to have told my work colleague that she isn't being healthy?

My work colleague is going away for a weekend to Bristol for some music event. She made a big thing about how this week she is going to be really healthy in next for week.

She then gets out a massive salad drenched in sauce.

Was I unreasonable to point out that this is actually not very healthy and contains a lot of calories??

I didn't say anything but one of my colleagues had a huge wrap today and said he decided to be healthy and not have bread. I thought very loudly to myself are wraps not made with oil though and not very healthy.

FurryDogMother · 23/09/2013 18:58

Depends on what the sauce was - if she's low carbing and using mayo - no problem!

rallytog1 · 23/09/2013 18:58

YANBU but it's not really any of your business what your colleague chooses to eat. You don't know what they're eating the rest of the time so that could be the one indulgence in their whole day.

Tee2072 · 23/09/2013 18:59

Nothing more annoying than someone commenting on what your eating.

YABU

Greythorne · 23/09/2013 18:59

Why on earth would you comment?

Leave her to her own devices.

lottieandmia · 23/09/2013 19:00

Why are you bothered about what she eats? You aren't her mother presumably?

SoldAtAuction · 23/09/2013 19:01

did she ask your opinion of her food?

MortifiedAdams · 23/09/2013 19:01

OP what would she usually eat? Surely she is making steps in the right direction?

mrsjay · 23/09/2013 19:02

why do you care what she eats people are a it o obsessed about food imo, she had salad and a dressing

Greythorne · 23/09/2013 19:03

If she normally has a large Big Mac meal and large milkshake with mcflurry for lunch, she is eating more healthily.

BrianTheMole · 23/09/2013 19:03

I don't think you are. My colleague used to do this to me, but I didn't mind as she was just trying to be helpful.

AngelsLieToKeepControl · 23/09/2013 19:03

Ywbvu and rude.

StrangeGlue · 23/09/2013 19:03

Yabu it could be inline with a diet (low carb) or she could be 5:2-ing or she could be having a lunch treat or whatever. It's not your place to be the snide 'I think you'll find' voice of disapproval.

ethelb · 23/09/2013 19:08

People get funny about this but there are plenty of things you could put in a salad and still have fewer calories than a takeaway sandwich.

A cottage cheese or feta dressing, or even a green goddess dressing would be a good source of lean protein if made with the right things.

MissBeehiving · 23/09/2013 19:09

A salad with an olive oil based dressing is healthy aksherly Confused

MeeWhoo · 23/09/2013 19:10

I don't think you should have commented and also, calorific doesn't necessarily mean unhealthy unless you need to lose weight for health reasons.
Eating just raw carrots all day every day may be the epitome of hipocalorific, but it's not very healthy.

mrsjay · 23/09/2013 19:12

O dont think there was anything wrong wit her lunch what kind of sauce was it

NotYoMomma · 23/09/2013 19:13

how rude are you?! Shock

I would have cried

KatyPurrey · 23/09/2013 19:15

I wouldn't have commented if she was just eating her lunch.

But she made a big announcement and was taking a photo to put on instagram to say how healthy she is being.

I'd rather point out to her that actually that isn't very healthy.

You would have cried?

If you'd gone on about making sure you were super healthy for a week and announced you were taking a photo to put on instagram of your lunch because it was so healthy.

And I said to you - salad is of course really healthy but it's the sauce that can contain lots of calories.

You would cry?

I'd hate to think what you did when Bambi's mum got shot.

Isildur · 23/09/2013 19:18

Maybe she meant she was cutting back on alcohol/cakes/coffee.

It is beyond rude to comment on what people are eating.

mrsjay · 23/09/2013 19:18

but what is unhealthy about salad did she have beef dripping or something in it

MrsMelons · 23/09/2013 19:20

How do you know how many calories were in the sauce. I often use a really low cal dressing that has less that 10cal per tablespoon so I could actually have as much as I wanted and it still be loads healthier than a sandwich or something.

NotYoMomma · 23/09/2013 19:25

I would be upset that you assummed I wasnt aware of the sauce.

I would be touchy about you being rude about a healthy lunch.

I would have been wondering if you thought I was stupid.

all that intagram stuff is a big drip feed btw. I was going on the OP which impkied she confided she was trying to be healthy and you still had a snipe at her.

there was no need

NotYoMomma · 23/09/2013 19:27

oh don't remind me about Bambi's Mum. dear God you are heartless weeps
