.

PG isn't the best example of AP anyway. From what I've read online and seen on her twitter the only part of AP she really seems to adhere to is the co sleeping. Not sure if she still Bf's the youngest but she only did with the eldest until 6 months. Whilst AP doesn't have rules per se you are supposed to continue until natural weaning occurs. She briefly did babywearing with a damn baby bjorn which anyone in the AP world knows is the worst carrier ever invented. And she uses disposable nappies.

I'm not judging anyone who does the above but if you're arguing on the side of attachment parenting it would help if you actually follow attachment parenting... Just making that point.

Retropear · 12/11/2013 16:01

Hard and I'm supposed to care why exactly?Babies cry and produce cortisol for all sorts of things,we all do sooooooo.......

Anyhow not sure why you're getting het up over a "study" there will be another one saying the opposite in a few months- there always is.

IamInvisible · 12/11/2013 16:02

I agree with Retropear.

The comment Peaches Geldof made about "it's called cot death for a reason, it's not called co-sleeping death" made me want to slap her tbh. How many people do you think that hurt? Totally insensitive and unnecessary.

Oh, and Peaches if you're reading, you didn't "win" like you Tweeted, because to have done that you would have had to have let Katie Hopkins actually get a word in!

Retropear · 12/11/2013 16:04

Iam my thoughts exactly- reminded me of a stroppy teenager.

noddyholder · 12/11/2013 16:05

Raised cortisol levels are no joke. They cause the same illnesses as prolonged steroid use/abuse cancer heart disease diabetes etc. I have been on clinical trials re this very subject as I have been on them for 30 yrs following transplant surgery. High stress levels and fear pain and distress all raise levels to comparable levels thus causing similar illnesses.

Retropear · 12/11/2013 16:25

Yeah except a baby crying or stressed for 3 or 4 mins a couple or so times a day is going to do diddly squat.

Or are you saying all babies left at nurseries who cry/become stressed are doomed?

Crying isn't the only indicator of stress indeed sometimes it might not even be one and is perhaps an outpouring of emotion.I de - stress when I cry.

Please don't start stat twisting and scare mongering in order to justify your choice of parenting style- it's utter tedium.

Retropear · 12/11/2013 16:44

Also you need cortisol for body rhythm and have a naturally high level of the stuff every morning whether you like it or not.

noddyholder · 12/11/2013 16:57

Natural am levels are not as high as when distressed and most people who leave babies to cry don;t just do it for one day Smile

noddyholder · 12/11/2013 16:58

Twisting and scaremongering? Its factual actually I have the health to prove it unfortunately.
