So many non-English voices, especially East Europeans, but so many different nationalities en masse it seems have moved here in the last 10-20 years - completely unprecedented historically. And in an already very over-crowded island.

Today I read Labour MP Frank Field say that the population increase due to immigration by 2031, i.e. less than 20 years, will be approximately 10 million and will require building something like seven new Birminghams! Or another London! Based on latest predictions in the papers today anyway.

Did Blair and Mandelson envisage this when they signed up for European Community rules on immigration and refugees? Or did they cynically not care because it meant cheap labour, cheap votes, increased profits (via membership of the European Community).

Did the architects of this policy not consider how it would affect housing, jobs and education and the resulting massive investment needed there, and the over-crowded population we have already.

I believe we have never been consulted or told anything honestly about what the consequences of EC membership was immigration-wise, if indeed there was ever any plan (doesn't seem to be, just a kind of opportunistic carpetbaggers philosophy approach of selling England by the pound).

I feel deceived and hoodwinked really. But are there any more positive thoughts on this? I find it v. depressing.

Clarity you say you want a discussion on the matter. Some posters have posted some very interesting and insightful links/facts/stats/posts on the matter which you have completely ignored. The only thing you have offered to the discussion is your personal experience.

What exactly was the point of all of this?

Because it sounds like you just wanted people to blindly sympathise and agree with you that we don't need any more 'non-English' voices in our streets.

feelingood · 06/11/2013 23:47

Search my nickname fgs.

Its about numbers not who people are.

If you are unable to clarify on what grounds I am a racist you should apologise. It is a very offensive thing to say to someone.

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker · 06/11/2013 23:47

I came over long before we joined the EU Sad. We had to flee, FLEE, here in the 16th century because of religious persecution. People STILL (looking at you, OP Hmm ) DELIBERATELY pronounce my surname wrongly.

And then of course you all adopted our laws and religion and we ran your country

Janine & RunRabbit

Alas, the OP has gone. To where, we know not. You wouldn't get straight answers out of her even if she was her. Many tried and many failed.

Widow - Don't be silly. Im talking 'now' as in this minute. I do not hate foreigners. As i said before i have foreign friends. But regarding this country. Where ever the people are from what ever colour they are, white, black, green or blue I think we have enough people here already. There is no more room to accommodate more.

HeeHiles · 06/11/2013 23:49

Phew! I'm exhausted - I've read all 18 pages!

I live in London - I walk down my local high street and can eat from all over the world - From Brazil to Malaysia - My dd's school covers all corners of the world too - I love it and I don't mind shuffling up a bit more to fit more in - UK is built on immigrants, and we need them because our population is ageing and we need young people to come here to be able to pay for them - it's that simple really!

HeeHiles · 06/11/2013 23:50

Where do you live LovelyBoy?

Lovecat · 06/11/2013 23:51

I hope I'm not inconweniencing you, Gordy.

Purr sorry for making you snort.

As my parting shot on this thread (I'm assuming that someone in MNtowers will be along at some point to delete this thread or else move it to cuntclassics), I bid you all (even the "I'm not racist, I just don't like foreigners invading our country and taking all the jobs, paying tax and contributing to our society) good night.

"Goodbye, Dick"

Garn, no bite. I'm going to bed and taking my age of enlightenment protestant supremacist ball with me

feelingood · 06/11/2013 23:54

Agree with lovely and Heehiles*

We need to sort out services to support a larger population before increasing it any further.

LEMisafucker · 06/11/2013 23:55

Its like the great actor Nick Berry always said..........

Mylovelyboy · 06/11/2013 23:55

HeeHiles - I was born in North London. Moved to Essex. Moved back to North London in my 20's-30's when I worked in the City and now live near Brentwood in a village called Ingatestone, Essex.

gordyslovesheep · 06/11/2013 23:55

I can't be racist some of my best mates are from the black country

QuintesKabooom · 06/11/2013 23:56

Clarity, you said you wanted a serious discussion. Did you read the study I linked to? This is the article on the BBC, if you feel like just getting the excerpt.... BBC

However, back to Fun.

And if you just feel like hearing some foreign voices in their "native habitat", I suggest you listen to a song by forriners, sung in English.

To be performed on the BBC children in need on the 15th.

They do even hold something fundamentally British in high esteem

But fundamentally, they are and I bloody love them.

I have not yet found ONE true Brit that understand and share the sense of humour. Which is why I give you In Norwegian. Just to prove it is a really sexy language. Wink
