Can't stand Ruby and read elsewhere that she has been contacted with a view to bringing out a book followed by a TV show (or vice versa). That will definitely be one to miss. Perhaps she could do a repeat of her opera cake with the nuts sliding off or her really horrendous garden and shed last week.

Both Paul and Mary have been harshly critical of Becca and Frances yet even though some of Ruby's look like crap, they are falling over themselves to give her praise.

It has really ruined the GBBO this year IMO.

I agree the others are ahead of ruby.

I am shocked she obtained a book and TV deal with her tone and pitch, she is v monotone.

Love GBBO and hope Ruby or Francis win, think they are all great like Kimberly's baking but at times she looks too competitive but again it's probably edited that way, they are all so talented dont know what Ruby has done to evoke so much MN wrath apart from being beautiful and talented Wink

I think the ruby thing has ruined the bake off. It just doesn't make sense for Ruby to be through unless someone is pulling strings imagining that pouty face on the front page of a magazine.

It's not about baking anymore, it's about marketing.

Ruby is a very, very pretty girl. Perhaps this is why she has apparently never bothered to develop any kind of charm.

Either Kimberley or Frances as a winner would be great, prefer K though. I am extremely sad Beca left, thought she was fab. Ruby should definitely have gone tonight, she failed on all three tasks - bollocks performance Angry

Moomin I dont think Ruby is pretty at all, I dont mean she is hideous, but not my idea of pretty.

Would you rather eat a cake that looked good but tasted bland or a cake that looks a bit dodgy but tastes delicious? That's why Ruby keeps getting through.

Bloomin travesty, Becca performed much better than Ruby tonight. I got the impression that it would have physically pained PH to say something good about Beccas food.
I'd have preferred the welsh rarebit & stilton macaroons to that beetroot jelly!

One thing I.noticed tonight is they appeared to use one shot of Kimberly seated 3 times, once when she finished her canapes, once when someone got a bad judging (Becca, maybe) and once at the end of the section.

The editing seems way more story boarded this series, and I think it's making the show charmless.

The stilton doorsteps may have lost it for becca but that brain cake was god awful it wasn't even set

Can't stand Kimberley though. Soooo smug. I'd hate to have her as my therapist too. Listening wisely but all the time thinking about how inadequate you are.

Also, I don't think Paul H is particularly generous towards Ruby anyway. If anything i would say that Mary Berry has argued Ruby's corner right from the start.

bourneout I so agree about Kimberly - she sees others as inadequate (at least that's how it's edited). It's great that she's confident and all but I find her lacking charm.

Frances to win! But predict Kimberly smugpants.

I rather like Ruby, although Beca is brilliant and funny. Sigh. Baking drama.

I can't stand Ruby either. I get the strong impression a lot of her angst is fake. I also think PH fancies her. Just not as much as he fancies himself...

I was sad to see Becca go, wouldn't mind Kimberly or Francis winning.

she's only young though - 21 or something? A lot of women are quite angsty at that age. I'm pretty sure I was; I remember I only learned to keep the self-deprecation to myself when I was older than that - it is pretty wearying for others to listen to.

Agree with Mam about the editing - it is very obvious IMO.

I don't think Ruby is all that pretty, too much of a sopping mess.

I also don't think Kimberly is smug. Just very self confident.
