And that Mel slaps her?

OP posts:
flippinada · 19/10/2013 15:52

That website is the epitome of twee.

ubik · 19/10/2013 15:58

Yes a 20 year old grown woman who appears on a baking competition should be able to cope with an online character assassination - so many people do, don't they.

It's amazes me that when the daily mail does it everyone on mumsnet hops up and down about the media and trolling etc etc - but this person has been torn apart on a thread which I think was intended - at first - to be fairly lighthearted.

I don't think Ruby should be in the final. I've no idea what she's like as a person - I'm sure she's perfectly fine.

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2013 16:00

Yes her blog is a bit twee but are we judging their baking or their blogs? So let's all have a go at Frances now shall we?

NoComet · 19/10/2013 16:18

I totally agree

If the Daily Mail was this rude to a 21y who'd just won a music or a young artists prize or rocketed to fame in a play we'd be up in arms.

KCumberSandwich · 19/10/2013 16:20

i loved francis' blog, the only bit i cringed a bit at was the ingredients bit, "dollop of randomness, fluid ounce of fun".

ppeatfruit i didn't slag ruby about her jacket, i was actually curious as to how it would be comfortable.

it's ridiculous how much slafging she has taken on the thread, i don't like her all that much but some on here have stooped quite low Angry

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2013 16:28

True KCucumber and ubik it's funny how the maxim "treat people how we would want to be treated" gets forgotten on here Sad

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 19/10/2013 16:29

I've asked for it to be deleted. If not, it's been a useful heads up

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 19/10/2013 16:33

"She's just bloody annoying. Having said that I actually think she's genuinely completely and utterly eaten up over if she's any good. I think the self-doubt she's experiencing is real and very crippling. She just stresses a lot. Hopefully she'll come out of this competition with more positivity and confidence in herself"

Itstartshere

Lets hope she doesn't read this very publicly accessible thread or your hope won't be realised.

sheridand · 19/10/2013 16:33

Ruby reminds me of many sixth formers i've taught, with a dash more Eeyore. She's just very young, and a bit tedious to watch. I do think her cakes must taste lovely though, because they look dreadful.

Kimberley should win, but she won't, because the slot for young, gifted, black lady cook is taken by that other chef who does the cakes, Lorraine Pasqual, is it? And the other Rachel Koo-esque one has the corner for pretty young thing, so it looks like Frances for the "Cooks like your mum and is a bit bossy too" cookbook / win.

I am still grieving for the 1970's inspired cookery show that Brendan never made. I once cooked a months worth of family meals from my nan's 1968 Good Housekeeping book, and the thing was, we all, including the kids, really loved them.

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 16:33

You've asked for the thread to be deleted? Hmm

bringbacksideburns · 19/10/2013 16:48

Bloody hell people!! A bit of perspective??

It's a Telly programme! Only on MN can people get their knickers in a twist over GBBO... Why ask for it to be deleted?
God knows how real issues go down in some people's lives Confused

Ruby would be alright if she stopped being all angsty and took the demin jacket off, She must be boiling! She also reminds me of girls at school when i was doing O Levels who constantly told me they'd not revised, had done sod all work and were doomed...then came out with A's.

Frances is technically brilliant but i bet Kimberley's cakes taste better so Kimberley should win. She is excellent. However she needs to stop the "Really!! No way!? A criticism!!" look whenever they critique her because it does look cocky.

kali110 · 19/10/2013 16:48

Kimberely to win!!

flippinada · 19/10/2013 17:09

There's no reason to think Frances is anything other than lovely (she comes across well on telly) and obviously she's a talented baker, otherwise she wouldn't be on GBBO but I'm afaid her website is, indeed, twee.

LaGuardia · 19/10/2013 17:22

Sounds like MN regulars want the white woman to win.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/10/2013 17:23

another twatty post laguardia now there's a surprise....

Fakebook · 19/10/2013 17:26

Well we were missing the racism on the thread...there it is now Hmm.

squoosh · 19/10/2013 17:33

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 17:52

Yes. People hate Kimberly because she's black. That's exactly how the thread reads.

Chippednailvarnish · 19/10/2013 17:59

Fuck me, I miss a few hours on this thread and its descended to shitheads, racism and threats of thread deletion.

It's like a smorgasbord of irrational thoughts.

OP posts:
deepfriedsage · 19/10/2013 18:04

Good grief. Backs away from baking thread bun fight.

sheridand · 19/10/2013 18:15

And Brendan didn't win because he had a labradoodle! And you know what they're like.....

I wonder, if Paul hadn't had his mid-life meltdown and was still Mr Happy Married, would half of this bile exist? Obviously, the so-and-so didn't win because they're purple theme would, but the "pretty" one? Don't know. No-one knew his silver fox status until he unmasked himself so tragically.

Chippednailvarnish · 19/10/2013 18:18

Tragically?!? Don't you mean pathetically?

OP posts:
flippinada · 19/10/2013 18:19

Talking of Paul Hollywood, I don't see the 'silver fox' appeal and yet quite a few women I know seem to fancy him rotten. What's that all about?

deepfriedsage · 19/10/2013 18:22

I imagine they are the same Women who fancy Simon Cowell, attracted to powerful self centered cold hearted Men.

flippinada · 19/10/2013 18:29

But..but...his hair is full of some sort of horrid looking sticky goo. If you tried to run your hand through it, it'd come away all covered in gunk!
