Knitting your own Birkenstocks?!
Katie Hopkins again.. Doesn't she ever go away? The debate about Attachment Parenting didn't seem to even go anywhere or be resolved.
Anyone else see it?
AIBU to think Katie Hopkins needs less airtime?

There used to be an MNer whose children were at the same school. I'd love to know what the parents and teachers think.

Can you imagine the potential teasing those children could get at secondary? She has set them up to be easy targets.

youarewinning · 12/11/2013 22:41

I'm not a fan of AP. In fact I'm more of a do what needs to be done parent! however...... Peaches backed up her POV with fact and studies and KH was just, well, vile. She throw insults as an argument and really should have been pulled up on the swearing.
The comment about 'playing with dolls' was ridiculous.

I did lol at Peaches comment about obviously having a sex life as she had 2 babies under 2!

OrlandoWoolf · 12/11/2013 22:42

mignonette

If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. That seems appropriate here.

One day, she will be dumped by the media. She will wake up and no one will touch her. What then?

BasilBabyEater · 12/11/2013 22:43

Peaches won that one, without a doubt.

That bit at the beginning where KH was sitting there smirking and gurning in that ill-bred, obnoxious and bad-mannered way was a triumph of self-control - if Peaches had lamped her, I think the nation would have understood and forgiven.

KH's behaviour is bizarre. She's such a snob and yet she behaves as if she hasn't even got the most passing acquaintance with the concept of good manners.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 22:44

And I am the Mother of a 25v yr old, a 19 year old and three stepchildren aged from 21 to 27 and I am more than comfortable to read and listen to the advice and experiences of all kinds of Mothers.

It is arrogant and daft to think you know more than somebody else simply because your children are older and that you cannot learn or be interested by somebody else just because they have less experience or are younger.

At its worse it just means you have spent more years making mistakes Wink.

Get over yourself.

Ofgs

Sorry but zlister is pretty accurate- what does she actually do?

Also compared to hard working families, paying mortgages whilst parenting the life of Peaches isn't exactly reality.Neither she or her husband ever seem to work during their exhausting week that merits ditching the kids every weekend.

Anyhoo school run tomorrow in RL so I'm off to bed.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 22:48

I pity Thrush's children. I pity her husband although he may not be for much longer. I wouldn't blame him.

She has failed at everything she has attempted whether it be Sandhurst, the Met Office, business, relationships...She was successful at shagging another womans husband in a field and arranging for paps to capture it.

As I read on Twitter, the only attachments that Thrush is capable of forming are to the genitals of other Women's husbands,

Obsesssssssssed Wink

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 22:52

She had enough reality when she was a child and into her young adult life. Have you no kindness, no empathy? Christ alive.

And I take it those accusing her of ditching her children at weekends would absolutely refuse to ever let their children out of their sights? Once you express that train of thought, it is mere hypocrisy to ever do the same.

Lucky children- loving parents and loving grandparents. And if you ever read the RED article that provoked the TM appearance, you cannot miss the wistful tone and words when she talks of her own Fathers constant travelling and consequent absence from his grandsons every day lives.

Epic empathy fail apparent in some of these posts.

thebody · 12/11/2013 22:53

we'll they are both on the tele for the cash and publicity arnt they.

both are very rich and lucky so can't stump up much in the way of interest or admiration in either of them to be honest.

personally it amazes me that anyone actually cares a flying fuck whether another parent co sleeps, or puts their child in a boarding school aged 5!!

basically sensible parents do what's right for their family set up and their circumstances.

Katy's remit is to be controversial as it gets her in TV and the Geldofs have bored me since band aid days.

pickledsiblings · 12/11/2013 22:53

The whole thing was completely staged I'm sure - they were sitting far too close together if the level of animosity is to be believed. I haven't watched daytime TV for years, is this what it has become? Peaches sounded like a complete amateur, I can't believe Philip Schofield actually took her seriously. She is quite pretty though.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 22:54

Classic Grin

I bet PG has lived a thousand lives more than most of us, she would have done without her MOthers tragic early death.

I agree its annoying that whenever any celeb has a baby they have to go and write a book about it and tell us all why what they do is best. I guess as she was up against KH I just didst feel put out by PG.

I was also v interested in what she said about low economy counties and babies and having seen some I did feel a softness and love....

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 22:54

Are you Thrush by any chance? Wink

Your life is your real life. Claiming PG has no concept of it as nor do other celebrities is a facile argument because your life compared to that of people in poor countries would seem like a fantasy.

Vakant · 12/11/2013 22:55

Well said, Mignonette.

Monty27 · 12/11/2013 22:56

I watched the interview online, I haven't a clue who Katie Hopkins is. And I haven't read much of this thread, so here's my take on the interview:

Peaches is rude

Peaches is deluded

I feel sorry for her because she had a druggie as a mother, so in a way I can understand her sentiment

She is wrong about co-sleeping, I have personal proof of that

Katie Hopkins, as I say I don't even know who she is but she does have unfortunate features Grin

I do believe, for those that care, is that babies, as long as they feel loved, they're fed, kept warm, will always be happy. :)

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 22:56

I was addressing Retro with the above BTW, not you Elf Smile

Understatement and that's purely because she was wicked enough to have happened to have been born into a wealthy family, Confused.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:02

Poor Peaches. She gave an interview to RED in which they asked her about being a Mother. Seeing as she has had two babies quite quickly, it would seem a normal thing to ask and a normal thing for a proud Mother to discuss. She wasn't prosleytising in the magazine but rather emphasising that this is what we do, what works for us and in no way are we setting this as some kind of template for other parents to aspire, live up to ir fail by.

They invited her on to discuss it because the dumb media is like a basket of puppies licking each others asses. A basket of very lazy puppies too that cannot be bothered to go seek out their own original journalism and story. Peaches (being no fool) quite rightly made what money she could out if it. Whether you rate her choices as a parent or on her work (she writes for a number of magazines BTW and very well too), she has not set herself up as Guru. If you take it that way and feel offended or patronised then maybe that is a hint that you need to develop a little more security and faith in your own choices?

Monty27 · 12/11/2013 23:05

Mign that makes her akin to Katie Price imho. Sell your soul why don't you. At the expense of your dc's. Silly cow.

Mignonette · 12/11/2013 23:06

Yes I agree Elf. I'm sure that Peaches found her wealth and privilege a more than adequate compensation for her dead Mother, dead stepfather and publicly warring parents.

Sad.

I read another interview about a year ago in which she spoke so honestly and movingly of her memories of her Mothers death. My heart went out to her and I was never a fan per se as I thought at one point that she was throwing away her undoubted talent as a writer.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 12/11/2013 23:06

I reckon there are publishers out there just waiting for KH's children to write misery memoirs

I am not sure, I bet she is very uber clear to her DC that this is a job that pays for the skiing holidays and will pay for their uni fee's and so on.

She may not even mean a word she says.

Still hard on them though when she sets herself up as such a hate figure.

thebody · 12/11/2013 23:07

not sure in the empathy thing.

I don't know pg personally so have no idea what she is like as a person. she lost her mother as a teen, so do many and if course that must be very hard but she had a father and is financially secure. she now has a happy marriage and 2 children.

not sure in the midst of people I know and dearly love who have suffered far worse tragedies than her my empathy goes to peaches.
