to really fucking love MN.

I mean really.

I can't adequately express it, actually. I have met my best friends here. I laughed and cried and celebrated and commiserated here. It's been about seven years, I think, which makes you all my longest ever relationship (I met you a week before I met DH).

A rl friend linked the fucking Penis Beaker thing from FB earlier and it gave me the rage (apols to penis beaker OP) because I am so protective and proud of you all. I don't like that we are known for penis beakery and not known for being the wonderful warm place I love.

You lot held my hand when [http://justsomestuffaboutus.wordpress.com/2013/10/12/im-going-to-write-the-shit-out-of-it/ this shit happened]] and I wouldn't have coped without you. You raged with me when I needed to vent about my cunty ex. You slapped my virtual arse when I was a dickhead (often). You've even banned me once or twice. But my love for you (collective you, all eleventy million of you plus MNHQ) has never wavered.

So I just wanted to say that I love you all. Some more than others Wink, but you are all part of the rich tapestry of my wonderful Mumsnet so it's a general love-in.

ThanksThanksThanks

Oh ok then. As a result of MN I befriended and later drove to a place of safety another MNer who was being abused by her H.

I think that remains the most awesome and scary thing I've ever done, ever.

Reality · 12/10/2013 19:13

Oh DameF that's brilliant stuff. You hero!

Yes Im addicted only joined in the summer but am no longer lonely
on my hill.
Its lovely to see this after haters Hellogals thread re:netums

DameFanny · 12/10/2013 19:16

And lots and lots of reassurance for having a cat put down when we couldn't afford the 3 grand no guarantee surgery (a car had ripped out his tail and base of spine). That was a horrible night made better by Mumsnet.

DameFanny · 12/10/2013 19:17

Not a hero at all! Just was in the right place at the right time thanks to the power of Mumsnet Grin

Donkeyok · 12/10/2013 19:19

Sad oh poor cat, poor you

mignonette · 12/10/2013 19:20

I had flowers (real ones) sent to me by the MNVogue threaders when my niece was born with serious brain damage and we were told initially that she would not survive.

From Wild At Heart. I cannot express the comfort and happiness they brought me.

I have made what I consider to be friends as real and valid as any in RL on here and had the chance to 'meet' and talk to people I would not ever get the chance to encounter in any other way.

And I get my butt kicked when I need it which has taught me to be gracious in admitting when I am wrong (and to mean it).

Portofino · 12/10/2013 19:20

DameFanny - did you used to have a Pirate name? Whatever, you are awesome.

Reality

Portofino · 12/10/2013 19:22

Shame there seems to be such an influx of trolls at the mo. The PenisBeaker stuff just makes it worse. Off with you trolls, you might think you are clever but you are just sad fucks.

DameFanny · 12/10/2013 19:25

yes Porto - you're still on My List of Proper People Grin

Tweasels · 12/10/2013 19:26

I like the laughs and whilst I would never use the acronym, I can honestly say I have laughed out loud many times.

It is also like an emergency service. Like someone up thread said, there is always someone who can answer your question or solve a problem.

I've said this before and I know it sounds a bit twee but I lost my mum in 2005 when I had just had my DS and MN answered the questions that I should have been asking her.

It fucking infuriates me at times also but the good definitely outweighs the bad Grin

IamtheZombie · 12/10/2013 19:29

Zombie also loves MN. She has received incredible support over the last couple of years as she made her way through the breast cancer jungle and even more so recently when her "D"ZOH buggered off back to his mistress. She's been on a fair few forums and not one holds a candle to MN.

Portofino · 12/10/2013 19:34

Zombie - I am so looking forward to meeting you at the Meet Up. DameFanny - did you stay in touch with said poster? I think of her from time to time and hope she is doing well.

That was definitely a MN success!

IamtheZombie · 12/10/2013 19:37

Zombie is very, very excited about the meetup. There are loads of MNers attending that she's wanted to meet for a very long time. That included you, Portofino. Grin

IamtheZombie · 12/10/2013 19:38

*includes. Not past tense. Blush

Portofino · 12/10/2013 19:38

Eek - not best Xpost. Everlong, I am so glad you have found such good support here. xx

IamChristmas · 12/10/2013 19:40

I love mumsnet because it has woken up a part of me that I had lost, or was in danger of losing. The part of me that knows that no means no, the part of me that feels dignity, and self respect and courage. The part of me that questions the role of women in society and isn't afraid to use the F word.
I also find you lot fucking hilarious, you crack me up :) so ticking a lot of boxes really!

Portofino · 12/10/2013 19:41

Without MN I would never have found myself in the position of sharing Marlboro Lights with Reality, in our pyjamas outside a Premier Inn. Let alone being in bed with BOF. Grin

Reality · 12/10/2013 19:42

Grin Porto.

Keep 'em coming, lovelies. This is making me very warm n fuzzy.
