To get annoyed at the lack of empathy being shown by some many posters at the moment?

No I know IANBU, but I am stunned by some of the posters on here at the moment. Mumsnet has turned into the opinion pages of the Daily Mail.

Not just about the one issue, it is coming up on so many threads of different topics. Totally fed up of it.

I think its all too easy to have no empathy when hidden behind a screen.

I think probably YABU because it isn't always easy. I cannot empathise. I don't know why, I just haven't ever been able to feel what someone else must be feeling. I also can't work out what other people are thinking or tell when someone is lying. It's even weirder because I'm a performing arts teacher so I can easily adopt other roles and characters. But empathy? No, I have none at all.

Do you mean the Malala and McCann threads yesterday? Because they really annoyed me and there was a definite lack of empathy on them. Not sure if it actually is a lack of empathy or people just shit stirring though.

I don't mind people disagreeing. I don't mind a bit of a debate. But the disingenuous goady twats are getting a bit much.

Because it was all over Twitter and FB so new posters are coming onto MN.

There is a distinct lack of sympathy I've noticed on certain topics so YANBU

I think the anonymity of the internet brings out the devil's advocate and confrontational side of people. I for one have noted a few names of people who I don't think I'd have the time of day for in RL but I hope I won't be seeing them again and that they have an ounce of self-awareness and have NCd by now.
